Naughty Dog animators and gameplay designers are like on completely different floors or something. It's so weird having all those super detailed animations in a super floaty gameplay. I'd say ND animations are pretty garbage precisely because of the huge disconnect between animations and gameplay. If you want a TPS game with great animations, look no further than Max Payne 3. That's what ND should've drawn inspiration from years ago but still their games have these awkward animations that don't belong with the gameplay at all. It's so bad.

EVERY SINGLE monster enemy in nioh besides maybe the spiders is directly based on a specific yokai and you have no idea what you're talking about
there are plenty of yokai in folklore to draw off of and I can't believe you are defending koei tecmo's extreme laziness
Feints in the game can sometime look really unnatural where characters suddenly stop all momentum mid animation and hard feints having needless ghosting effect. Though Chinese heroes also have bunch of bad animations, they all honestly feel very rushed, terrible movesets, bad gimmicks. Then again that goes for almost every hero after Year 1.
Also because game used to be mo-capped they can't simply fasten up some animation without them looking really bad. Raider post rework seems to have bunch of terrible animations on his stunning tap and they only sped it up by 100ms.

It's not just Fortnite. It's so many western AAA titles where their priorities are all wrong. They don't connect animations to gameplay so you have these well detailed and expensive animations that only exist to show themselves off. And then the gameplay is left to suffer because animations and gameplay don't sync at all. This is a common problem in western games and only increasing as devs push further towards realism with gameplay still being outlandish. I think MKXI is a good example how they've taken realism too far, completely killing the goofy charm of MK, venturing instead into liveleak-like gore.

Oh if only. For Honor's team is just very incompetent. Every patch some completely random shit breaks. Recently they accidentally removed a wall from the game on a specific map while trying to fix it. They managed to regress one of the character to pre-patch state while nothing like that being written in patch notes. They even managed to randomly break the progression limit and they themselves had no idea what caused that and how to fix it. Then there's also some gamebreaking tech that they simply can't fix without scrapping and rebuilding the entire game. Thankfully everyone forgot about that and game doesn't has enough dedicated autist to test every single combination on figuring it out how to do it again.
Also regarding weapon not moving they actually made a big deal out of Shaolin's staff bending and how much work it took and only time it's used is during some execution and end game signature.
Though on other hand this is probably their first try on making something like this inhouse with no prior experience, they certainly have improved from launch state though so maybe if people keep eating on season passes maybe we might get something decent if they think of making another game like this one but I don't think they could salvage current one.
They're even trying to give the game one more push with some friend referral system and finally giving out an ok spectator cam

i didn't say that the shitty falling, walking down steep slope, jumping, and takedown animations were anything positive, i only said that they are irrelevant because there's hundreds of other good animations you'll see while playing and they only last for a few seconds at most.

Get world on pc. If you take your time getting comfy and slowly plugging through the game, then it should last you up until the release of iceborne.
Generations Ultimate is fun as well and you can get more hours out of it more easily then than in world.

The transitions can be really smooth, they tend to break when combining multiple quick actions like unholstering a weapon while rolling and changing direction.
Thankfully they put gameplay over animation unlike games such as RDR2

It's Monster Hunter's Greatest Hits the Game. Generations Ultimate has the most monsters of any Monster Hunter past or present and to diversify the gameplay they added in hunting styles and skills called hunter arts. It also introduced Deviant monsters, which are basically if certain monsters reached their ultimate forms from surviving battles.
Honestly if you're able to get both games so you'll have a little bit of everything, especially when World's weapon designs aren't up to snuff yet and outright removes attacks from certain monsters or replaces them with something pointless.
Speaking of which has it been confirmed Deviljho can eat people in Master Rank, or is it still that stupid throw they gave it? It looks like Rathian and Rathalos still can't for some reason.

The problem with piece of shit like Uncharted is that the animations and gameplay clash too fucking much. Whereas in games made by competent teams, the animations take gameplay into consideration and are animated after that. ND animators are obviously just fellating their own egos making these animations because they sure as fuck don't bother making sure it fits into the greater whole. It's embarrassing just how disconnected UC4 animations are to its gameplay FOUR INSTALLMENTS IN.
I'll never understand why people endlessly praise MGSV's controls and animations, it's all clunky as fuck. MGS2 and MGS4 were extremely smooth and intricate, amusingly most Big Boss's games are janky experimental shit
How in the world is MGSV janky? It's the most responsive fluid open-world I've ever played. Snake does everything you want him to instantly.
