It does jack shit. The cards feel like trash. They're a chore. They do nothing. The seal system is trash. Divination is trash and the cd is still too long so you still end up spending most of your time spamming minor arcana. You don't even have to fucking try to do the seals right because the difference between one correct seal and three is 2% damage over a 15 second window every two minutes.

The job is in the worst state it has ever been in, even after the 5.05 buffs to potency. Sure, it can heal, but it's fucking boring and it doesn't matter whether you try or not. If you're going to remove the random chance element from a card draw and make everything exactly the same, you might as well remove the entire job because that's the premise of it. Replace it with a time mage or something instead.

Visually, no. There's no real place in XIV where one can "see" the lifestream, or interact with it. But it has similar mechanics otherwise.

Rewatch Emet-Selch's explanation. The world wasn't broken into pieces, Hydaelyn made 13 exact copies. So Amaurotine ruins would exist on every shard originally. Y'shtola said the reason we haven't seen them on the Source is probably because all the Calamities wiped them away. The Source has a much more violent history than other shards.

What is this autism?

Being bedridden (or beingforcedinto bed, as she liked to reason) gave Alisaie much time to think. Thinking lead to sleeping and sleeping lead to dreaming, for better or for worse.

The Warrior oft came to her in her dreams. They sat together or walked together or even danced as the scenes around them blurred and warped a thousand times in a confusing mess of colors. Poppy spoke to her, whispering indiscernible words excitably as she laughed. Alisaie could never quite hear her.

“Are you well?”

“Are you safe?”

“Will you return soon?”

The questions fell from Alisaie’s lips and landed heavily at her feet, remaining unheard. Dreams were simply dreams, after all.

The glittering phantoms of Poppy never answered. She smiled and turned away despite Alisaie’s protests, disappearing into streams of blinding light, slipping through her fingers like the sands of Thanalan where she was born. Alisaie would cry out but the illusion around her simply shattered, leaving her feeling empty.

Between bursts of fitful sleep, she woke to a tensely silent infirmary. There had been little communication between the Resistance and the forces sent with the Warrior in fear that the imperials might intercept carefully guarded information. The entire Reach seemed to hold its breath in anticipation.

Alisaie would rise to stretch, do light exercise as she was permitted, walk about the camp, and worry. She worried for Alphinaud, for Lyse, for Poppy. She would lean against the pillars in front of the infirmary in the evenings and stare over the south-most wall of the Reach where the Fringes and the Peaks and the Lochs laid beyond. She found a sliver of comfort in the fact that they all shared the same sky and gazed at the same stars.

The worry always persisted, gnawing at her like a starved beast until late at night when she lay in her cot. Pieces of memories long past played across the backs of Alisaie’s eyelids when sleep finally found her. She saw the fragments of Dalamud, the crystalline spires of the Burning Wall, the Warrior as she returned from one of her harrowing battles.

It was odd how she always looked the happiest after a fight.

Disheveled hair. Bruised knuckles. Bloody knees. Broken bones. She was shattered so many countless times. The fragments grew smaller with each blow and the fissures grew ever deeper, yet she emerged reforged without fail. Always laughing, glinting sharpened fangs as she grinned.

Alisaie watched the scenes unfold before her. She dimly wondered how Poppy managed to be so strong, marveled at her boundless well of energy. How did she do it all? Magic and blessings and a bit of madness, perhaps.

Suddenly, she was surrounded by red. An endless field of flowers billowed around her in the breeze, reminding her of the Ruby Sea’s gentle waves at dawn. The Warrior sat amongst them, not too far off. When she turned her head an ilm to the side and caught Alisaie’s gaze, she smiled and beckoned her to come forward. Alisaie was seated beside her in an instant. She didn’t bother to question the logic of how she’d moved so quickly.

Poppy plucked a flower from the ground and turned to give it to her, brushing fingers that felt too cruelly real against her hand. When Alisaie looked down at what appeared to be a lily with vivid red petals, the world around her snapped into lucid clarity as if the veil of sleep had been lifted from her eyes.

Foxx Mike: “Hold it Dracom where do you think you’re going?”

the shield you can just get through gold saucer though since dying it doesn't matter

The Gold Saucer Garo shield is arguably better than the Wolf Mark Garo shield as well since you can use it on shields lower than 60.

Y'shtola's actual area of expertise hardly ever comes up, so it gives the idea that she's redundant. Her specialty is in ancient languages and mythology, which was used off-screen a few times but has only really come into play in the MSQ during 1.0 and then during Shadowbringers in Rak'tika. It seems like the writers don't really know how to use her properly.

How long did it take the WoL to become a master Scholar?

WoL uses a Nymian soul crystal to access Surito Carito's memories, so it doesn't count.

What headcanon? That's literally how soul crystals work. A wielder imprints their memories onto the crystal, and then subsequent users access the memories by attuning with the original aetherial signature.

I haven't done the SCH quests after 50, but the WoL invents techniques in the other jobs during Heavensward.

WoL can still invent their own techniques, yeah. But the purpose of using a soul crystal is to access a knowledge base imprinted by the previous wielders. Stephanivien even gives you a blank one so you can imprint your own techniques to be pased down to Machinists of the future.
WoL's Scholar abilities are based on their competency as an Arcanist, it's not all the soul crystal. But the soul crystal is basically an instant power boost that skips the training and lets them access specific knowledge as they attune. The SCH crystal belonged to Surito Carito, and most likely his ancestors too since faeries were typically passed down through families.

Think of it like this, a soul crystal is like a USB drive, if your aether is of the same file system as the soul crystal, you can access files (spells.) You can always add more data to the soul crystal, so you invent and store more spells onto the crystal. You don't need to actively try and remember the spells cause you have them on the easy to access drive.

WoL's main strength seems like they pick up new skills extremely fast probably because of who they originally were. Arcanima is math magic and requires deep understanding of advanced mathematical equations and sacred geometries. Urianger and Alphinaud are both considered geniuses because they invented new equations to create their carbuncles. So WoL is at least extremely competent with math.

The fairy just do her own thing, she's here to support you, not the other around.
If you need direct healing, you have Excog and Lustrate.
You also have Aether pact that give an extremely strong regen to whoever you targeted.

If you need aoe healing you have Indom and Fey Blessing but there's not any incoming aoe attack you can just use Whispering Dawn instead.
If you are missing the aetherflow you can just use Emergency Tactics and Succor for a 405 potency aoe heal.
Sacred Soil is also a 500 potency regen on top of a 10% damage reduction.

SCH is the most fun healer imo.

Balance: damage up; Bole: physical defence up; Ewer: magical defence up; Spire: Crit up; Arrow: Haste up; Spear: Direct hit up. The effects do not overwrite each other. Sleeve draw allows you to apply three cards consecutively. Adjust draw/redraw cooldown as necessary.
Delete Noct but retain shields on opposition and intersection.

Yes, you can reassemble drill or air anchor since they're the same damage but the majority of the time it should line up with drill. I think the opener is the only time you should need to hold reassemble for more than one GCD (since it opens with drill->1-2 combo hits->air anchor->combo it->stabilizer wildfire->heat blast spam->reassemble drill)

Nah, pulling to the wall at 50 is pretty damn common. It's really easy even at 50 to keep a tank up on a big pull with WHM.

After all WHM's best mitigation ability for large trash mob packs is Holy's stun, and you get that at 45.

Assing strafing to an out-of-place in combat button like V/B. It's what I do. Then you can use it when you need it but it's not in the way.

It was too difficult for the overwhelming majority of players, especially coming off Final Coil which was a pretty relaxed raid tier, and considering new players. A3 and A4 were brutal, one mechanically and the other numbers-wise.
Additionally you had no cross-server back then so you had to be on the same server to raid.
As a result groups would fall apart and not pick back up and with patch content being particularly light around that time, people would just stop playing.
Cross-server PF wouldn't become a thing until mid-Midas, which was also mechanically difficult enough to deter more casual raiders. Ever since then they stopped making Savage hard.

That was the idea, but it conflicted with the fact savage raids were the primary source of endgame gearing. So if you want good gear, you raid, but that wasn't compatible with high level of challenge Gordias and Midas provided. People want their numbers to go up but they don't want to bust their balls for it. That's why Ultimate was invented, to give a challenge mode separately from gearing.

There are almost no pulls in the game with more than 20 mobs since the game engine can't even handle more than 16 mobs at once (AOEs stop hitting enemies past the 16th target)

Amdapor's first pull is like 12 enemies and they do chip damage to any tank who's synced or wearing ironworks gear, and that's assuming they used no cooldowns

No, that wasn't what the emergency patch to A6S was at all. Healers were fine. The "Compressed Water" mechanic was bugged in the worst way. They had it coded so that if you didn't pass it when it hit you or if you died with it on, it would trigger the auto wipe. The bug was that you were on the list of people to get passed to, even if you already held the debuff. Which means it had a 25% chance of wiping the party randomly. Some people did a 5 stack of water, which meant they had a 20% chance of wiping.

All of the groups that got past Vortexer before the patch got really lucky, or brute forced it until they didn't have the bug (also remember that water passes multiple times in Vortexer, and each had a chance to trigger the random wipe). Also remember that every time you wiped to Vortexer, you were all the way back to Blaster, which people were notoriously bad at.

People on Yea Forums talk like this didn't require absolute maximum autism and then act flabbergasted that they dared to tone down the difficulty to something doable by people who didn't want to spend 10 straight days of 16 hour raiding to clear.

They're complaining that it's too easy because fights reuse a lot of their own mechanics which makes them too easy to learn. Titan was extremely popular amongst the hardcore community because it never does the exact same mechanic multiple times without something to change it up.

Honestly, I feel like normal was the actual mistake. The current savage is basically the same difficulty as coil was, and gordias/midas savage was more along the lines of second coil savage. I believe other than the shared loot/lookout, they had the right idea early on. But because they got one piece of it wrong, they scrapped the idea. If we had creator savage difficulty and midas savage difficulty be the two different difficulty levels of the tier, there would be a proper learning curve. Right now normal mode is basically something throwaway that you do literally once then throw in the trash, and it's even that way for a lot of casual players.

Nah. You're mis-remembering something that happened in A4S. The default strategy was for the big add in A4S to enrage (wirbelwind) so you can lower the DPS requirement for the fight. Its enrage was dropping everyone's MP to 0. So healers had to plan their MP cooldowns properly for that strategy.

Honestly, it sounds like a massive improvement. Why bother putting in the cool combo system involving midare if you aren't supposed to use it optimally. That sounds like a design fuckup. I seriously hope no SAM actually misses that.

You still did Midare since Hagakure was on a chunky CD. They were just less common to see since you'd be using your other abilities and then using Midare in the gaps. It was a much more mechanically interesting class in Stormblood.

I just wish normal mode encounters were faster. An almost 10 minute fight with 2 piss easy mechanics is a fucking slog past the first time you see it.

Personally I feel like getting to see big ass five digit attacks pop up every so often is a lot more satisfying than jamming on the Shinten button like a fucking spastic
