What do you like about Nintendo?
What do you like about Nintendo?
nothing
Personally I like that they stay faithful to the kind of games they want to make instead of just doing what's trendy, despite having rough days with the GameCube and Wii U, they didn't settle for making CoDs or GTAs, instead they decided to take their own approach on online shooters with Splatoon.

Im sorry, like Snoy i don't think some good thing about Ninty.
My favorite YouTuber plays their games exclusively.
They make the best video games in world and always have done.
their games are often quite polished and historically there's a sense that you're buying a full product when you pick up a first party Nintendo game
there has been some DLC shenanigans more recently but they've been either expansion packs with more content or multiplayer items, which I don't concern myself with
The orientation on fun and unique instead of half a library of shooters.
focus on gameplay mechanics over narrative, colorful stylized visuals, good variety of genres including some that basically no one else is doing anymore, no overbearing political shit, titties and ass
They're some of the only high budget companies providing games for certain genres that usually don't get these kind of budgets, which lets visual design & feedback blossom.
Also just gameplay over anything else.
Mostly just like Mario, Smash & a bunch of their semi-dead/dead IPs. Don't like the prevalence of overly anime content on 2019's Switch lineup, don't like Zelda either, so it hasn't been the best for me
Got the DKC SNES bundle for my 4th birthday, I grew up in the country I had been out with my cousins swinging on grapevines before, something about it just clicked. Like it was art imitating life. They also got me Mario's Time Machine, and I couldn't read well yet but they helped me and I had a huge leg up on my pre School peers in history. Getting Super Mario RPG for my 6th birthday really taught me to read though. I was so engrossed in the story, I studied harder in school so I could understand it better. Then as the years went by, the cultural phenomenon of Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, every kid at school playing Pokemon. They just provided so much scaffolding for my childhood, and they definitely left an impact on my adult psyche. I still play Smash at locals, still fire up Earthbound every few years. I love em, they're a part of who I am to a certain degree.
Their handhelds
Nintendo games suck a fat dick
Their consoles.
Games.
And the immense butthurt they cause to all the haters.
Wow, I also got DKC with a SNES for my 4th birthday, it was great, DKC is still one of my favorite franchises. I later got a N64 and had some fun days, as I was 12 I started to think Nintendo was for children and switched to Play Station (and PC, but I've been playing on PC since the start almost), I kinda came back to it when I was 19 with the Wii with DKC Returns and been a big fan since then.
Wow that's awesome bro, must have been a good marketing campaign that year haha. Yeah I kind of started to feel that way too, but I still played them I just didn't talk about it with anyone except my nerdier friends. Actually from like 11 to 14 me and my best friend from childhood maintained an awesome Animal Crossing village passing back and forth our memory card. Randomly found it a couple years back and booted it up, was overwhelmed with a nostalgia so deep it was painful. But yeah I love the DKC games, haven't played Returns or Tropical Freeze but have heard good things. I even liked Donkey Konga, was never great at rhythm games but that one was fun
Unlike most developers they know what to do with their IPs.
Their commitment to delivering fun games over all else. Sometimes they hit it off, sometimes they strike out, but they have always prioritized trying to develop and support the release of video games first and foremost.
melee f-zero gx mario kart and super mario.
As a 1988 Nintendo fan that got betrayed in 2004 when nintendo games started to suck ass I demand that these come back to nintendo or I will not support them. Or these new ideals are shoved entirely away.
1. New idea.
Nintendo allows romhacks on their systems. They reward people for creating the best games and make them canon to their series.
Then nintendo goes and supports them by allowing them to make a mainline game.
Romhacks should be able to be played online.
And if your a young blood you play a hard ass romhack you get rewarded by getting free games or discounts for you beating challenges.
Also romhack tools for those who want to create.
2. I want a miyamoto 2.
Back in the day miyamoto was the head of creative and had the final say so of all game decisions.
The romhackers of now should be in that position because they have a love of Nintendo as much as miyamoto. Back then nintendo had criticisms in their games which allowed for a perfection in their games which lead to difficult easy to learn impossible to master gameplay which hasn't existed nintendo wise since 2001.
3 people who I would put in these positions and or to create a game together
Pannen keok cryzen x and Kaze emmanuar.
3. I want Nintendo to up the difficulty and quality in gameplay
I've been waiting for a sequel to melee since 2001.
What I want doesn't exist in brawl or call of duty smash 4 games in a row series.
I want 360 degree attacks for all moves in the game. I want jumps to be controlled by stick light stick presses or short distance equals short distance and harder longer. I want this to be the case with hits too.
I want aerial clanks aerial grabs aerial shields aerial b moves.
I want double and triple smashing.
Think about the games smb1 to smb3 see how much smb3 added to smb1.
That could of happened to melee but we now a days we got same game same experience 12345.
4. I want unique ness and authenticity in gameplay. Whatever happened to the nintendo seal of quality.
you have to go back
I want a Metroid 5
When i saw the gameplay of links awakening I was brutally upset because it seems like they copied pasted the gameplay of the past 4 isometric zelda games. It's so lazy that it is a turn off to nintendo for me.
5. I want administered communities delegated by nintendo with the sole purpose to keep love of past properties alive. I want the history of all past nintendo titles to have a fan club and I want a community to protect and love each game series.
6. Mods
Self explanatory
7. PC/steam/epic integration also self explanatory
8. A subscription service which allows for all of these things on all platforms where I can enjoy nintendo again
9. New ips using different games mixed with. Nintendo.
Diablo 2 with a focus of all different eras of nintendo.
You choose a char and your abilities like peach turnip get from smb2.
Example.
Binding of isaac randomness duneons mixed with 5v5 zelda pvp with a boss in the middle.
The game descent but with metroid aesthetics and gameplay.
Mmo platformer where there is hundreds of Mario's 2 sides you have to use many Mario's to complete platforming in levels.
You have a town to battle for in the middle that provides buffs.
You have a bruiser class meant to use mario powerups to stop the other side.
Nintendo used to be a king but I see them not as a king anymore
To better nintendo experiences?
>Mods
Just get a Wii/3DS and go wild with it.
>PC/steam/epic integration
You're fucking delusional if you think that's happening. Ever.
great developers and composers
nothing else
If all of these happened besides this exact point talking about PC steam etc I'd be extremely happy still.
But I'd take a bullet for Nintendo if they did all of these things
also
>MMO Platformer with Mario
It would be absolute fucking trash. Thanks god, that they'll never hire you.
I like how they censor the Internet and show that we deserve cyperpunk dystopia
Immersive world.
Nintendo innovates, everyone else follows. This has been true for consoles, motion controls, JRPGs, nearly anything other than FPS on computers.
They've never made an outright bad game not alot of companies can say that. That and they tend to only release games when they're polished. I don't play many Nintendo games these days but the stuff I do play tends to be pretty good to outright great.
I've always owned handhelds and a moderately powered laptop because of how often I travel and stay in other states/countries. The Switch is small enough to throw in a carry on and not worry about too much. I generally enjoy Nintendo games.
My goal is to make Nintendo have unique game experiences that provide atleast years worth of entertainment.
More entertainment = more customers to play = more diehard Nintendo fans = more people talking about how nintendo is the shit = more Nintendo money.
Think bout it like this.
100 vs 100 Mario's
64 mario gameplay.
You gotta partially use players level design puzzles and building together to go farther in a level.
You have a bruiser class that can fight enemies in the wild like goombas that will drop powerups like fireballs. In town you can buy powerups as well.
If you kill an enemy it has a chance to drop a powerup which you can deliver to one of your buddies that needs a powerup.
At the highest level of this I want some kazio like experiences to finish off a level.
I am not looking for games that end in a week making you want more after playing for 3 days I want something that will last decades if not more
>Nintendo innovates
They used but they haven't done so for quite some time.
>motion controls
Yeah, showing how it's trash.
I mean not even Miyamoto himself could show that the WiiU gamepad was actually something groundbreaking and that devs were just too stupid to utilize properly.
Gimmicks aren't innovation
>Gimmicks aren't innovation
That's a stupid way of putting it since you can call any innovation a "gimmick" to suit your argument.
They have but it just didn't stick. Switch is pretty much a Wii u 2.0 or at least it's what the Wii u should have been. It's amazing the difference a name can make.
Innovation should be software not hardware.
Nintendo is literally making the same games over and over and making you control it in different ways just so you buy it!
And why does it only have to be software that's innovative? What arbitrary rule is there for that line of thinking?
Well once you realize your playing the same shit over and over you are like oh shit oh damn oh gay this is all the same stuff and you get bored quicker and the game becomes more of tedious than fun to play. At that point your just convincing your mind to play and finish the game not to play it out of enjoyment or it is fun
>Nintendo is literally making the same games over and over
that's a blatant lie, they try new stuff constantly and even their historical ips get extremely varied entries from gen to gen
While I agree Nintendo could do with adding new franchises that doesn't mean there's been no innovation as far as how you play those games.
Smash hasn't changed since brawl
Zelda finally changed in botw with one thing creativity everything else feels the same
Mario hasn't changed since galaxy
Isometric zelda has been the same gameplay wise and looks.
They have a standard and are afraid to go past it or experiment
They still make games. Not brown and bloom shooters like MS and 'cinematic experiences' like Sony.
>nuh uh it doesn't count
?
If you think it's the name was the WiiU's problem, you're wrong.
As you said the Switch is what the WiiU should've been in the first place.
Also if it didn't stick, it's not innovation. They have been more focused on re-inventing button presses in the last years
>extremely varied
Not really.
>they try new stuff constantly
Like what?
>?
I don't know how to make it more clear but if you still didn't get it you're beyond salvation.
am I ever gonna find that sauce?
>Mario hasn't changed since galaxy
bullshit, 3d land/world are an entirely different style than odyssey and are significantly different than galaxy too
mario maker is new, captain toad is new, but I know you're going to come back with
>i-it doesn't count!!
Mario maker is linear levels for showmanship but I do support nintendo allowing their fans to create things.
It's still a repeat of the old and if I was nintendo I'd never add the new super mario game to it because it degrades the rest of the product.
3d world and land. Ok cool for one game but like I said they were to similar and I do not like that.
Ok odyssey was like galaxy 2.0 where you can possess enemies to do things for you.
Problem is that you cannot do things creatively in the level like super Mario 64.
All you had to do to make it more creative was add platforms in m64.
What are you going to do make mario have 20 hats so you can control 20 different enemies to do 20 more complicated things.
I am saying peak mario odyssey is as deep as the 1 creature per interaction and it doesn't get deeper than that.
Also it dont help the lazy oh hey theres a moon every 3 seconds instead of it being something challenging and rewarding to get instead of filler bullshit.
I just see the same lame excuse that's being thrown around as always.
>mario maker is new
Not really, it's just new coming from Nintendo.
Basically Little Big Planet (not like that was a big new idea in the first place) with less stuff/content but a lot more "celebrity oomph"
Captain Toad is just a puzzle game I don't really see what it's doing anything new. Not that it isn't a good game
>I just see the same lame excuse that's being thrown around as always.
Which would be?
>gimmicks are not innovation
What is a gimmick? Is analog movement a gimmick? Are motion controls a gimmick? I guess it just depends on whether you like it or not.
And not only that, this sentence doesn't provide anything to back it up, not only the definition of gimmick is ambiguous and I already know you will use it conveniently to dismiss any innovation Nintendo has done, but also there's absolutely no base to claim that a gimmick is not an innovation, you just decided that.
You're the one who is making a lame excuse to deny that Nintendo innovates.
They make the most fun games. That's it.
>Problem is that you cannot do things creatively in the level like super Mario 64.
you've never played the game
I like Mareep. Mareep is cute. I want to hug mareep.
Would you spend 500 dollars for a life seize Mareep plush?
Zelda games and thats about it.
FE is alright.
despite how jewy they are with their games, i can deny they have the best handheld console.
Can you do that with enemies in the mix if not then it's not greater than mario 64 its just the same
>What do you like about Nintendo
The games? If the games were on another console, I'd still purchase them. The Switch is the first Nintendo console I felt like I prefer the games on it over emulated on PC.
Nintendo also owns some of my favorite game series, like Xenoblade, Metroid, and Zelda, and a lot of my other favorites get ports, like Ys, DQ, and Tales of.
Their consistent quality
Nothing, they turned into complete jews after Iwata died.
>Go to Paheal

Viola.
They were decent 15 years ago
Also, they made the Yoshi and DK games. They're legendary.
thanks
Their games
BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME
1. Terraria (on Wii U, 3DS, Switch)
2. Xenoblade Chronicles X (Nintendo owned)
3. Metroid Prime (Nintendo owned)
4. Super Metroid (Nintendo owned)
5. Hollow Knight (on Switch)
6. Breath of the Wild (Nintendo owned)
7. Rabi Ribi
8. Xenoblade Chronicles (Nintendo owned)
9. Diablo II
10. DQXI (on Switch)
So 8 out of 10 of the best games of all time are on Nintendo consoles. The other 2 are on PC. Choosing Nintendo is a no-brainer, especially when you have a PC to play all the worthwhile games on Sony/Microsoft consoles, like Monster Hunter World
its rabid defense force
Or maybe you could just say what they innovated in the last years.
>analog movement
That wasn't Nintendo. They innovated (and set standards) with SM64 and OoT though.
>Are motion controls a gimmick?
Yeah.
post BOTW Zelda brapper already
they make fun the priority and they actually treat their workers good
vidya
Theres a reason why there hasn’t been an F-Zero game in years, Miyamoto refuses until he gets an idea about a bullshit gimmick
I like that they got the ball rolling on a lot of smaller/niche Japanese games this gen
