Don't compare this to Dump Souls. Thank you.

Why not?

its a souls clone though

I would go as far as to say they share a similar genre

I'm enjoying it too I just think it's a little too easy so far

It's literally not a souls game user
Just because it has a health item that recharges at a save station doesn't make it souls at all.

hate doing blind jumps to fall on spikes.
fuck spikes and fuck anyone who makes them instant kills

But in those games you have some kind of customization. This doesn't have it. It's like saying that Rage 2 is similar to Destiny.

>no way to look downward
guess i'll just wonder if theres spikes or not

the only mechanic similar to souls is how checkpoints work, other than that it's pretty much a metroidvania, more metroid and less vania too since it has no indefinite leveling system and progression is more deliberate.

>the atmosphere
>the combat parry and dash
>the exploration and folding levels
>the home base and death mechanic
They are very similar

>homebase
>invented by dark souls

Attached: 1561420348070.png (720x616, 329K)

not even a little

Don't forget the shitty lore

don't forget souls also invented exploration and interconnected 2d worlds

clearly inspired, but I don't really consider 2D Metroidvanias to be Souls-likes, the platforming element is too big a gameplay change.

Does this game have RPG mechanics like SOTN? Or is is straight 2D hack n slash?

nah the progression is more similar to metroid, you unlock various spells and powerups but it's not stat based, more item based that you unlock through exploration.

it's got a skill tree and item powerups

Souls didn't invent jack shit.

Before I buy, how much of boss encounters are spamming jump up attack and do they have annoying hit boxes by just touching their bodies?

>soulsborne

getting hit from enemy contact in this game is weird, certain enemies damage through contact and others dont. Not to mention you unlock an item later in the game that makes you not take damage from normal contact, but it's also weird since it works with certain enemies but doesn't work with others, I honestly have no idea if there's a rule or anything to what damages you by touching or what isn't, seems like Devs just went about it randomly.

Soulsbornes are just 3D Metroidvanias.

literally only dark souls 1 can be considered that and even then only the first half, the rest of the souls games lack that crucial Gameworld aspect that metroidvanias are known for.

The bosses are pretty well designed.

Metroidvanias have platforming, Soulsbornes do not outside of edge cases like Sekiro.

God this game fucking sucks
The gameplay is absolutely horrible
Contact damage means that every fight is slow and boring because you gotta be SO fucking careful to not be TOUCHED by an enemy, but it doesn't matter because the hitboxes are broken and you'll get hit anyways.
>Your just bad, you gotta get gud
No im not, the game is just fucking buggy and broken with stuipid game design.
Like for instance the bosses
They are WAAAY to fucking easy
Its all just flashy attacks, super easy to dodge and evade. They serve only to aid in the visual aspect of the game.
And then you got the platforming
Why the fuck does a game with these controls have to have fucking platforming of all things?
God its fucking horrible its just instant death spikes, oh you fall your dead.
Fuck this game
sound tracks great
visuals are great
story is great
but the game itself is SOOO fucking tedious and frustrating

your just bad, you gotta get gud

>it's so easy
>except all this stuff I suck at

I bought it on GOG a few days ago and i've been enjoying it too.

considering the jump button just decides to not jump sometimes, it's not really about skill

PEBCAC 101

>Contact damage

contact damage is so much less compared to enemy attacks, it's negligible.

are you being ironic or serious? there is a button to look down

I just 100%ed the game a couple of hours ago and the jump button hasn't failed on me a single fucking time, maybe check your peripherals before you blame the game

Wow, all the hard parts of the game are hard because of broken mechanics, bugs and shitty game design.
Ya im just bad though
If you actually like this game for its actual gameplay. Your a fucking idiot who supports these retarded devs who aren't competent enough to design even the simplest of mechanics

FPS is limited to 60, so I dropped it immediately.
Looks like fucking garbage because of it.

I have never seen a garbage indie game shilled this hard

Not him but during a boss battle the dodge button just flat out stopped working on me, I managed to beat it though and fixed the issue by quitting to the main menu. I've also had the jump button fail a few times

Attached: D5yeq3Q.jpg (768x1024, 110K)

They also invented combat parry and dash, right?

>he fell for the 144hz meme

Yikes.

This is the only thread I've seen for it after release.

>Dark Souls
>inventing anything
lol, youre a fucking zoomer if you actually think so, because it didn't invent shit, it just take mechanics from 90s games and put them all together.
Making a collage isnt inventing shit, user.

it's 70% Metroid, 20% Castlevania and 10% Dark Souls.

What
isn't it really easy to uncap by just going into the game files?
user are you fucking retarded?

@478049407
Are vague, blatantly wrong opinions the newest form of trolling on Yea Forums? Pretending to be retarded was never considered “trolling” to begin with.

>This is the only thread I've seen for it after release.
you haven't been on Yea Forums much since release have you

It breaks several mechanics if you do.
I, obviously, wouldn't be complaining if it didn't.

I was able to play at 120 fps just fine
are you trying to play on like 200+?
Because that pretty much breaks any game

Messes with platforming a lot. Also makes jumping down through platforms stupidly hard, for some reason.

Huh, I had that issue running it at 60fps
BUT
If you run it at something like 30fps all the problems seem to dissapear
Problem is that who the fucks wants to play at 30fps?

another user. how does one change the FPS?

No. It's nothing like souls except on a superficial level, same as Sekiro and Nioh. In Blasphemous' case it's the dark fantasy atmosphere and visual style that's close to souls, not the UI.

Nioh has a lot of mechanical similarities with Souls, though

Yes

Nah

I'd call it dark souls inspired but it's more like SoTN and ghouls and ghosts got thrown in a blender in terms of gameplay.

It's just a simple sidescroller. Cut it with the buzzwords.

I watched all the boss battles and the endings and it looks shitty. Obvious Dark Souls / Castlevania clone-hybrid with nothing new to add. The "execution" system looks intrusive and pointless. I think it's funny how all the enemies have Dark Souls names like "Faggot, Sucker of Cocks" but they just don't look particularly fun to fight. Only 3 or 4 of them have interesting Castlevania-like designs (all the rest being just normal humans like you) and none of them look particularly engaging. The baby fight looks like a letdown since you fight that big snake thing instead of the baby itself.

Hmm, in conclusion, the game sucks monkey fuck.

Attached: gkc.png (952x946, 1.18M)

No, the only Soulsborne games are the Souls games and Bloodborne. You can include Sekiro, but that's starting to push it. Otherwise it's a Souls-like, but Blasphemous is not that either.

user dont remember real shilling like hat on time holy shit that was shilled so fucking much

is it good though? it looks pretty sick

It's not the worst game ever, but the graphics definitely write a check that the gameplay can't cash

There are only three bosses where you fight actual humans like you and they are the best fights in the game, you're retarded.

If I had brain damage, yeah.

Same here got it last night on GOG. Played for about 4 hours from the bed but the sleep got to me and had to put it down. Good game I'm really enjoying it.

this prison area is glitchy as fuck, get me out of here

how many things does it have to copy from dark souls for you to consider it a soulslike

Jesus Christ almighty the posts on this thread, you people are no different than your average Polygon journo

Attached: 1554308247380_0.jpg (640x736, 42K)

>Faggot, Sucker of Cocks
I chuckled

I haven't actually played the game but they look like the worst bosses.

Attached: Isabelle.png (360x663, 301K)

No, it's a metroidvania.
>buh muh parry
Samus returns had a parry attack.

No, the 'one huge sprite' bullethell bosses might look cooler but they are actually extremely boring and easy.

Yeah but they look cool and are thematically appealing. Human bosses are boring and don't require much imagination to concoct. The giant skeleton who is lifted up by the rotting arms is my favorite I think.

Attached: Lamb.jpg (961x1462, 97K)

Yeah but there's nothing fun or interesting about having half of the bosses be all about jumping or holding up.

Did it also have a corpse retrieval system, checkpoints that you respawn at that let you change things about your character, paragraphs of lore on every item description, and a completely esoteric presentation from the story to the progression to the side content involving tons of unique items you don't know what to do with and npcs that you might miss?

I'll go rewatch one of the human bosses then I'll come back and give my analysis.

>I'll watch the game instead of playing it
based retard

>Rival fights
>Not thematically appealing
You're right, the nintendo Head & Hands boss that tanks hundreds of hits and shoots generic art asset spheres at you is way better, it was old looking and had a giant weak spot that didn't glow which was very confusing but it really raised my IQ and made me think about society and stuff so I think that made up for it

it's not a movie

I just watched the Esdras fight and it doesn't look much more immersive than any of the others in terms of button input. You jump over him when he does his spin attack and crouch when he shoots his projectiles, hit him when he finishes his attack. Other than the 3 times during the fight when the player parried I don't see anything about it that is much more "fun" than the others. At least they're visually appealing.

I'm not going to give the devs any money for something that I don't think is worth it.

Attached: Clock.jpg (728x1087, 287K)

>too retarded to torrent the gog version
lmao

It certainly looks cooler than a small sprite which looks the same as yours.

Certainly not gonna play it if I don't like it either. I like the artwork but the gameplay looks rough.

the gameplay is fine, you're just a dumb zoomer

No it looks intrusive and clunky. The glorykill thing looks like a late addition one of the developers wanted after he played DOOM 2016. Combat looks subpar but they cover it up with effects and visuals. Not the game for me, unfortunately.

Attached: Bedroom.png (1236x888, 45K)

This.
By OP's logic, Pokemon is a soulsborne series

I don't recall pokemon having a limited number of potions that recharge at pokemon centers
And I imagine pokemon would be a bit less popular if everything was incredibly obfuscated and you could miss unique content needed for completion completely on accident without realizing

>the parry and dash
>souls inspired
Nigga please

So I beat Melquiades and Exposito. Where do I get the third mask?

you know, there are literally dozens of threads about games I'm not interested in that are up right now, but you don't see me on there complaining about how they're not my cup of tea.

who made this picture... GO WATCH GAMECENTER CX.

>not made by FromSoftware
>doesn't even play like Dark Souls (checkpoint were not created by Souls game, and you don't leave your money behind upon death)
It's such a retarded question user, just like those who are asking if it's anti christian

Go up and left.

Greeting Yea Forums
I am from a series that started back in 1986, by a small company known as Konami. You might heard of our other successes such as Metal Gear from 1987. Or 1988s Contra.

By all technical applications, Souls games are merely Castlevania clones with more weapon selection and 3D combat.
Which makes them pretty good.
Blasphemous is more of a Classicvania deal, and shares a lot design elements if you where to remove checkpoints next to the bosses.
