Most of my enjoyment in Deltarune was the music and UT references. I don't dislike it at all but UT resonated with me much more.

Undertale is refreshing if you come with some knowledge about RPG games in general...but Deltarune is quite tiresome coming directly from Undertale.

It is all very flashy and the music is great which are the strongest points of undertale but having a team mate that does whatever it wants, and another that does little if you decide to aggro gets old fast.

Deltarune, when finished, is most likely going to be carried by its music, graphics, style and dialogue which is very funny and clever but the combat is not the reason why you would want to play it.

Its a dog and based on the character creator who is a girl, as in, female girl opposed to (male) girl.

Undertale definitely, but Deltarune was an incredibly promising first chapter. I won't be surprised if Deltarune ends up surpassing it

How can you compare the two? A fully fledged game and story to the bare beginning of one? Your choices matter in Undertale, so that's a big plus. And Undertale is pleasantly subversive of RPG tropes while Deltarune plays them way more straight, which is kind of boring because if you judge it by the merits of a normal RPG then it's not that engaging.

After the Jevil fight I think this is a pretty incorrect opinion. The combat system is definitely more than capable of supporting fights of much higher engagement (and in my opinion, difficulty), even at only its first part.

Yeah the addition of party members really adds more shit you can do with fights, all of the boss fights except for Toriel and Asgore all relied on gimmicks to add difficulty to the fights, so it was nice to have a bonus boss entire focused on pure bullet hell.

I definitely found most of the combat in deltarune tedious, I was really annoyed by the removal of a way to run away from fights when I was backtracking to find the keys.

undertale is the new Touhou in that there's only one guy you need to ask to licence music and everyone wants it. Undertale is also already in Groove Coaster. The stranger thing is why Taito was the first to jump on instead of Namco or Konami

I don't think it's really fair to compair so a short chunk of a game to a full one. Although I guess I liked deltarune more. The slight improvements to the combat made it alot better. And having the characters as party members made me more attached to them than most of the characters in undertale.I spent 10 minutes trying to walk back from the fountain at the end because I didn't want to leave.
