I really liked the sickly Cloud look that the initial trailers showed. The Midgar sections of FFVII always had a really grungy, dirt feel to them, and Cloud looking like a cancer patient reflected the harsh environment and his warped mental state.

Kitase/Nomura said that they were going to make it all in one game, but they went overboard and realised that they would have to dedicate a whole game to Midgar and have the series in parts due to the scale of transferring the game into a 3D space. That reddit fag is confusing an RPG with a "gacha game". Most gacha games out there have some sort of turn-based/pseudo-action RPG combat system, with an option to turn on auto-battle for people who cannot focus 100% on the game all the time (see: commuting, idle playing at work, etc).
This is extremely common in many other mobile games that are not gacha games.

Gacha games are about money sinking and drawing random characters/equipment using luck-based summons (with or without a pity factor to smoothen out the experience) and temporary event/campaigns/banners. There is literally zero (0) evidence of that being present in FF7R as of now (correct me if I'm wrong).

Now, the only thing that can kinda remotely compare to a "phone game" is the auto-battle, which is only present in the "classic" mode that basically just turns the game into a turn-based RPG with some in-between action happening on screen... which is not a bad thing in and on itself (and if you don't like it, don't play it).

It's basically the same as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 combat system, with some auto-attack and QTE-like timed skills. And THAT game was gacha because it had crystals to pull blades from. Not FF7R.

Not only that, but any game with turnbased combat or something similar is going to be gacha shit, so DA:O, KotOR, Fire Emblem, etc. all are gacha style. Then there's the fact that the main reason to be against gacha/mobile games isn't the gameplay but because they contain pay to win, and lootbox mechanics.

Well, they only portrayed like what, the first boss or so in the game with level 1 characters with only 1 or 2 skills each, at best? Again, there are other games that have done that perfectly well while keeping interesting and enjoyable gameplay mechanics without problems. See: Xenoblade Chronicles 1 or 2. There's nothing wrong with that. We only saw a few glimpes of very early combat. This kind of combat system takes time to evolve depending on how you build your characters and skills setup. We haven't been shown anything of that so far in FF7R so I'll keep my options open instead of being a doomfag and complaining about it for no reason.
I'm usualy skeptical on new games, but from what I've seen so far FF7R looks really good, both in adaptation/remake and in gameplay.

Xenoblade 1 and X are like MMOs. Each ability has its own cooldown and you can perform them whenever they are ready, you don't need to pick one then wait for your next turn to do another. In X they charge up again for extra power/effects. While in 2, you do charge your abilities with auto attacks, just like in the first 2 games they each have their own cooldown like a MMO.

Tifa 7R combat is literally just Eight's combat from Type-0. Except Eight has actual stances that you have in combat like Wildfire/raging fire Stance or Thunderclap stance or Gale stance etc, Tifa doesn't have actual stances but Eight has the same uppercut spin, downward attack, spinning kick and normals that Tifa has and a bunch of others. Like how Tifa's Triangle attack is Omnipunch then Bash, Eight has Diamond Knuckles to Rising Uppercut on whichever button you assign the Knuckles to.

This is not necessarily true, a lot of PS1 era story content was much faster than it would be in the modern 3D era of facial animations, camera work, CGI cutscenes, etc. You can either have a 5 minutes dialogue with two semi-static 3D models, or a more involved 15 minutes story presentation (between multiple segments of gameplay) as you navigate a much more complex 3D world from different angles. Exploration is also on a whole different level, and this isn't even touching things like adding/refining story content and possible side-quests (as long as they aren't shit content padding like in XV, fingers crossed).
Hell, I can guarantee you that even if you just took the original FF7 Midgar script and added ONLY voice acting, those ~5 hours of gameplay will stretch out to at least 15 because there are that many voiced lines that you can't just skip over unlike in text which is based on your reading speed.

This is even ignoring potentially cut content from the original FF7 game (remember the sick guy and the rumors of the "ghost of Aerith"?) or things that tie back into the rest of the FF7 franchise that simply did not exist when the original game came out.

If the content is good, interesting, and is not just obvious content padding (again, this is important), then I'll be very happy. It doesn't need to be a 1:1 clone of the original game, as long as the spirit of it is still in there.
