I just wish there were less spergs playing this fucking game. I even picked an RP server in the hope that all the minmaxers, mouthbreathers and asocial robots would be contained to other servers but they still make up most of the population. Honestly what is even the POINT in playing an MMO if you are never going to engage with emergent gameplay or other players (whether in your faction or not). It's so easy to pick off enemy players who are oblivious to and unfazed by your presence in contested zones, especially as they won't group up. I even spare the ones who /wave or whatever but they will literally try to run through you as if you don't exist.

Then when they're on your faction they are just a waste of a slot because they will never engage in WPvP, groups, be instance members that can pull their own weight or share quests etc. If they are in your guild they will never say anything, join any raids and will otherwise just be irrelevant. The minmaxers are basically the same except they start screeching when things don't go exactly the way they envisioned, which is arguably more annoying but at least shows they are human beings engaged with the game. But to me they are equally as bizarre because they are engaging with the wrong part of the MMO experience, namely grinding mobs as opposed to playing with other people.

Other than that (and the sharding in cities) it's a pretty good recreation of an alright game. It's been nice playing through the first few weeks as everyone started at the same point but is now gradually branching out. The fact I've been slacking over the last week has meant that I've missed the materials AH gravy train and now all my surplus wool is worthless. Hopefully the silk market is better

I played casters and healers on retail from the end of vanilla to the end of Wrath so playing a Rogue this time is a nice change of pace.

I am having the mmo experience in years with my troll priest. Just entered Khe Stranglesan for the first time and the wpvp is awesome.

Im actually thinking of going to retail after I've had so much fun on classic, because I haven't played it since pre cata.

Classic is better for players who don't want a challenge too. So you can play classic both to avoid having to git gud and avoid cash shop.

Ultimately everyone is using one another in this game to reach the same goal of min-maxing, whether by having you invited to a quest or an instance, or to kill some gankers, or answer some question they were too lazy to look up. People aren't concerned with making friends in the game as much now as that was something almost unique to online games at the time and has since been supplanted.

Honestly more mechanics doesn't equate into more fun. FFXIV raids are spammed to death with way too many mechanics that are not hard to conquer, but they're absolutely braindead because they're just repeats from previous bosses. It's like playing Twister while you're executing the same Simon Says sequence for your skills. It's boring. I prefer the gear check and 2-3 mechanics of WoW classic raids. Hell, even Guild Wars 2 raids are more fun.

It's really fun finding random people and leveling with them, even when you might never see them again after that session. I spend hours just following around a guy who let me in his group even though he was 6 levels higher than me. He let me leech experience off him while I basically just walked around with him.

you could have always gone Bear Druid, had fun, and NOT worried about getting into an autistic raiding guild and instead made your own
