I unironically like this. New level layout every playthrough which means unlimited different ways to play. You construct one level and you're done with it. Just because someone "handcrafted" it doesn't mean it's better.

I'll try to explain, it's not love for Dusk per se, it's the love we had for the old run and gun shooters when we grew up. Quake, Rise of the Triad, Doom, Hexen, Duke Nukem, Blood, Shadow Warrior etc. There haven't been anything like those games for years now so when something comes along that tries to be similar it instantly triggers our nostalgia and it is immediately the bestest thing ever.
