Question to those who think that all games are political: How is Kingdom Hearts (the OG game, not the series) political?
Question to those who think that all games are political: How is Kingdom Hearts (the OG game, not the series) political?
Donald Duck is trans.
how would that even be political, unless youre some sort of conservative snowflake
Light = good
Dark = bad
Philosophy
You could probably torture some sort of political interpretation out of the way the keyholes and the barriers between the worlds are handled.
Ansem is an incel
King Triton is an isolationist who thinks being able to freely travel to other worlds can only bring destruction.
disney/square corporate icons in video games means that as fun as the game is it's always got an undertone of being a big advertisement
also pretty sure like half the cast are faggots
Don't listen to retarded trannies.
>implying philosophy isn't political
>donald duck runs around with no pants on
that fucker is breaking the law on several worlds he visits how is that not political
THIS IS THE BEST REPLY AND THE MOST ACTUALLY POLITICAL THEME IN THE GAME
fpbp
it's definitely got a neoliberal "unite the world against evil" attitude. a bit naive, but not detrimentally so.
Kingdom hearts stops kids from bullying each other.
Traverse Town isolates the 1st district from the dangerous aggressive "Black" locals to reduce casualties and crime rates.
Sora became a huge bigot in KH2 and massacred nobodies who didnt deserve it
Wonderland shows the terrors of monarchies and blind obedience. The card soldiers were willing to kill 2 children, a duck, and a fucking dog over the whims of some power drunk fat bitch. Their judicial system is extremely flawed they seem to have no spectrum of punishment and go straight to the death sentence, no matter how much evidence you provide the final decision is ultimately down to a game of fucking chance, that seems to be rigged to your demise, almost as if that sick fat bitch wants to see someone's roll.
Borders must be maintained at all costs. Failure to do so causes a loss of "order:" It is so extreme that even letting people know that something even exists across the world borders is taboo. The denizens of the worlds must be lied to to keep the secret that the world used to be whole and one with other worlds, for the greater good.
There is also a political message about might makes right with Riku, but this is proven to be false when Sora beats him not with might, but with compassion. So the message is "might makes right is wrong"
There is also a slight anti-nihilist message.
...what fucking dog?
The heartless are supposed to be syrian refugees, and King Mickey decides to search for the savior of the innocent, finding Sora - who is a proud aryan child that dislikes his parents enough to not care about dinner -
to prevent the invasion of the worlds in order to keep the terrorists out. To be honest you have to have a high IQ to understand the political undertones of the series, I wouldn't expect everyone to understand that because of all the Disney characters.
Kingdom Hearts says black people are bad
>Sora overthrows a monarchy
>Hollow Bastion becomes a government run by the people
That's bullshit though because whatever truths emerge in an isolated setting would only be a slice of the pie, it's better shatter their boundaries and show them a greater universal truth.
Ya dun goof'd son
the barriers are there for a reason. The world(s) has no need for revolutionaries like you. Mickey is sending his goon squad to you at this very moment
But Mickey's goon squad meddles the most!
the fuck?
goofy is a dog?
what the fuck?
here are some topics you could consider if you try hard enough.
>Sora’s first place to visit when he gets out is a world crowded with homeless people from other places.
>shadows being homeless immigrants who rely on their claws for survival in places where they “don’t belong”, meanwhile the King exerts his tyrannical iron fist to close the door and lock up the immigrants in their shit home forever, with Ansem being the leader agitator that helped them escape and Maleficent being the mother figure
>this because Triton is a racist fuck who treats everyone non-fish like shit, and even if you are, he still grumbles of never seeing you before so watch out
Oh, shit. Well played.
All the keyblade wielders have to die because the risk over saturating the economy system, what's the point of going to college or working a 9 to 5 when some teenager is making 2x more than your mortgage just killing heartless and doing oddjobs.
What the hell did you think he was?
well what did you think he was?
>tried to read that in his voice
jesus christ
prepare for mickeys ha ha right up your asshole buddy
god damn zoomers!
It's marketing for a nightmarish monopolistic corporation that project a creepy veneer of childlike innocence to distract from its sinister methods of doing business.
>not the series
no fuck you
>>Xehanort wants to unite all worlds into one
>brown mixed race and androgynous
>elite university research intellectual who published hundreds of papers
>scatters his commie knowledge throughout all worlds before the gestapo close in on him
>imperial capitalist King Mickey works behind the scenes meddling in other worlds and orders his CIA spies to search for the “key” while maintaining the “world order” to defeat the shadowy socialist forces
>riku lands in the world with the most unequal distribution of wealth, hollow bastion, against all odds gets out of the ghetto, probably by nefarious means, with no one helping him
>sora lands in a white middle class town with royal friends ready to give him the financial and technological support of an entire imperial kingdom to vanquish the “darkness”
>”those who know nothing can understand nothing” -common language used in intellectual left social circles “woke/unwoke”
>darkness = enlightenment/maturity/change -”darkness is the heart’s true essence”
>light = faith/traditions/control -“believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you.”
>”So, you have come this far and still you understand nothing. Every light must fade, every heart return to darkness!” -every religion and nation must fade, return to Rousseau’s natural state of man
>enlightened NORTED individuals literally turn brown, acknowledging the colored complexion they had all along they were brainwashed into believing was wrong
>heartless = leftists, blacks, gays, jews, weak, poor -historically oppressed classes uniting against the status quo who only stand a fighting chance in mass numbers
>keyblade = reactionary childish innocence subconsciously supporting capitalist institutions, only temporarily delaying the inevitable
>Xehanort = Lenin
well he was flirting with that cow chick all the time so i thought he was a cow.
Ansem wanted blacks to have rights in all worlds so naturally Sora had to stop him.
Also where are all the black people in kingdom hearts? I swear the only ones i know that aren't disney characters are Xehanort
In hindsight almost every other Disney short character's love interest is the same species as them, so I can kind of see why you'd think that. He's the odd one out.
that line was deliberately made complex to make you feel smart. just say that they wouldn’t get it.
these people are third worlders and their schools don’t teach the stuff you studied at home.
DiZ does blackface, does that count?
well desu he doesn't look like any animal at all. cow was me just being like a confused machine learning algorithm, saying, yeah 20% likely is 19%than anything else, that's gotta be it
i just checked wiki and yeah he is a dog
but this fucking confuses me because wtf what is the deal with pluto then
i have been seeing pluto as a regular dog for 30 yrs now
wtf
is there a difference between pluto and goofy
are there animal-dogs and people-dogs in disneyland then
are there animal and people versions of every snimal there
wtf is going on send halp pls
gooby pls
Hold up. So Xehanort is actually the good guy?
Humanoid animals and nonhuman animals being in the same setting happens every now and then, it's weird.
Sonic Heroes has a giant, but otherwise realistic looking crocodile attack you at one point; in that same game you have a human-sized talking crocodile as one of the playable characters. It's fucking weird.
The KH universe is anti-globalism and promotes the extremes of sovereign statecraft. Those from other states can't interfere with the affairs of another across their borders and interaction between sovereign states is prohibited
user play kh3, Xehanort being the good guy is very clearly state in KH3's ending. The guy was trying to save the world.
I will, once there's a complete edition with all the DLC.
Imagine still not undertanding that Kingdom Hearts setting is super metaphysical and stuff that would be conceptual irl or other fiction is completely literal in Kingdom Hearts.
Like, because the worlds were cut off, they each developed their actual own reality based on their own understanding of the truth, with their own cartoon physics and sentience and afterlifes and gods, some worlds have sentient talking ducks, others have animated bones, others have genies that can grant wishes, while other worlds have physics and realities that make those things impossible. It is because in Kingdom Hearts, the belief and understanding of truth can make literal, physical reality- as opposed to our world, where physical reality doesn't bend to our beliefs, just our understanding of it bends.
This is why world borders are important. If enough people from one world got to another, the physics and dynamics of that world might start falling apart.
hrm.
actually, now that i think about it, isn't pluto the weird one here? were there other animals that were not people anywhere or was it just pluto?
There was a Disney short where Donald was a zookeeper who took care of an elephant.
I thought it was very clearly specified that he had a good goal, but he was trying to achieve it in all the wrong ways and for all the wrong reasons.
of course he is. He wanted the balance between darkness and light and not like the retarted masters who wanted to extinguish everything that isin't light.
As funny as that it no. Here's proof that only villains such as Xehanorts are black
I figured the deal with Xehanort is that using darkness fucks with your head. He started out with good intentions but he drove himself mad with his methods. Beating the hell out of him at the end of 3 likely restored his clarity.
Kingdom Hearts is gay as fuck. Everything, from the name to the disney shit and the anime artstyle. Stay mad weebs.
>The antagonists motivations are understandable, therefore he must be the good guy!
Holy shit do none of you understand nuance?
Yes, Xehanort claims to have good intentions (though altruism is clearly not his primary motivating factor, as anyone could see)
His methods to achieving said intentions were still wrong, and the characters themselves state this
The Remind trailer implies that MoM manipulated him and his perspective on the world. BBS secret reports kinda support this as you can clearly see that his perspective and beliefs started getting distorted sometime after leaving to travel to outside worlds.
Monstro and Hook’s ship running in outer space, also Beast in Hollow Bastion throw that theory out of the window.
not to mention the summon mechanics, but we’ll let that slide considering it’s just for the sake of gameplay convenience
I always felt that the Kingdom Hearts series was low key video gamings great postmodernist epic that everyone dismisses as being too juvenile to ever look at seriously. Its story and lore is famously dense and complicated. There's some substance there.
>tfw KH is the Eastern equivalent of Planescape
It's definitely not just Pluto. Minnie also has a pet cat
And he's absolutely correct.
This
fuck off
Triton was redpilled as fuck
The game came out before the refugee crisis.
>Minnie walking around topless
Holy shit Walt, what did he mean by this?
>outer space
You mean the lanes between. They are between worlds. There is no "outer space" in KH3, and it is debatable how the sun and moons work in the universe, because the stars are not suns, but the shining lights of hearts.
Also one or two people do not ruin the mechanics, but imagine the chaos that would assume if there was free travel between worlds and different understandings of physics and reality between people. KH is filled with trippy shit in the conflict between light and darkness, imagine the dual or tripple realities occuring simultaneously if you have shit like, mickey mouse disney characters freely visiting worlds like pirates of the carribean en masse. The entire reality of that world would be challenged, with cartoon physics and realisitc physics existing side by side simultaneously, a schrodinger approach to reality. Sora already makes things weird enough just from him, Donald, and Goofy visiting, imagine if hundreds or thousands were. Shit would go off the rails.
Nomura can see into the future.
>implying he was smart
if he was truly concerned about his kingdom, he’d side with Sora instead of bitching about him and turning a blind eye to the heartless, like an ingrateful fuck who doesn’t want firemen invading his burning house.
he was only concerned about his daughterfu’s coochie being at risk. Triton has some deep freudian shit to sort out. Even Flounder was constantly under watch by Sebastian.
You consider that black? So every Mediterranean person is actually black? That's dumb, user.
Its all perspective. Like Silicians were the blacks of Italy
But Mickey is mostly black.
mednigger
You've got that the other way around, brainlet. All politics is based on philosophy. However, philosophy is not necessarily political.
>Post-modern
That word doesn't mean what you think it means, user.
Does it? I thought calling a series that takes individual elements from well known cartoons to craft a great, epic narrative with its own intricate story and lore out of it "postmodernist" would be appropriate. I always assumed it referred to fiction that plays with the ideas of genre and the inherently artificial nature of fiction.
I'm not some dickless hipster shit who makes excuses for peddling propaganda because a republican president makes them rump ruffled.
But I can imagine what their method of thinking would be since it is seldom even about actual politics and is instead "identity politics".
>It has a hetero "white" male protagonist
>The love interest is a damsel in distress along with all the other princesses
>None of the princesses are plus sized women so it is all effectively fat shaming
>Every female antagonist is a just a condemnation of all women
>All the princesses are pretty and feminine which enforces more steriotyphical gender roles and supports heteronormitivity
>The antagonist is a person of color
>The majority of the gameplay is beating black enemies to death
>The innate violence of the game encourages toxic masculinity
>Not enough LGBTBBQROFL representation
>Agrabah is a problematic representation of middle-eastern culture
That is how they think.
It isn't about the romanticized idea of monarchy or anything else to really do with actual politics.
Why don't you talk to some people on the political left once in a while instead of constructing elaborate strawmen from cherrypicked, out of context editorial headlines and tweets people post on Yea Forums?
How
Explain.
What are the sinister methods?
