I successfully completed both N64 games in emulation over a decade ago. The first game played fine, but I had to do some fucky shit to get past the water sections in Goemon's Great Adventure. But like this user said the glide plugin now exists that fixes those problems. I've replayed it since then and had no issue

Goemon 1 NES is okay. Skip the MSX version.
Goemon 2 NES is actually really good.
I haven't played either of the Gaiden RPGs.
Mystical Ninja on SNES is good.
The Sarawareta Ebisumaru one on the Konami collection is surprisingly good.
I didn't bother finishing the other Mystical Ninja on gameboy.
Mystical Ninja on N64 was pretty good.
And Goemon's Great Adventure is one of my favorite 2D platformers of all time. 10/10

Goemon is based on a Japanese folk hero and thief who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, Ishikawa Goemon. Goemon is basically the Japanese Robinhood, that's why he jumps around town throwing out money in the NES games. The real life Goemon was boiled alive

Also Ebisumaru might be based off another theif Nezumi Kozō (pic related) but I'm not sure, I'm too drunk to remember

You're right, Ebi is based on Nezumi Kozo.

Actually the MSX Version of Karakuri Dochu had Ebisumaru called Nezumi Kozo (this was also his first appearance).

Probably both. His namesake isn’t indicative of the homage but the character says he thinks of himself like Kozo. He’s also inexplicably real good with the ladies which ties in with Kozo being a bigamist/polygamist.

iirc Goemon sees Yae as more of a big sis to the team than anything else.

The soundtrack for this game is severely underrated. It's also amazing how crisp the audio quality is compared to other n64 games.

Mii costumes should have been limited to franchises who have reps in the actual roster. Otherwise it just feels like salt, like this example.
