Purchasing a game to run the data files in another program seems very legitimate to me, especially if you have an OS that isn't windows. why would this be considered bad or unethical? Purchasing it sounds like the most ethical thing you can do, a lot of people wouldnt even do that.
Why does Steam have such a problem with this?
it's not considered bad or unethical, it just means they won't offer you support in case you can't make it work, since it's not the intended way to play the game
Doesn't sound like they have a problem with it, they just don't offer support. If you buy Quake on Steam and play it on Quakespasm, then run into an issue, do you expect Steam support to be able to help you with your Quakespasm problem? They can't offer support for things outside their platform that they have no connection to. Nobody is saying it's wrong or unethical, just that you're on your own if you can't make it work.
well on some OSs you literally cant even download the files at all
Are you ESL/retarded? It says support won't help you with problems caused by emulating, it doesn't say a single fucking thing about it being bad or unethical.
if you buy a cucumber, and use it as a dildo, and hurt yourself, the store is not legally responsible, considering you did not use it for its intended purposes.
they're just covering theirs asses. haha.
food ANALogy.
Don’t worry Chang, just try another thread.
That's kind of shitty, but I understand why they'd do that. It doesn't make sense for their store to let you download a program that cannot work. Normalfags would be way too confused about why they can "install" something but can't run it.
>it just means they won't offer you support in case you can't make it work
But they don't do that anyway. Valve's support is so lacking they've even been taken to court multiple times because it fails to meet the minimum standards set by the law.
because steam doesn't troubleshoot fucking emulators for you, jackass
>ESL
Worse, EGS
What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
They don't have to legally offer you any support what so ever. They could sell it to you "as is" and be done with it.
what
then why the fuck dont they even let you install?
They don't "let" you install emulators. They have nothing to do with it. That's something you do on your own, you illiterate fuck.
>They don't have to legally offer you any support what so ever.
Uh, no. That's why they were taken to court. The courts wouldn't care if the law wasn't being broken.
>That's why they were taken to court
What?
Are you really not aware that Valve has been dragged into court multiple times for violating consumer laws? And they lost every single time. In particular one case was about failing to follow after sale support regulations.
Sweeney's Sweeties are still dumb illiterate fuckheads I see.
probably just because Steam support doesn't want to get into a three-hour call with some neckbeard who's pissed off because he can't run a hentai dating sim on his busted-ass custom Linux distro
