How did one man's expression of loving Samus more than anyone else almost kill off a once respectable franchise and cause permanent damage to his reputation?
How did one man's expression of loving Samus more than anyone else almost kill off a once respectable franchise and...
It was still a better METROID game than Prime.
no, user. no.
Because he isn't a good writer.
I really like Other M.
>nintendo's attempt at a sony moviegame
this is probably the most un-nintendo game ever, I still don't know what they were thinking
By fucking up aspects of traditional Metroid gameplay and Samus' character.
I really dislike your opinion
>linear as shit
>more metroid than prime
Go fuck yourself
The dodge made the game a joke and having an involved, and not very good, story with cutscenes and voice acting was a mistake. Prime 3 already teetered on the brink with the new characters.
>but muh fast Samus I have ADD and like modern Sonic games a lot
His vision of Samus was diferent to everyone else that its all.
Poor Sakamoto got a Lot of bullyng for that.
I guess if you put it that way, they were blinded by that love.
The Maxximum Edition hack of the game is pretty good, outside of some janky video edits.
It had better movility than Prime.
>big dramatic scene supposed to show adam as a self sacrificial hero
>starts with him literally shooting samus in the back
I'm still baffled
are nips unaware of the symbolic meaning of attacking someone who's supposed to be on your side in the back?
Thankfully someone at Nintendo put him on a leash or Sakamoto came to his senses after the backlash.
Sakamoto thought that a more cinematic Metroid game would appeal to the west. Thankfully, he's since learned his lesson and given us a great remake as an apology.
Sakamoto wanted to be Kojima. The Team Ninja staff in those Iwata Ask vids look like they want to cry out for help (laughs)
So? Play Super Metroid and tell me that mobility is important to the franchise at all
Metroid is in life support because it never was that popular series to begin with, especially in Japan. First Metroid Prime is clear bestseller in the entire series with 2.84 million sales, out of which only 78,000 were sold in Japan.
Fuck off m8.
"Wyh is Meteoroid purple"
t. Sakamoto
I won't forgive him until he produces Metroid 5 holy shit what is the holdup.
"Alright, Metroid game infused with our expertise with action games. Got it"
"Yeah but wiimote only, muh NES controller"
My whole life I have heard countless variations of the pronunciation of Zebes, from "ZEE-bees" to "ZEE-behss" to "Zeebs", but I always saw it as "ZEH-behss."
The fact that Other M pronounced it the way I always read it, only makes me seriously doubt my own convictions.
It's zeh biss
Oh look its this thread again
BOOST GUARDIAN
that's one of the most infuriating aspects, an action focused metroid game developped by team ninja could have been great, but no, muh lapsed nes gamers
Other M isn't good but it's also saddening in a way. I think if you look through the swamp that is the rest of the game you can see potential for a 3D future for the series, but because of the bad aspects of the game and the appropriate fan backlash, we will never see that potential turn into an actual Metroid game and will instead be stuck with 2.5D games in a format that's been done to death by Indies and slow first person adventure games that while still very good in their own right don't fully capture the Metroid feel due to their slow pace
What potential are you talking about? Brain dead combat where you just spam the extremely generous dodge that gives a million i-frames and free charge shots?
I enjoyed other M
Yeah I know its a bad game
I don't have a problem with Prime being different from mainline in the same way that I don't have a problem with 3D Mario being different from 2D Mario.
Metroid 5 is still being made. Might come out earlier than Prime 4 at this point.
Its been 9 years, you people have been proven wrong multiple times, get over with.
Reminder that Proteus Ridley in Samus Returns is the undeniable in-game proof that the Prime games are canon. So not only Sakamoto relearned how to make good games, but he also finally made amends with the Prime games.
Probably want everything to look just right for the trailer.
>all the fags that got pleb filtered by the Boost Guardian
