It does make sense, he reflected a physical move back at him. Game logic it doesn't work because of the turn mechanics, but in anime the transition works countering back with a stronger attack.

The last few leagues don't even feel like part of the original continuity since Ash only uses that region's Pokemon. Also I didn't watch BW but XY and SM rushed the fuck out of their leagues. It did not feel like some grand event but rather a slightly longer gym battle or two. Where is the buildup, the opening ceremony, the preliminaries, and closing? This is supposed to be the big event of the series yet it felt so half assed these past few times. Also, SM is safe from this but fuck the stadium design of XY. I love the classic looks better.

His earlier ideas for ending the anime were it to come to that were pretty wild. One was a dream ending where Ash wakes up as an old man and it turns out Pokémon never really existed. Another involved Pikachu causing an all-out war between humans and Pokémon.
