For a couple of years up until recently Minecraft awareness was off in the wayside of many gamer minds while they were enraptured by PUBG and Fortnite. It certainly wasn't a punching bag or the butt of many jokes though.

I think the hate for the game came from the amount of obnoxious youtubers playing it back in the day, it's the best game for gameplay videos so they all jumper on to it. Then the trend died and they moved to other things, so most of them became irrelevant because there's no other game that works so well on youtube. Pewdiepie didn't revive it by playing, he is just the beginning of a new downfall, now that he popularized it again, a bunch of those obnoxious youtubers are going to be back and it will get oversaturated again. Or not... who knows

I just never enjoyed minecraft all that much because the games "content" doesn't even feel like content. For a game with the fucking name minecraft, only the crafting portion is any fun. I can't believe in 10 years the games mining aspect hasn't even been slightly made more enjoyable other than enchantments to make shit go by faster. Minecraft always feels like it could do with more but they keep adding stupid useless shit like mobs that don't do anything to help the game.
