Creatures had a pretty sizable community at the time, especially Creatures 1.
I just remember jumping with that staff was annoying
Decent game! Played on the PS2, dreaded the section with the trolls.
I see The Hobbit mentioned here from time to time
That game is LITERALLY in my Gamecube right now lol
holy shit my man, i played it too
I bring this up in every LOTR games thread as my favorite. Battle for Middle Earth is more technically sound, but I loved the PC Sierra Hobbit more.
I thought this one was pretty cool when I was a kid.
Literally F-Zero with weapons
I played this with my dad. Very fun.
The ogre part was annoying.
>tfw only played the GBA game but the Gamefaqs guide at the time only went up to the part you were at and you couldn't figure out where to go beyond that cause it was THAT cryptic
that last boss is too fucking hard, maybe one day my man, maybe one day
played both
I had the misfortune of playing the PS2 version. Those load times were agony.
this game was a decent 6 out of 10. I enjoyed it
still don't understand this one
Mother fucking BrainLord was such a good fucking game, but i swear no one else knows what the fuck it is or dont care because it's one of those obscure hidden gems.
based
I had this on Gameboy Advance. I recall some of the puzzles and stages being pretty well designed.
I remember playing a timed demo of it back in the day. Saw it at a local store for $5 and picked it up. The camera is frustrating, vex controls kinda weird, but damn, that combat is satisfying. Ended up getting bored and played Jak instead.
i got this on PC as a gift(physical box and all) but didnt have a decent pc at the time so never even played it
still have it in my closet
dont even know why they gifted me it
This was a pretty neat game, even if it the battle system was a worse pokemon. The writing and music were top tier, but the subpar gameplay along with competing for pokemon for its niche resulted in a pretty unpopular game... i also remember playing the mmo when it came out. A shame it never took off
Hobbit was pretty ok
I played this quite a bit actually. I enjoyed it at the time.
BrainLord is awesome and has a great soundtrack
I remember struggling with some of the puzzles a lot and there was a few crazy secrets in that game
Like falling into one of the pits in just the right spot would bring you to a secret room where you could get some powerful stuff early.
I'm afraid to go back and play it because I feel like the puzzles wouldn't be challenging at all.
But my favourite puzzle was the one where you had to press an unused button on your controller to open a door in the ice palace I think?
That one made me so pissed when I figured it out.
I'm just forever reminded that while he was doing MagiNation(and a manga a few years later for Tokyopop) he was also doing SHITTONS OF GAY FURRY PORN
Never met anyone that played this. was a great game
Uniracers
This game looks really good, wtf
nuh i played this like 2 decades ago
ez
Also i played Hobbit too
The one on the game cube was crazy fun.
I'm playing through this Windows 95 chinese JRPG right now
Surprisingly decent
Pretty good game, OP, even if the treasure chest locks were bullshit sometimes. As for my actual contribution to the thread:
Arx Fatalis
I know I’m not the only one to have played it, but if I can get any others to play it I’ll feel fulfilled, especially if they enjoy it.
I played it on emulator while diving around through old games.
I only stopped playing because I was also playing Treasure Hunter G and Treasures of the Rudra at the time, which are better than it
Brain Lord's still bretty good tho
>implying implications
>if you fucking don't perfectly swing the Wiimote during wonky tennis sections you can't perfect the stage
FUCK
Yea Forums loves this game, try again
Nice. It was my first ever game so i have a lot of good memories from it. I remember messing around with the cheats too. Giant pedestrian mode etc. Fun times
I played it on the PC and it was kind of bad
it had comfy Warcraft-esque graphics though
I have gotten like to the halfway point on the Xbox version, I might have to finish it someday.
Nobody played this im sure because It was never released outside japan. Cute little game. I only played it to help me learn basic japanese
Will never get a third game.
Was just under the radar I guess.
It got a pretty big update a while, added new levels, extras, and characters like Bombshell, Duke Nukem, and Lo Wang.
I mean it was free with Games With Gold and even has mobile ports, but I never see it talked about.
Puzzles can be pretty hard, I've even completed a number of with an alternative solution.
This
I played that game with my gf for a while. We kept murdering each other with lasers.
How's Amerzone compared to the Syberia games?
it's taiwanese actually
the first was better than the second in tone and units
but the second was better in controls and UI and map design
played em
strangely solid action RPG
POD (Planet of Death) racing
Pretty funny, some achievements turned out to be die 200 and 999 times altogether and die 50 times on one level.
The worst controls of any fully developed game, it's a fact
Sounds very familiar, probably read about it in PSM years ago.
I havent actually played any syberia games yet but i plan to. Played amerzone 20 years ago so dont remember much but i loved it, it was very atmospheric and beautiful. The puzzles were too hard for me but then again i was 6 at the time
Child of Eden.
I think it sold under 100,000 copies.
This was the perfect game to jack off to. No one in passing would suspect anything was up. Man I miss 2004.
The second also has far superior music compared to the first.
Full live orchestra > computer-generated music
Project Nomad. This shit was so ahead of it's time.
>real time combat
>actual in game economy
>space exploration
>cool aliens
Nanosaur
That was one of those N64 titles that needed you to purchase a separate memory card to be able to save your game. So I remember trying to beat it all in one day, over and over and over again and never managing to beat it.
Man I used to go over to my grandma's house just to play this on her computer
Played the Xbox version. Pretty good save for the obnoxious level after Smaug dies, it was too confusing.
That takes me back. Had this in the school computer lab as a wee lad, but we were only allowed to play it once in a blue moon.
Every mac in my school had this installed
Kids would constantly boot this up and see how far they could get while the teacher wasn't looking
Also had a weird cheat where if you got yourself high enough into the air the game would give you 999 of every weapon/ammo
Was this game grossly unfair, or was I just a stupid kid? I remember having a blast with the first few levels, but then you're dropped into a death gauntlet where the enemies respawned multiple times every turn until you were overwhelmed.
Got the PC version as a kid and I liked it back then. Replayed it about 2 years ago and it held up despite the music not looping on Windows 7.
Guarantee you nobody played this mediocre pc game
My brother and I were really big into mech games as kids in the 90s. I remember loving this game, but being unable to beat it. I always figured it was because I was too young to deal with basic shit, was it really so bad?
>was it really so bad?
Not really, it just wasn't very good either. It didn't do anything better than what MW did.
>Magi-Nation and Spider Riders never took off
i am the only one on Yea Forums playing runescape
I actually really enjoyed this game.
I let my membership lapse, I do that every few years. Thankfully I bought a blue halloween mask at 109m before quitting a few years ago, it looks to be a little higher than that now :^)
Is there still an RS3 general on /vg/?
tfw you could only afford a GBA game every couple of months
Looks like a bootleg starfox game
its exactly that
Oh man. As far as technical ability of the gba that game was amazing but the difficulty spike and ear raping ost made it so I never beat it without cheats.
I played the second one until the disc was scratched and couldnt display anything correctly
Speaking of DK
Man I printed out a whole calendar with these dinosaurs back in the day, they also had a cool disk that let you explore dinosaur habitats in 3D.
Oh no you don't. I played this shit too
YOUR TEAM'S A BUNCHA LUMPS
Needs more levels.
And the levels need more room variations.
It'd elevate an alright game to a fantastic one.
That game was fucking everywhere in stores when it released and for months afterward
yes /rsg/ is still the best thread on /vg/
I miss that chat
Nanosaur and Bugdom were my SHIT as a kid.
lmao 2spec
I feel like I owned the only physical copy of this game in Australia. I NEVER saw it again and I went through a year or so phase of trying to buy rare PS2 games from every 2nd hand store I could find.
I never got far it in unfortunately, I'll have to give it another go. I feel like I tried to emulate it somewhat recently but it just wouldn't run well on my PC and my CPU was too slow for software rendering of it (super demanding for some reason)
I'll give it another go now I've got a better PC, but I need to finish SMT 3 first.
I remember spider riders
THIS GAME WAS THE SHIT!
Did you watch any of Bee Train's other shows or was it just because of 4Kids?
mighty beans niggas roll up
One of my favorite multiplayer games on the N64. Unfortunately when I play with with friends now they always get bored after like 15 minutes because I destroy them every race.
Just 4Kids
I remember the spiders looked cool and not much besides that
Speaking of weirdly good lego games
This game is kinda garbage desu
had these on PC
I miss Tactics Arena Online.
I played that. Still have the strategy guide lying around somewhere. Don't know about the game though.
my dad bought this for me on pc. my dad is a big tolkien fan... every december he listens to the whole lord of the rings trilogy on the front porch at night loud as fuck on big speakers and smokes ground tobacco out of a traditional pipe... thank you dad. this game was amazing and I spent hours upon hours in each level exploring every nook and cranny... back when games were magical and I thought anything could happen in them... good times
based investor
heathen
This one
Funny how this game actually followed the story of the original book (and was far better than) the Peter Hackson trilogy.
One of my all time favs right here
I wish this series still existed, the ChoroQ games are dead even in Japan though
Evil Quest
I remember stealing a copy of this from dollar general when I was a teen. Shit was hot garbage
Not the best game I've ever played but was good if you like dungeon crawler/puzzle games
I too still need to finish this. Why didn't any jap copy this Open-World Mech Rpg theme.
Same here, I only ever got to approximately the bow tie glider part and then dicked around. I'm still nostalgic for those times when I was 5 playing n64 games.
I was only able to finally remember what this game was called this year. I played it 10-15 years ago after renting it from hollywood video (thanks to GameCrazy's free rental coupons).
Basically WC3 with better graphics
I have a euro PAL copy fellow ausbro. I've never seen it in the wild. Definitely give it another go. It's one of my favourite games.
this was kind of a hidden gem
Played this after seeing it in a similar thread. Way ahead of its time. Tabletop map control but combat is resolved in arena combat ala powerstone. So many cool ideas and suprisingly deeper than it first appears. The loading time length and frequency is absolutely grueling, however.
I remember this game I used to jack off to it a lot
anime SRPG made by the guy who made X-Com
this game was so fucking shitty, I recall hating pretty much everything about it
I've seen that cover a few times
I only remember Yahtzee's review
Pathfinding is ass at times but this is fun
Kek
I remember this game user, the starting area was so comfy
Great game, loved it
I played the shit out of the demo as a kid. I bought a copy of it off of ebay years ago. it's in my closet somewhere.
Anyone...?
Holy fuck dude, was this the one with the 3D Dinos? The one with the pteranodons on the cliff and the carnivores at the river?
Damn that was it! Thanks user.
A very decent DS rpg
Pic related, shitty game even back then but good soundtrack
I actually wanted to post this. Top creature design as well.
What a bitch
Never met anyone who played this and got stuck on some beach/woods level and forgot about it.
Cool idea tho
Had this for Ps2. I snuck into my mums cupboard before Christmas and found my haul of presents, remember seeing this game without plastic wrapping meaning I lost my shit with excitement because normally there’s no way you’d get to play a video game before the big day itself. Was awesome.
Both 1 and 2 were huge parts of my childhood yet I've never - EVER - seen any discussion of them online.
My fave on the PS1
I rented Vexx from hollywood video
Hey, I played this too.
This one is pretty rare: The I of Dragon
Stopped when I got to the factory with the sentient automaton. Walking was too slow already, and suspected it was about to get 3spooky5me.
This game was the one!
I miss how comfy it made me feel, I never got round to completing it though :(
Inherited it from my pops, no one around me played it.
Amerzone fucking stinks
Sitting on my shelf right now.
Everyone who's a fan of horror games has played it
Game is alright, although I didn't like the final level and """final boss""". I also hated how you could die from fall damage mid air before touching the ground, ruins plenty of doable jumps.
I was disappointed with this game. But then again I expected B&W like bulding sim instead of physic based puzzle game.
There are sequals to it
Fuck I still have my mighty beanz collection and I had no idea they made a game out of them
This is my childhood.
I played it. Just like Oh, no! More Lemmings, Lemmings Revolution and Lemmings 3D.
But coming back to Paintball. Man, one hit kill made the game rough in some levels.
No one ever brings it up
I tried to revisit it, but I had a problem with running it on a modern system.
I mean Ross made a video about this game like 4 years ago.
youtube.com
There’s a YouTube video about every video game ever made bud
>tfw I bought a used (?) copy that didn't work.
>tfw my PS2 doesn't even work now
I will never not be mad.
I always used to just drive about the city rather than do any of the races.
The modding scene for that game was pretty legit vehiclewise.
I like this game a lot, though I'm glad the sequel got scrapped because it looked way too grimdark
how does this pair up with age of empires DS
Most refined and balanced RTS I ever played
I remember it being very hard in late game.
Clash by Longsoft Multimedia
>Autisticly customize your floating island
>Duke it out with other is floating island
>Range or just slap on boosters to ram it with pikes
Shit was fun too bad it went nowhere after 2k.
Why are these threads always so comfy Yea Forums?
I remember that being a load of shit.
Fucking love this game SWITCH PORT PLEASE>!>!>!
Based and funguswaifupilled
People nowadays could say they played it on emulator or whatever. But no one in my place had it and it was hella fun. I then discovered this is actually a expensive game and sold for about $300
An old ps2 game called ”Gift”. I remember being scared to death of the enemies but the music was good, wish I still had a working copy of it.
should be made into a banner on Yea Forums
I loved this unique play style so much.
Pretty scary game while it was peddled to like 6 year olds.
The intro was awesome
What a shite game
>Taiwan
>not China
Don't you have an EGS post to shill there Li?
>Kwomintang > Commies
They made an arcade version of Half Life 2
Not gonna lie it was actually really fun
I had this one too, but I really can't remember much about it.
I remember seeing ads for this one in the gaming mags
One of the first few games that could use hardware acceleration on Mac!
What was the point of this? The DS already had PictoChat.
The worst Bungie game, by far
hell yeah
Genuinely great
Fucking this
>haha looks funny
>mfw it's actually kinda hard and the death scenes are brutal as fuck
Yeah I played it. I rented it once many years ago.
I dreamed I was old.
>
Redneck rampage? That was fun
Acting is pretending to be a person you are not. Pretend to talk to people who are not there, professional pretender.
Did anyone ever play the sequel on the Xbox?
The OST had a lot of soul
youtube.com
No, I played that. On PC though.
I got this as a Christmas present from my sister who knew nothing about videogames. it's still in the plastic wrapping.
I jerked off to the hippie lady who was topless with the hair covering her nipples.
The first one is great, mystical and comfy.
Second one isn't as good, the story goes a bit too far fetched in some places
Yeah it is, I think it's on GOG now.
I played it on a schoolfriend's Xbox in like 2005.
At least it's better than other Terminator 3 games.
My cousin had this hidden gem!
I laughed so hard back then.
I beat this game with my girlfriend once on Christmas just for fun.
Fun fact: you can skip the end cutscene of the game and the final boss takes about 30 seconds
Make's me think of big mutha truckers. It is the n°2 ? Never played it but the first one was the tits.
>mfw playing as earl
>empty food wraps everywhere irl and in game for that immersion
Yeah, it's the sequel.
How was it compared to the first one ? Looks like they added some funny shit.
I haven't played the first one but the sequel was fun from what I remember.
>Fatboy Slim soundtrack
Sign me the fuck up!
Unirally
probably the most underrated game of the ps1
they actually tired with this one
>that one puzzle where you had to get a coin/key that's stuck in a block of ice
>my dumb ass just kept on smacking the ice to break it
>it actually works (even if I get a low rank)
It was actually pretty fun, I bought it years later after its release. Just a worse rogue squadron with dragons. The invasion level in snowy mountains was like the best experience ever.
Would love another game like it with todays tech.
The stealth sections sucked.
Wanted: Weapons of Fate, one of the better movie games out there.
But you didn't only play that. I played that. Was like a bargain bin version of LoZ.
I still have disc and it's one of these games I should replay some day, but my backlog is massive.
I think I liked wolf clan the most, but it has been so much time that I can't remember anything about the factions beside their overall artstyle.
Joke's on you OP, I'm doing a playthrough of that game right now because I was reminded how it never ran on my PC back in the day.
My friend had this and we played it. I never saw any combat in it tho so I still don't know if it actually had any. I remember playing a part where you had to go through sleeping ogres or whatever and if you stepped on leaves they woke up and you had to try again
oh shit my man
wasn't it pal and japan only? would explain it, don't think i've seen muricans mention playing it
How was that game?
Better than Gex
Americans cant into art I swear
I loved that game
It's one of those action adventures, so there's a lot of combat besides jumping, puzzles, sneak passages and whatnot
Man, the hit-scan enemies with random one hit kill crit were bullshit.
I played this and it was fucking LIT
I fucking love the second level with the whirlpool and sneaking past the trolls
>MFW I'm having a genuinely much better time playing that this game than Astral Chain.
fuck off, i love this game to death and i'm still mad the kickstarter for a sequel failed and they came up with some cardgame bullshit instead.
>Basically WC3 with better graphics
And cheating AI.
Game breaking bugs, think I literally threw it in the trash.
I played a lot of this game and even had a good chunk of the cards. I never beat it though, I remember this weird difficulty spike that seemed to encourage me farming for the Hyren monsters.
I remember it being also weirdly dark.
Eragon on GBA
The crappiest and also greatest rpg kid me ever played
Based, I liked that game a lot
Played up to the desert level recently
>despite the music not looping on Windows 7
Couldn't remember that that didn't used to happen back when, too bad
Cool cover
I still have this. And I don't even have a disk drive to play it lol
>tfw just cheesed the fuck out of this game
If you kept sinking the terrain around the enemies, they would eventually hit water and instantly die. So rather than solid strategy, I just kept sinking my enemies.
Kotomi a best
Imagine my surprise when ‘Fable’ gets announced for the Xbox a few years later
I played that game and I remembered how the realistic hearts scared me and fighting that fatass also scared me. Looking back that game was trying to be like mario 64 but with a 90s edgyness to it.
THE BIGGEST DUB EVER
I remembered like playing it as a kid but I could never get past a certain point in the game it was balls hard.
i remember this from my childhood, playing it on my Pentium II. can you give me a name?
holy fuck I remember this. couldnt get past the prologue
one of the best instruction manuals ever
Lotus Clan metal as fug
Issyl a huge faget
No way I did completely, but here in this moment, maybe a 1% chance I might be alone.
God damn seeing this brings me back. I remember watching my dad play this game all the time, it was some kind of wierd board game looking shit but when you met your opponent it turned into a mini battle arena and there was a bunch of characters you could choose from. My dad used a guy who would throw homing discs around. Thanks for the nostalgia user
This game was great, played it with my buddy over LAN a lot
Although it is mentioned quite frequently on Yea Forums, not complaining though
youtube.com
this and the sequel
Yeah i played it too, good times.
Played it at a friends house regularly. Don't remember much other then getting eaten by chests and running around in underpants.
Don't forget that footcheese(which would get shitposted about if we had actual Maximo threads)
I remember playing this with my brother
Shame that it's not more popular, the sequel drops in a couple weeks. I was caught off by how good it was. A good story contained within a 15 to 20 hour time frame, just enough to not get dry. Not to mention how damn good the DLC was. I honestly wish they just put out expansions of the protag solving cases with his new friends, because the environment, puzzle solving, and character interactions really hit their stride in the final case.
>censored trash
>42 shekels
Can you sell me on it? Detective game sounds interesting, but what is the gameplay like?
And is it the good kind or the bad kind of anime, if you know what I mean?
>literally one scene
Nigga they kept a scene of a 16 year old in her underwear hanging from the ceiling. The only thing that was removed was another 16 year old being forced to ingest a spider. Even then all you see is her face with a device in place to hold her mouth open. Hell, if you buy the switch verison, the DLC is comes with it and it isn't censored unless you download the free update.
The game is composed of solving paranormal cases in order to save yourself and others from a curse. Each case is divided in two parts, searching and gathering clues and items, and then fighting the paranormal entities. There are two ways you can kill the spirit, brute force or exorcising it. Exorcising them all gives you the best ending.
By bad anime do you mean fanservice? Yeah, there's some of it, but it's not distractingly there the entire time or do you mean does it have weeby cliche anime tropes? If so there's none of that shit. I personally enjoyed it because the music, overall feel, spirits, and story are all at a good level to provide you a solid experience. Especially the DLC, the dlc is where the game hits it's stride in all those categories. Plus if you like it, you can slide right into the sequel when it comes out next month.
Aussie educational games were something else
Thank you and god bless
I will try to check it out some time
Rally enjoyed the assymetrical balance in this game
Dad brought me it in badly printed paper cd case
It was one of the best third person actions i played to this day
Wait, I can't tell if I'm being tricked or not, here. I remember Nintendo Power running articles on this game, but later they said the thing was cancelled. Did it end up un-cancelled and came out after all?
NUCLEAR TRANSFORM
shit forgot pic
I found this at a pawn shop recently and ended up really enjoying the game. I wanna find the 2nd one now.
Sorta like a weird hybrid of Sim City and Animal Crossing.
Amazing games bro, still remember those underwear with hearts when you only have a hit left. The shield throw, the monster chests, the princesses you had to save. So gooood
You can go download the ROM right this second if you're so inclined
I also remember the articles, but it's a legit game - came out March 15, 2001.
World was pretty empty but open and big for a PS2 game. Flying around on a dragon when you liked was also neat. Probably a fave when I was young.
My friend had this on PS2
seemed pretty based I remember the necromancer dungeon, some big red dudes in a mine and fish people of sorts
I replay this every few years
It's the only anime themed FPS that I know of and it wasn't even developed by Japanese
I played the demo when I got my PS3
Rented from blockbuster
loved this game
