The prize for first place was supposed to be 5,000,000 yen (around $50k USD), but because he decided to refuse JeSU he'll only receive 100,000 yen (-$10k USD).
>In this thread we laugh at eSports and FGC. no we laugh at Japan stupid ass laws and Momochi basically saying fuck you to the Yakuza.
Juan Reyes
The hell is JeSU
Dylan Roberts
>to receive only a part of the prize due to Japan's gambling laws why >but because he decided to refuse JeSU he'll only receive 100,000 yen (-$10k USD). what does this mean?
Brody Hernandez
Japanese jews need the money more than him
Eli Morris
OP is retarded and doesn't know how numbers work
Nolan Campbell

Seems like eSports is truly a blowup, huh? At least it is so as far as the FGC is concerned.
>expecting jews to not ruin anything involving money
Henry Collins
I mean, eSports can also come with benefits. Everytime I look at the MOBA community I see lots of advantages despite the cons that are typical of going eSports. Production value is immense compared to the FGC and even the actual games reflect that. "eSports" in the FGC just means for third parties to step in, remove any sort of community effort so that they can get money on their own and make the "C" out of "FGC" not really the same. All of this while the overall scene is still very poverty and the games are still lackluster in terms of polish and QoL stuff that are required for eSports games.
Christian Bell
Why would anybody give a shit about anything the jews bring to the "community"(in reality it's only a few players)? Esports has directly resulted in less games being run in tournaments and more drama. The FGC has really gone to shit in the past 2 years.
Grayson Martin
You can't accept more than ¥100,000 prize money because above that figure qualifies as unauthorized gambling... unless you're a member of the Japanese eSports Union.
Christian Smith
>watching the vod on youtbe >at top 3 right now >see this god damn it OP
Adam Martinez
>Why would anybody give a shit about anything the jews bring to the "community"(in reality it's only a few players)? You should ask investors and higher-ups.
>entering a competition whose candidates rely on skill and game knowledge, not luck, to win >gambling Sounds like complete horseshit to force you to join JeSU.
Wyatt Smith
Its only not gambling if the players are registered as pros, them it is a sport.
But Momochi didn't like how those licences were being distributed based on skill and results alone, because that meant people like his wife, who is dedicated to the FGC but isn't skilled enough to be a pro, would never get a licence.
Colton White
Japanese boomers think video games play themselves
Jonathan Williams
Aww, he's only getting $46,000 :( BOO FUCKING HOO HE'S ONLY GETTING PAID 46 THOUSAND DOLLARS AFTER PLAYING VIDEOGAMES WHAT A TRAGEDY
SOMEONE CALL THE NEWS, SOMEONE RIOT IN FRONT OF THE GOVERNMENT WE NEED TO FIX THIS NEW WORLD ORDER
instead of winning 50k dollars he only got 1k, OP is really bad at math.
Ryan Thomas
That's hella gay. Fuck Japan.
Camden Cruz
It's more than that. He's not happy that third parties are getting into the way of the community and pretty much stealing their effort at growing. We (at least in the US) had a bit of that with the eLeague drama.
>Explain to me how fair competition is gambling It's not, which is why they're allowed to do this in the first place. These laws are designed to keep collusion from happening. At least that's what they claim.
All fighting games are pretty much kinda gambling too. Making a read doesn't mean your read had a 100% chance of being true, it's just an educated guess based on your opponent's conditioning during the match and where he is at the stage. Even if I make the read (educated guess) that this pro player will not DP on wakeup because that's a scrub habit, he could still end up doing it because he's reading me too. You can't 100% tell that this player will do this move or do that, it's just a series of guesses. And whoever guesses the most in each round wins.
Nathaniel Foster
You could say the same thing for any sport, user, but they're not considered gambling unless you're part of some silly organization.
Ian Morgan
8% to 10% Same reason why the phrase "The jews fear the samurai exist"
Dylan Edwards
For you to get knocked down, you need to get hit while in neutral. Momochi's performance in yesterday's tournament was remarkable because he would almost always win the neutral game. And neutral in fighting games is akim to fencing.
Chase Gomez
You're gambling on whether you choose better option selects than the opponent. At least for SFV Also Momochi's a gamble himself. Fades out of relevance for years, then towards the end of the game's life, he shows up, wrecks for a year, then fades out again.
Brayden Lee
do japanese boomers just think all video games are pachinko or something?
Ayden Sanders
Despite the japanese videogame industry being the most important one in the whole globe, Japan is still ultimately a very conservative country.
Yeah the law is dumb, but if you want to pay rent this month fucking sign up for the union. I don't fucking get these people. >Hey you've gotta sign up with us to get money >Why? That's dumb >It's just the way things work >Well fuck that >Okay, but if you don't sign up you can't get major prize money if you win >DUUUDE WHAT THE FUCK HE WON BUT HE WON'T GET THE PRIZE MONEY??? WHAT THE FUUUUUCK?!!!!! Who gives a fuck how dumb the law is? You want the money, jump when the government/union says jump.
Jack Adams
>>DUUUDE WHAT THE FUCK HE WON BUT HE WON'T GET THE PRIZE MONEY??? WHAT THE FUUUUUCK?!!!!! Well, that's the reaction we have, not him. Maybe he's fine with not getting the entire bread, if that means sticking to his principles.
