DS and Woolly World are pretty solid, New Island is mediocre, and Crafted World is extreme babby mode to all accounts. Never played Yoshi's Story though.

Presumably the only challenge is 100%ing each level, but it's incredibly annoying to do that since some levels seem to require you restarting from the beginning if you miss something, and getting everything may require shooting at every piece of random background scenery in case it has something. Also it seems like the game was originally designed such that you could flip the world around, but I didn't see that in the levels I played, so it didn't even pull off its gimmick.

Fucking this, YCW is unironically one of my favourite games this year on any system. Had a great time playing comfy co-op with my gf in between sweaty fuck sessions.
There's more imagination and creativity on YCW's title screen than most games have in their entirety.

Probably because they quickly realised the game would be a confusing mess. There's certain points in some levels where you can flip the world around as part of a find-the-flower challenge. Its always immediately disorientating and jarring - which the point of the those challenges.
No they figured out that having the whole game like that would be a confusing and generally shit idea.

Yoshi's Story is cute but not really comparable to this game. Yoshi's Island DS, New Island, Woolly World, and Crafted World aren't terrible but they're not worth playing either. Honestly if you want more, your best bet is the GBA port which has a few extra levels.
