Why do so many people struggle with the unofficial tutorial of Underrail
Why do so many people struggle with the unofficial tutorial of Underrail
Underrail is that with Sans
No one struggles with it, just the retards at Reddit. Such as yourself, please either stop using Reddit or go away and dont come back.
>can't read the filename
>doesn't realize this is just a cap I stole from someone else in another thread
ye sure I'm the redditor
nah it's got the dude though
what stats effect grenade throws? why do I keep throwing flashbangs at my feet like a retard
the one called throwing, it's pretty hard to miss
How viable is a super-pistol man build? I'm talking crafting and using at least every type of chem or energy pistol for maximum variability, plus maybe a few regular pistols for raw damage. Grenades, of course, will be in my arsenal too.
So what would the best feats be? Should I max DEX for a ton of pistol attacks per turn?
the throwing stat effects your accuracy of thrown objects and grenades
Dexterity and throwing
>Finally get a grasp of the game
>Decide to reroll on hard with the same build, but more steamlined
>Hard, but making progress
>Reach Depot A
>"Oh well, this will be slightly harder, but I can do this"
>Get absolutely anally devastated for an hour before even leaving the underground bunker
Should have made an energy shield after all.
That uh.. would make sense
APEX HARDCORE
-damage increases 50% as quickly with item quality/psi skills
-items sold are worth 10% their regular price, quest rewards 25% of normal
-carrying capacity reduced by 50%
-can't drop items from your inventory for free (can still drop equipped weapons for free)
-grenade cooldowns +1 turn
-w2c does 90% damage
-high efficiency energy converters nerfed to regenerating x% of energy lost to damage, at y% per round
-toxic gas simply deals bio damage each round/if moved through; no damage multiplication
-using psi abilities from 1 school will increase the action point cost of psi abilities from other schools
-many psi abilities must hit vs evasion now (or reduced by it), use psi skill at 70% for THC
-forcefield functions as an energy shield against ranged attacks, has a certain amount of hp against melee attacks before failing (dependent on skill)
-all npc's have 30% greater detection & trap detection (bosses have 50% greater)
-bear traps dont function if they deal no damage, stronger enemies have shorter durations, and spotted traps use your traps skill vs their dodge
-some enemies will have black dragon throwing knives/crossbow bolts, and such traps can also be found
-randomized traps/locations
-randomized enemy placement
-npc's that spot traps or corpses will turn orange, holler, and search the map (and pull alarms, if any)
-if spotted, all hostile npc's on that map will never turn back to green; yellow minimum
-npc's will not enter dangerous terrain (such as gas, fire, or traps) unless they have a clear path to you
-most hostile npc's, if they can't attack you on their current turn, will instead head for cover or distance
-if you are seen entering stealth in a controlled or partially controlled map, npc's will turn hostile
-gladiators past master exploder have improved builds with more feats, especially carnifex
>Yea Forums: if you can make it through Depot A, you can beat the game
>just full cleared Depot A with ease
you said this game was hard
>-toxic gas simply deals bio damage each round/if moved through; no damage multiplication
still a shitty idea
How this build look? More than anything I am worried if there is any "bad" feat in this game
Depot A is the final part of the tutorial
Of course it wasn't that hard.
no its not
Toxic gas grenades are cheesy. You can trivialize otherwise hard battles with them. Damage per round is fine; especially when combined with cave ear caltrops.
Dex is pointless on anything that isn't a ballistic pistol build. maybe get it up to 7 and dump the rest on INT and PER.
Feats for a pistol build are self explanatory, mind that Gun Nut, Gunslinger, Rapid Shots and anything that isn't explicitly marked as a chem/energy pistol feat will only work on ballistic pistols.
play it and find out bruh
I wish Pickpocketing could be used to plant explosives and active grenades in enemies like in most Fallouts. It would make the Ninja Looter feat much more appealing and even combat-viable for a stealthy character.
Who was that guy who said dodge and evasion weren't viable early game?
I want him to see this so I can laugh at him.
>no its not
yes it is
>Damage per round is fine; especially when combined with cave ear caltrops.
not really, the damage per round would be so fucking terrible without the damage multiplication, even will the bio damage increase from cave ear poison.
gas grenades can trivialize a lot of fights, but without them builds with little armor piercing capabilities would be shit out of luck, if you want to make the idea half decent, at least change it to
-toxic gas damage stacks limited to 10, down from 20 before posting this shit next thread.
>Who was that guy who said dodge and evasion weren't viable early game?
that faggot that claims the skill system has problems but also claims he has spent the last week reading up on the game rather than playing it for himself?
Play as a hammer wizard
ye him
the only fight where its even "necessary" is the beast fight
and every build has armor piercing options
>anything that isn't explicitly marked as a chem/energy pistol feat will only work on ballistic pistols
This is VERY useful to know beforehand. Kind of leaves me wondering if there's a list of all feats that affect chem/energy pistols.
chem and energy are great firearms kinda weak but still useful for the init bonus
14 dex is really strong on energy pistols
whats your next character going to be?
that guy has never even played the game. its just some weirdo who spiraled down a rabbit hole of autism on the wiki.
Execute/Aimed/Kneecap shot are universal, Rapid Fire only works with ballistic, don't know about Point Shot since it's kind of a shitty feat and I never bothered with it on a Chem/Energy gun build
thought control knife ninja
>chase Fallout 1 & 2's legacy
>put build checks in your game where if you didn't build your character the way the devs said to you cannot progress any further until you undo your choice or restart
>and every build has armor piercing options
they vary from build to build in terms of usefulness.
but I agree that the only place it is really necessary is the beast fight, but with that in place, builds that couldn't dispatch the bladelings efficiently enough would be barred from super steel, at least in the mid-game, when it is intended for the player to do the quest.
Can you provide a single example to back this claim up?
>>put build checks in your game where if you didn't build your character the way the devs said to you cannot progress any further until you undo your choice or restart
What?
Give me an example
you dont need multiplication gas to beat it though
you can caltrop/gas/bear trap it to hell and be shooting or throwing grenades the whole time
My best guess is stealth sections, and even then most stealth sections can be done with negative stealth
I've done most of the harder ones as a tincan with boots that give me almost -40 stealth
>instant kill combo against builds that aren't correct
this is literally my current status
Stealth is entirely optional though, I can't think of any main questline areas where you can't beat it without stealth.
Ah, so you're just a shitter. What build did you "have to restart" to beat one of the simplest tutorial encounters in the game?
What's a good level of throw if I just want to throw an occasional grenade and not hurt myself in the process?
Probably like 50 effective. Keep in mind grenades can only land up to 3 tiles away from the target, even with the lowest precision.
I have never seen Eddy & the Scrappers defeat the Protecterate until this playthrough. All this shit to scavenge through, hope one of em had a shield.
Thanks.
>you dont need multiplication gas to beat it though
with some builds you could ignore it, others it is essential. have you played a run on hard/DOMINATING using a build with generally low armor penetration?
>it's a simple tutorial when you follow a guide on how to play
Your game is shit
the gms compound isnt even hard you retard
Well?
How did you get them to fight eachother?
Answer the question, scrub
>IT'S NOT HARD IT'S NOT!!!!!!! FOLLOW THE GUIDE AND IT'S EASY!!!!!
which one Yea Forums?
>Lob a MKII grenade with 0 throwing
>Win fight
Wooooooooooooow, how would I know?
But seriously though, what do you gain from shitposting like this? Are you here to gain material for your fellow discordtrannies or something?
See You forgot Pick Pocketing tho
You're actually telling me you got walled by an encounter with THREE enemies? Maybe reroll your IRL build to one with more than 3 INT.
Got tired of Briggs choking me and killed him. Have I ended the DLC already?
black eel questline gives you the option of recruiting the protectorate or even SGS
crossbow once, but I had the gas
even a fist build could handle it
they have bear traps + opportunist + heavy punch + combo + pneumatic hammer/electroshock + reinforced gloves, and other stuff besides like bleed/taste for blood
I had a harder time finding the GMS compound than I did beating it.
What kind of build do you have that can actually lose there
You don't need to follow a guide. You just specialize and read what feats do, which skills each stat boosts, simply not being a fucking retard helps
pickpocket is a ninja thing
He probably didn't clean the other mobs patrolling and got fucked
I see, i went with Eddy and he stopped giving me quests once i told him about the secret entrance the eels were using, i was really hoping for an all out war between the gangs or something.
yeah, black eels do that but scrappers just avoid it
I know, I'm doing this in contrast with my hammer wizard
So far I'm having a blast, dominating never ceases being to be a challenge
I have never followed a guide for this game, and I have been through that encounter 4 different times. it's piss easy on normal, and it's piss easy on DOMINATING. it helps if you are not braindead from huffing gas
>LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LA LA LA
>follow a guide to find the specific item you need to play this RPG the correct way!
Fuck off
>YOU'RE STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!! IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY IT IS I SWEAR!!!!!
I did, it doesn't help when there are checks for whether or not your build is what the game wants.
You have to be legitimately mentally deficient if you think that encounter is hard.
Even then there is only one patrolling guy he could have missed the other two are right outside the door.
>LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LA LA LA
ironic
>sseth said to follow a build guide but I said so, I'll just be doing whatever the fuck I want
>found out too late what armor penalty is and have too much dodge to abandon it now
>get my ass raped several times over
>kill the boss through dumb luck
Maybe user is just retarded
That's enough, user.
Goddamn.
>crossbow once, but I had the gas
what about the lone bladelings in the caves without setup?
acid bolts are shit no matter what stage of the game you're in, and shock 2 bolts do so little damage to bladelings, I was blowing through at least 10 per enemy on that run.
>generic grenade type needs a guide
have you considered playing on easy?
Really, why are you desperately trying to get replies in threads like these?
Do you really think people can't see how desperate you are?
I really hope for you there's some discord channel you go back to and show le ebin trole on 4chinz to your "friends" because boy, acting retarded for the sake of attention is either that or serious mental illness.
>Make a build that works
>After depot A decide to use the same build on hard
>Get raped beyond recognition in the depot
Should I just play on normal again? How do I even git gud besides theorycrafting builds?
>the drones pile up to defend the game they backed with their life savings
Cry some more.
Use bear traps and caltrops if you've been ignoring them, they work on any build. Grenades are useful even without any points in throwing, especially molotovs to distract some enemies for 2 turns.
>>Make a build that works
>>Get raped
Either you're missing something in the fundamentals or your build actually doesn't work.
bear traps + deadly snares, mainly
elemental bolts + shock bolts + critical power
QT if necessary
fuck these fucking island people
Packed mines are going to trigger each other
Need more caltrops
How long has humanity been living underground and what happened to the surface?
you need to learn better trap tactics son
No idea and no idea
Probably nukes tho, given one of the selling points for tchort is radiation resistance
few hundred years and we dont know for sure
>No caltrops
>Mines packed close together
A few centuries more or less.
>what happened to the surface?
Nobody knows, ask Ezra or Dude.
Man, I'm not even done with the Expedition and I'm sitting at 72/30 oddity exp at level 22. The last time I played this I finished the deep caverns at level 23.
Fuck sea wyrms though.
I like to think of it as the far future, when the surface has been left uninhabitable as the Sun itself has almost died out.
Where does one find all the components to make a tactical vest. I could find the vest but never the panel, plate, and fabric. Can they be bought?
>Can they be bought?
Yes
Yeah, plenty of vendors sell plates, panels, and fabrics
What's the difference between different gun frames?
ah, I see.
it might be possible to do the main fight like that, but it would be such a slog to prep for it. especially with the 50% reduction to carry weight you'd have as well, you'd have to take many trips lugging traps through the 6 or so loading screens from the station platform to the furnace in the pack.
I'd play apex hardcore if it was in the game, I like about half of the changes you have in your list, but fuck if it wouldn't be a nightmare with the 10% of what items are worth.
Wouldnt humanity have evolved too much by that point from living underground. I doubt they would look like norman humans(mostly).
Maybe that's what the Godmen are.
Anyone have a Legionary build link? I've been doing a Hoplite build, and it's pretty cool, just wondering how a sword+board build would feel.
Can i level stats past 10?
yeah
Yes, but not at character creation.
Different types of ammunition, different ways of handling and dealing damage
Anyone? Not sure where to go at this point. Grabbed a jet ski and now I'm cruising around.
Depends on what weapon class. For sniper rifles one has a wider damage range and overall higher average damage, one has higher crit chance, one has higher crit damage, and one has lower damage but less AP cost to shoot. Other weapon classes have their own different types with their own advantages/disadvantages.
I haven't gotten that far into the story, sorry but i don't know what the fuck that is
Technically the expedition ends when you kill it, so technically yes, but for Aegis only, you can still dick around
The REAL expedition ending is Finding the Acorn and destroying the Shadowlight
even on dominating I get so rich so soon that I hardly loot the last 75% of the game
and the carry weight might suck in that one instance, but I mean, so what?
No, the real expedition is the friends you made along the way.
Whats the best rifle type for damage? Also do they have different precision?
How's my build?
>tfw that's actually truth
A real Banga right here.
So I should reload and not kill him for being a paranoid cunt?
I bailed Hugo out yesterday and forgot where the fuck the Faceless object is, and he is not at his house, where the fuck is it
Depends on what are you using?
I assume you're doing melee weapons?
Not -really-, you just made it harder on yourself but you can still roll with it
DOMINATING Carnifex
Pure PSI build
Wish me luck
>mfw using YELL
youtube.com
Oh I just don't know where to go at this point. I assume if I wander enough I'll find those pirates that kidnapped that guy.
Melee, yes.
Mechanics and Biology are weird crafting skills to spec into
And evasion is arguably better of the two speed based defenses, as it gives a flat reduction to AoE damage
Otherwise only downside I see is that you don't really have anyway of dealing with ranged or large groups of enemies.
Would suggest putting atleast 30 points into throwing so you can get grenadier and use nades, but you're already spread across 9 skills as it is.
It all boils down if you get first initiative or not
If you mean sniper rifles then 12.7mm corsair does the best damage. But 8.6mm reaper has more critical damage so it can do the same damage for less AP as long as you can get critical hits. And 7.62mm spearhead is weaker but if you use the fast reload upgrade it can shoot twice per round so it makes up for it. So really it depends.
Accuracy is the same for all of them so you don't need to worry about that at least.
Welp, at least Survival Instincts is active now. Let's see what we can do.
What melee weapon?
I specialize in hammers, if that helps.
Dont let him act, stun him, Mental break down
Round 1 was a failure.
>everything on fire
>no one to be seen
what the fuck even happened
I was asking about the assault rifles but thanks anyway user.
I used Exothermic Aura to try to keep him away, then tried to use Frighten but it failed.
Rounds 2 and 3 ended with a single hit from his Crippling Strike.
You will get him next time
When I got more than 60 DT on my hammer wizard, the fight became trivial
Getting there...
Hypothermia kinda also trvializes his fight, but giving you're using fire it's not really useful
Am I doomed if I started my first play through as a retarded melee man?
For assault rifles huszar does the best damage, but it has a penalty to burst accuracy so that sucks. Marauder does good damage with no penalties so it's okay. Chimera does slightly less damage but has better critical hits. Hornet is the weakest but it has a bonus to burst accuracy and takes less AP to fire.
I usually go hornet or chimera. They're the nice ARs.
I'd recommend getting yourself the grenadier feat atleast, or some psi
Otherwise large groups of enemies or ranged speedy ones could be a pain
post build and probably not.
my first run playthrough on hard was a max strength hammer idiot with no psi
The fool popped Morphine. GG boys.
Become an ironcladed hammerer
>the carry weight might suck in that one instance, but I mean, so what?
it'd suck in several. I already carry around 160 pounds of gear on me at all times, and I guarantee others could say something similar, unless they're pure psi or something and have little need for ammo/combat utilities. it would make pack rathound borderline essential for nearly any build, but in all likelihood that would only be a 25 extra pounds, and the lifting belt 15.
looting would be a hassle but at the same time a necessity to have some form of income, due to quest rewards being at 25%. that isn't enough to rely on due to how much shit you'd go through for a single instance of combat, with no room to loot anything to make back what you expended.
plus all the back and forths you'd have to make to resupply due to the nature of already carrying half of what you'd regularly have
>I already carry around 160 pounds of gear on me at all times
That seems kinda excessive.
you'll have to learn to optimize your inventory
a lot of people carry around alternate gear, lots of medicines/grenades/traps/ammo (more than they need), jackhammer/tnt
There's str boosting stuff, str/carry weight food, infused pig boots, lifting belt, pack rathound if necessary
Also, you can get heavily encumbered at home with gear, walk to the outside of the dungeon/exit the train that you just took and dump stuff, coming back to that pile if necessary, or make a hub somewhere
When I suit up for a combat heavy quest I have about 120 lbs of gear, mostly mines and nades. I have a lifting belt I carry for hauling out loot, and there's food that increases carry capacity.
When do I start finding rapid reloaders at shops?
after depot A
Isn't it just the use of the term 'firearm' that excludes energy and chem pistols? I can't think of any exceptions that aren't already obvious with their wording.
>you'll have to learn to optimize your inventory
sucks being a hoarder I guess, I've tried to cut back and optimize it but can't bring myself to drop any of this shit besides the components.
address anything other than the sniper rifle and crossbow, I realize how redundant it is, this is my DOMINATING fuck around run.
When you make a new character that doesn't want them. You do that and they'll be fucking everywhere.
But really, they should be available as soon as you find the drill parts. SGS will start stocking them then, and they show up in the gun shops in Foundry/Core City. If you get lucky Blaine might sell them from the very beginning of the game though. Just get lucky.
i love how your idea of optimizing involves dragging around a horde of brains.
Oh good, I just cleared depot A. Getting ready to craft a new AR soon.
Post the slightly updated version, now including retards from Yea Forums who belong on reddit
There should really be a way to sort inventory items by weight and value.
Styg doesn't let me have companions so I take what I can get. I'm still trying to find more of them, I know you can buy one off Al Fabet, find 1 in a footlocker near the guy with the kukri, and find 3 more in the lair of the guy from the first coretech quest, then a psi-beetle brain off a guy from a random event I haven't seen this playthrough yet.
WAY too much ammo for a sniper, hell I only see one rifle but two calibers of bullets
way too many special bolts; prep for what you'll think you'll face (maybe 20-30 of each if you expect heavy use) and only bring others just in case
id drop half those fire nades
>brains in jars
wat
you dont need the dog crate
drop half those repair kits at least
bring about a third of each type of medicine
up to 20 ampules/dishes
leave the fishing rod in your jetski unless you're going to fish right now
half of those flares
1-2 of each food (why the brew?)
>Mow downs a giant beetle
>Runs out of bullets
>Drops his rifle and critical punches rathounds
I'm ovulating really hard here
>beaten the game like 5 times
>still sometimes jump when a Siphoner pops out of the water
Am I doing this right? Everyone in game and out of game is like "don't fight the faceless," and I'm trying to find the stupid macguffin to disable the plasma walkers, but I've had to fight like 5 or 6 faceless/walkers just to get to the path I think I'm supposed to take.
You don't need to get the EMP to get in there peacefully, the Faceless don't care if you wreck their robots.
Please tell me you found the abandoned bunker, past the Ironhead camp.
Please.
I didn't go through the ironhead, I couldn't find my way there on foot, so I took the train.
I killed 2 non-robot faceless. Also I have 0 social skills except mercantile.
>I didn't go through the ironhead, I couldn't find my way there on foot, so I took the train.
You're going the wrong way
You're so fucking lost.
Stop.
If you already killed 2 Faceless it's too late for peace with them.
He killed plasma walkers, not Faceless, I'm not sure if that counts towards the faceless score
>I killed 2 non-robot faceless
Oh
Welp
look the guy said "go to railroad crossing" so I did, and then in RC the guy there said "go south and turn west into a fenced area" to find a macguffin and I can't find any fenced area that leads to an abandoned warehouse, and now I'm murdering cyborgs because they're leaving me no other option and I can't navigate a post apocalyptic train tunnel cave system properly
I don't particularly care about being peaceful with the faceless since I have 0 persuasion and 0 intimidate, I assumed it wasn't an option from the start
BRODERICK!
HONEY, DONT DO IT!
Wait, it matters what you do in that quest? I turned on the turrets and saved the guy, is my run fucked later?
>Thermodynamic Destabilization
>Telekinetic Proxy
>Premeditation
>Telekinetic Punch
Bladelings sound like they say yeet
He can afford to kill a few. They won't like it, but if he does the other interactions with them right then they'll put up with it. As long as he doesn't kill any more, at least.
>WAY too much ammo for a sniper, hell I only see one rifle but two calibers of bullets
>way too many special bolts; prep for what you'll think you'll face (maybe 20-30 of
each if you expect heavy use) and only bring others just in case
20-30 is not nearly enough for heavy use for me, I really blast through the shock 2s, though I could benefit from putting about half of the 8.6 away.
>id drop half those fire nades
maybe half of the regular gasoline molotovs.
>>brains in jars
>wat
like I said man, fuck around run. I used to only carry the one from Al on me until the end of the game, but I decided to try and collect every brain
>you dont need the dog crate
overcharged cat from dude's cave, it's just 4 pounds, man
>drop half those repair kits at least
I usually blast through a lot of them repairing the better gun drops from enemies. I could stand to drop 6 tailoring kits though
>bring about a third of each type of medicine
>up to 20 ampules/dishes
>leave the fishing rod in your jetski unless you're going to fish right now
>half of those flares
>1-2 of each food (why the brew?)
I agree with all of these, and adhere to them most of the time. this was just my latest save from weeks ago, so I don't really remember what I was doing back before I stopped playing.
>because they're leaving me no other option
You have the option, you just dont read properly.
Where you need to go is, and pay close attention:
From the train that stops in Rail crossing:
Go South
Go South again
You will find an ironhead encamptment, kill them all
Inside the ironhead encamptment, at the southwest side there will be an entrace
Go there, boom, you're in the abandoned facility to search the macguffin
> I assumed it wasn't an option from the start
It was, but congratulations, now you fucked yourself in the late game
Hell yeah user you tell that other user, how fucking dare he play games the wrong way.
f9 to pay your respects
>You have the option, you just dont read properly.
I did read it properly. The guy and the quest text specifically says "following the eastern platform south and then turning west into the first fenced area," and going south along the east side brings me into direct contact with faceless dudes and faceless walkers, then a dead end. The only fenced areas when going south are one along the east side and another that lets you go around a walker. Going west from either of those points just brings me to more faceless that shoot on sight.
>mfw trying to get into the nexus of technology with lmao 3 agi
I deal with frickin crabs enough day to day, I don't need this garbage
You need to from the train, south ON THE PLATAFORM
Follow the rails south, but on the plataform you spawn on, never step off from it, keep going south until you find an ironhead encampent, you cannot miss it
Oh fuck I think recognize this area from screenshots posted here, is this what I think it is?
Yep
Better start bringing caltrops, bear traps, and prepare the brap nades, you will need them soon
OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOBODY SAID "FROM THE TRAIN" THEY JUST SAID "EASTERN PLATFORM" SO I FOLLOWED THE RIGHT SIDE PLATFORM FROM THE TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot my brap nades at home
Kill the beast happens only one time during a lifetime, bring your gas grenades, not only will completely trivialize the fight, but also make it hillarious
Take screenshots
>music cypher puzzle
i'm too tired for this shit
How do you save him without killing any faceless?
user
YOU'RE A FOOL
LEARN TO READ
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
But seriously, you will need to do this, bring plenty of EMP nades and HE nades, but since you have 0 persuation, I'm afraid you will either lose a nice trader or hurt your Faceless relationship a little, which will hugely affect your late game. However, assuming you're playing in normal difficulty, that should be fine
Oh shit
Yeah
Dont go there
Only pains awaits, and it's not even where you're supposed to go
Why is a scoped assault rifle less accurate than a pistol?
Brody is a godman
I didn't bring any TNT or a Jackhammer with me, I forgot you needed to clear some rocks.
10 INT psionic Godhood, everyone
fuck this game these rathounds are literally impossible they just swarm you and you die thank fuck for steam refunds
I pray this works.
>I didn't bring any TNT or a Jackhammer with me, I forgot you needed to clear some rocks.
lol

When you pickpocket a vendor can you look at their entire store inventory or most of it? Or is it some other inventory?
I haven't seen anyone filtered this fast since that one guy couldn't get out of his bedroom after not checking his desk

>filtered by rathounds
>Getting filtered by rathounds
How do you even function in real life?
Fucking MEME SCORPIONS can suck my nuts. They're not even hard, they're just a giant resource sink.
Nope just what he's carrying around in his pockets
Well this should do just fine.
No Dan nor Saban tho?
what's funny is i'd never make this mistake but for some reason i did on
pfftaahhahahahah good luck, you're going to need it if that isn't normal
Its his first playthrough, it's almost certainly normal.
Should I just play on easy just so I can play the game, or am I retarded and should kill myself for considering it?
That was lame, I should have left the brap nades at home. They really didn't understand how to path around those beartraps.
Yeah.
Im sure he's a first timer, normal is a given, however war crimes will carry him just fine, if he has a good preparation
If you enjoy the game on Easy I don't see a problem with it. But if it's too easy you might get bored, which is why most people here play on at least Normal to keep the gameplay loop interesting.
Play on Normal
if you cannot play the game on normal then i'm fraid Underrail is not a game for you
What's a decent time to tackle the grey army base? I did it once at around 9 or 10 and got my shit pushed in pretty hard.
asking people is honestly kind of pathetic
How the fuck do I get out of the Institute of Tchort? These stupid genetiniggers didn't like my answers to their dumb scientology survey and now I've killed like 100 of them but there's no exit.
Well I'm a pathetic person user, why do you think I browse Yea Forums?
groovy
Dont be a cunt
So how long does it take for enemy placement on a screen to reset? they are all waiting at the door for me, forever, and will kill me on the first turn. it is the only way onto the screen.
do I just have to start over?
it doesn't reset
it's like that so you don't cheese it
I'm fairly sure it resets at the same time vendors do, which is...lke 90 minutes outside of the zone?
>Watch Sseth's video
>Spoils the murder investigation, the rathound king, and Dude's quest
But why? Half the fun of Dude is finding out that he's actually right about everything.
How shitty did the threads become after he posted it?
I only watched his video to see if there was anything I could relate to since I was already like a dozen hours into the game and I immediately recognized the murderer when I met her because of that faggot.
i dont even follow him and i got spoiled :(
the threads were getting spammed non stop with the most basic and annoying questions but its starting to calm down a lot
Best thing about 10+ DEX builds is you don't have to put points into lockpick/traps/throwing anymore after 50.
if it's any consolation, my first playthrough I went into the bunker through the backdoor and just finished the quest without having recognized the murderer.
>throw molotov at scrappers
>it burns them good
>they all die
>waiting for molotov to burn out
>black eel runs across the molotov
>takes damage
>all black eels instantly turn hostile
what the fuck
I can nearly guarantee this has happened to every person using molotovs by that point in the game and that it was the first and last time they realized molotovs with allies around was a bad idea.
Enemies never usually walked onto molotovs, so I assumed it would be fine
Well user I'm happy to inform you that enemies will walk into fire if they're motivated enough.
>why yes i do play oddity *sips* *shits in diaper*
Should I do the DLC at level 18? I don't want to start it until I can actually sink serious time into it and that's not gonna happen if I get my shit kicked in at the first fight.
>people with points in stealth actually fight things
There is nothing more brainlet than this. Only excuse is Classic EXP mode.
I've heard 15 said as the entry point so 18s probably more than fine
How do I make a decent build without going extreme? I know the typical "optimized" build goes 10/10/8 in your desired stats, which two of which are usually CON and INT.
This is a problem, because not all builds can utilize both of these well. For example, a 10 CON/10 WIL/8 INT build does well, and so does a 10 CON/10 STR/8 INT, since their primary way of damaging enemies relies on one stat.
However, for example, if you want to use guns, you would want 10 PER... and depending on what type of gun you want to use, you'll need higher strength (for shotguns and what not) or higher dexterity (for pistols and smgs).
This leaves you with a choice. If you pick the pistol/smg route, you would probably go 10 PER/10 DEX. However, this forces you to choose in between INT or CON. You can either be super squishy, or give up crafting for the rest of the game.
See what I mean?
I want to make a good build (for normal)(also I realize builds don't need to be optimized on normal but still) that utilizes SMGs and crafting. I know that must SMG builds make use of high AGI in order to attack multiple times per turn.
What do I do lads?
>remember that guy who got filtered by rathounds
Miranda is cute, CUTE
there is literally no reason to push past INT 7, that is the tier that unlocks all the crafting perks, which I personally avoid. and you would only want 10 PER on a guns character you wanted to take snipe on. you don't need to be so extreme with it man, it's totally not necessary to.
and SMG builds would require DEX, I don't know who told you they need agility, but fuck, man.
have you even played the game? or are you that one autist that claims to have spent the week reading about the game rather than playing it himself?
>blacks out murderer's name and face
>you can still see the murderer's character model
No, I've played the game. I've never done a build that utilized guns; I've only ever played hoplite, psimonk and pure psi wizard.
You don't need that much dexterity. 6 is enough to get 4 bursts per round with a 7.62 jaguar or 3 with an 8.6 steel cat as long as you get a kill to activate commando. 3 str 6 dex 6 agi 6 con 10 per 3 will 6 int. All levels go into per. Real easy.
SMGs need 6 agility to get spec ops and every guns build wants as much perception as possible. Stop trying to give advice.
Google "Underrail SMG burst build", it was one of the recommended builds for boobs many versions back, but should still be mostly relevant. Your core feat is Spec Ops.
>doing the arena
>electroshock bolt jumps into the audience
>be a fucking retard
>get assblasted when anons point out how fucking retarded you are
>"N-NO U"
Nice response user, everyone point and laugh
>those many 6's
I've heard that having 4's and 6's is bad. Or is that just an elitist meme trying to come off as gospel? Also, 10 con seems good, but wouldn't you want 7 INT to unlock all the crafting perks?
Will do. Is SMG burst fun?
You need a particular brand of autism to get into retro RPGs. Being convoluted is part of the charm to them.
You're the only one retarded enough to still be taking the bait three hours later, so no.
>posting a smash reaction image here
>all of which is a wojak
Go back to your nu-Yea Forums threads.
Yeah it's fun and versatile, it was the first build I beat the game with.
Before I trust you and go through the whole intro again, I must ask; how hard was Depot A for you with this build?
considering you can only get enemy specific oddities by killing enemies it appears that not only are YOU the brainlet, but an underlevelled brainlet.
I don't remember man it was like 2 or 3 years ago. Depot A isn't difficult It's just the area that a lot of people who don't have a solid grasp of game mechanics struggle with. Just bring molotovs and grenades and you'll be fine.
Here's a tip that trivializes the area if you're fine with being spoiled: Make some siphoner leather armor, or mutated dog leather armor
If there was some kind of threshold of damage for aggroing literally an entire faction it would be much better. You shouldn't have to reload an encounter because a guy cut across a tile on fire, took 4 damage, and now everyone wants you dead.
don't reply to him, he's done that for weeks. I'm not even sure if he's finished the game, nor why he cares enough to dedicate that much effort to shitposting.
Not that guy, but Depot A is not even remotely hard on anything but the most gimped-ass characters. Having to quicksave and quickload a lot doesn't mean the area is hard. If you're truly underlevelled (sub-5) there are plenty of other things you can do for XP, even on oddity. Don't take Depot A as your measure of if a build is good.
When the hell can I find a hornet frame? I've been using the same rifle for hours and I want my double burst.
Surely setting loose four burrowers and their spawn in the center of a city to watch them fight is a terrible fucking idea?
>crawler round
being underlevelled doesn't matter when i don't have to fight 80% of the NPCs in the game :^)
Will do. I figured. My first build ever focused on crossbows and offensive psi... no traps, shit CON, shit AGI. I got my shit rocked.
My current playthrough is a full psi (10 CON/10 WIL/8 INT) and I guess its cool, but I want to use guns, seeing as how the crafting skills can replicate the same effects as metathermics.
What are good stats for a hoplite build? Are there any good spear builds that utilize traps?
11 Strenght mandatory, the rest you choose
I'd take 6 agility for sprint and 5 intelligence for expose weakness tho
The rest either in CON or DEX
I hope no one uses pistols. SMGs roflstomp their shit so hard.
HARDCORE
How about a chem pistol build?
big spoilers, newbs fuck off
this nigga has 3000hp, but if you look at the damage I dealt...
I just decapitated Tchort.
Those are fine since their utility can triviliaze fights. Entanglement and Cryo pistols are basically traps in a gun especially with the talent that doubles on-hit effects.
How do I start a chempistol build? I cant find any decent explanations when I look it up.
I wish you could rebind keys in this game. Space ends your turn and consequently ends combat, but you can't start combat with it. You have to hit enter. All your utilities are QWER and your main combat abilities are inevitably gonna be 12345, yet entering combat is done through the enter key. Like yeah that makes sense I guess cuz "enter" but the space bar should also enter combat. It's annoying. Sometimes I'll see a guy in the distance moving towards me from out of the dark and before I can hit the enter key he's spotted me and initiated it himself, and I'm a low agi tin can so it's like I lose the initiative roll twice.
>hoplite build
I keep seeing this but I don't really get the point of focusing on a shield for your build. Riot armor+shield already has a shit armor penalty, you might as well just be a full tin can.
? ? ?
>spawns
WHY CAN'T I JUST STEP ON THESE CUNTS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I HAVE TO WASTE AMMO ON A STUPID BUG THAT CAN'T EVEN DAMAGE ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THEY EVEN BLOCK ME FROM MOVING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
wtf
Ideally 10 DEX 10 PER and 7 or 8 INT as starting stats. Level DEX whenever you can, at 16 it benchmarks another attack with chem pistols. If you don't go for 16 DEX then you'll want to pump something else. Max gun and stealth skill every level. Put points into Chemistry primarily and then branch to the other craft schools. Take the two chem pistol feats obviously, and opportunist which will give bonus damage to things you CC with the pistols. Aimed shot is a given. Get a catalyzing belt when you can.
Chem pistol builds are typically supplemented with energy pistols since those are also craft-heavy and can pretty much have a 100% crit chance using ambush + chance to crit feats/craft components/armor. But if you want to pure chem pistol that opens up a few feats for you to try some psi perhaps, but dont take the psi pill early on because you'll be too squishy with dumped CON.
Because of your high DEX you will also synergize with throwing and traps. And this will synergize with your chemistry because some good traps/nades need it.
Also note that not all feats that mention "pistol" apply to chem pistols. Look at the wiki for more info on those.
Okay, that's neat, and I don't know why I thought you couldn't rebind keys. I know I've seen this screen before. But you can't have space both end turn and start/end combat.
not the user you just replied to but wow you're rather knowledgeable. Good stuff user. Have you tried that build?
also, got any good melee/shotgun builds?
I've never tried pistol because everyone says the only way to do pistol and not get your teeth knocked out is to go chem or energy, but how do you deal with early game for a chem pistol build? I don't think I've seen anything to make one until maybe halfway through junkyard, and even then it seemed like the ammo for them is kinda scarce. It's not like any other firearm build where you can be stockpiling ammo until you can make or find your first weapon.
I know that you can craft the ammo, but it's rather expensive.
N-NANI?!?
did a chem pistols/time magic build not too long ago, it was honestly borderline OP on hard
early game until you get your warcrime guns is dodgy, but doable if you know your stuff. i went 3 str, 8 dex, 6 agi, 3 con, 3 will, 8 per, 7 int. you will die to almost anything until you get to crafting a shield emitter, but once you get that up and a decent acid/cryo gun you'll be unstoppable. be sure to get sure step, you'll be dropping acid pools everywhere you go. which frees you up to drop caltrops literally everywhere, and since you *did* put some points into bio you can be dropping crawler caltrops and acid entanglement to ensure enemies will never get to move a single step.
time magic is there to help you with contraction for extra shots thanks to your catalyzing belt stacking increased damage. i found point shot to be a godsend, giving me another shot at minimal ap cost as long as i was close range, which was almost always anyway. pump dex once you get perception up to 9-10. the ap cut starts to pay off incredibly well once you get the advanced cata belt and you're firing off 100+ damage + immobilizing over 3x3 squares 4-5 times a turn.
RP as a mad scientist and help out tchortists whenever possible for extra cool points.
cheese what? THEY are the ones cheesing it, I just ran away the first time since they were overwhelming me
I am unable to progress and am looking down the barrel of resetting my game, the part that bothers me the most is that this behavior is not "intuitive" it feels like inverted metagaming.
It seems pretty easy to live without taking technology skills, am I right about that?
Do you need crafting at all?
read the post after the one you've quoted
90 real life minutes, does not matter if I speed up time?
Yes, 90 minutes. Every turn is 5 seconds, 2x time will make time go 2x fast.
Speed up time to max and use Cheat Engine's speedhack as well. You can cut it down to a couple minutes.
Early game you rely on SMGs because like I said they stomp bullet pistols. Get the watch for jonas and ask him for the smg. Sell all your spare ammo and guns to lucas and load up on whatever ammo the smg needs, you're gonna need it until you craft your chem guns. Anything you can't kill you're better off sneaking past than getting stuck at, and you will find a fair bit of things that kill you too fast if you have low initiative which is why I pump stealth so you can start those fights first.
The ammo is mostly going to be crafted. It's fairly heavy ammo but chemists like Quinton sell vials for ultra cheap as well as the stuff you put in them. Go to doctors for the bonding agent. Since you won't use other guns/bullets you can just sell those to fund your chem ammo which is a good deal since you'll be swimming in coins by the midgame once your craft game starts getting stronger and assuming you loot a lot of shit.
Theorycrafted some melee but the appeal wasn't there for me. Ideally you want your melee to be supplemented with either traps or very strong CC from psi. So traps and throwing on a melee build is mandatory, throwing less so if you go psi. You're going to want very high CON regardless of which melee weapons you use. Go for Mechanics and Electronics crafting skills to supplement your melee weapons with electrical which can chain targets. Take feats to reduce armor penalty because if you go metal you're going to have shit movement. Sprint is a given in that regard.
Haven't touched shotgun yet.
>Walk down an alley and get shanked to death by two invisible jackasses
>Oh boy now I get to reload
This fucking game pulls the invisible enemy/trap shit way too often. At least give a damn sound cue for "enemy nearby" or something.
That's what detection does, user. Invest in motion tracking goggles.
Alright lads. Help me decide.
Spec Ops SMG, or Mad Scientist Chempistol.
On one hand, a stealthy smg agent who can fire off lots of shots sounds really fun. Supplementing that with crafted gas grenades makes me feel all cozy, like an operator.
On the other, chempistol sounds destructive as hell. Turning people into pools of biomass via dissolving them into acid seems fun. For some reason though I can't really get into it as a character; a frail mad scientist wandering around the brutal cave wilds. eh. I guess I like characters that are adapted to their surroundings, really becoming apart of it.
Or well, I could go tin can shotgun. Doom guy essentially.
Is the best sniper rifle a rapid reloader spearhead? Should I use the Dragunov until then since it's easy to find, unlike rapid reloaders?
Dude just play the fucking game already.
I did, and now get to live with a dodge penalty forever because the alternative is random death.
That's what I get for investing into nimble and dodge though I suppose
Spec Ops SMG has been a staple build since forever so it's tried and true, a lot safer choice if you're not confident in combats.
Even though I recommended chempistols a few posts up, I'd say if you think the smg operator is cozy then that's your best bet. I mostly perfected my chembuild because I liked the adventurer pistol nerd feel.
>going after balor
>fuck up stealthing through the first room, alarm goes off
>decide to just bottleneck everyone that rushes in
>like fifteen guys later balor walks into the room
>goddamn it this is going to be the worst F9 ever
>plasma crit his face
>he walks away
Which way, zoner?
>with one frag grenade
Remember to sell all the junk you find and use the money to buy grenades. I know crafting components are tempting to carry but you won't be using them for a while. Your inventory should be pure combat for best results early game.
Flares are an option. You're never gonna have to deal with scorpion shits alongside humanoids, so you can just take off your goggles until you're in some shitty cave.
MIRANDA PLEASE BE MY GF
Nothing you can craft early game is even worth it unless it's war crime grenades. Maybe a bullet resistant tac vest or high DT metal armor. You shouldn't be carrying around crafting crap anyway if you're not just running between merchants.
throwing a grenade at your own feet as a tin can tank and watching everything evaporate while you take zero (nada) [0] damage is such a good feel
About to start a tin-can shotgun build. Any tips? I'm about to go 5 INT/8 STR/8 PER/10 CON. Should I fix these stats? Also, how the heck do I get an early shotgun?
Shotgun typically by the time you get to junkyard. Check GMS compound.
Stats are good
How much did I fuck myself over by not puting any points in Hacking (oddity run)?
Should I dump all my next lvl skillpoints into it?
I'm level 11.
6 int for armor sloping and 9 for tungsten at some point but otherwise that's fine
Have more than 4 DEX? Could put in less than you need to and still be fine, get a haxxor MK II or III
>Also, how the heck do I get an early shotgun?
Don't pick your weapon at the start, sneak by or punch rats to death until you're level 2, then invest into persuasion until you have 20.
Once you have 20 you can go pick your starting weapon and say you had a shotgun, you actually get a unique shotgun out of it, though a bit weak.
vindicator has been fine so far, but when can I find combat shotguns?
I didn't use a guide for this. That encounter is super easy given how prone they are to killing themselves with poorly thrown grenades.
which psi skill do I invest in for tanking?
>3 protectorates to loot
Wow, that is insanely lucky. I reload-scummed for a while just to get one dead in conjunction with Silas surviving.
criinge and unbased
Defend this garbage.
It has been millennia now that video games exist and they still use the completely outdated, mundane and nonsensical system of dealing out arbitrary point at the start of the game before you even know how everything works.
The only "RPG" that does it right with character creation is NEO scavenger.
its true, skill based systems are shit. ideally a game would have dozens of tested and balanced classes to pick from.
in this way, when one becomes stuck in the game the question becomes an immersive "how do i solve this problem?' and not a metagaming "did i make a bad build?"
unfortunately people often believe going in the exact opposite direction of what they want is the way to get there, and when it doesn't work they must only go even further.
In this case they believe some abstract 'freedom of choice' is making the game more role playing and immersive. But there is no such thing as choice, or freedom. They are forced to optimize, min/max, and consider the mechanics of the game, and will have to 'freely choose' the only sensible option available to them. Thus the illusion of choice becomes a constraint all the while believing they are free.
I CAN'T SPEND MY LAST 15 POINTS
I have throwing, melee, hacking, lockpicking, evasion, chemistry, and mercantile.
Play as a hammer wizard
bro you've been shitposting for hours. I'm actually laughing
I just woke up tho.

I've seen these two exact same posts twice so far.
I just want to say thank you Yea Forums. I was ignoring this game for no real reason aside from the fact that it didn't really look all that interesting. Your constant threads finally got the best of my curiosity, and I finally said fuck it, and decided to grab the game. I am loving this game very much.
Still pretty early on, only level four so far, and I just finished the fight with the raiders in the GSC (or whatever the acronym was) and managed to save Sully and friends, for a whopping no reward.
It's been repeatedly kicking my ass, but it has its hooks in me, and I can't get enough.
Seth make me buy game :)
What's your build? You might hit a brick wall in difficulty soon if you built your character poorly. Glad you're enjoying it though, user.
Then lurk more. I posted it 4 times.
I bought this game almost 2 years ago.
Have they made it not take 500 years to load or travel anywhere.
I have a relatively good ssd and its fucking insufferable to do anything.
I don't wanna use cheatengine to deal with all the backtracking.
It's not that annoying, is it? Trains and alt tabbing should do you well
throwing 16 (24)
melee 35 (52)
dodge 30 (40)
evade 30 (40)
hacking 15
lockpick 23 (36)
traps 15 (25)
mechanical 10
chem 20 (21)
bio 12 (15)
tailoring 10
psych 28 (25)
persuasion 15 (17)
mercantile 21 (24)
And I was wrong, I was level 5. I just leveld up to level 6 between my last message and this one, and haven't allocated my stats yet.
Do whatever the fuck you want man. I smoked Tchort with my dumb "I'm going to shoot stab and throw grenades" build that has like 2 feats that were probably stupid. I'm lvl25 doing the DLC and basically smoking my way through it. At this point idk what I would really put points into. I have 100 in all the crafting abilities. I love making better shit then I could ever find. Oh and mk5 nades are retarded.
????
It takes me 1 second to load anything with an old HDD
Some of those skills seem a bit low, but you should be good as long as you keep maxing out that melee skill every level up. Protip: Level up bio some more and start crafting your own adrenaline shots and go nuts.
>doing gang showdown
>some shitter walks into my Molotov
>he doesn't even get hit by initial blast, he just fucking walks into flames
>eels turn hostile
That shit is more frustrating than depot A I swear
AI needs improvement mod, like having a threshold of damage before they turn hostile and something a little more complex than run directly at the enemy.
Cool, thanks. I put my points into melee, dodge, evade, mechanical, bio, and tailoring.
Right now the only points I'm regretting is the points I put into hacking. I've yet to find the item that lets me hack. I'm thinking I just overlooked it in one of the shops in the starting compound.
Is the hacking device like the omnitool in that it has as many uses as I need, or is it like lockpicks where I need one per use?
It's called a Haxxor or something and yeah you missed it it in the starting base. Ezra sells them and they run on batteries. Honestly though, your hacking skill is looking pretty low, you're gonna start seeing 40-50 locks soon.
Do I have to be under the effects of the juyce in order to find (not use) the rifts? Because I assumed there would be a rift somewhere in SGS but I can't find it anywhere.
Where the fuck do I find Terry and Lora? I walked from Rail Crossing to Core City and didn't spot them, everyone in Rail Crossing says they never got to Rail Crossing, everyone in Core says they took a train to Rail Crossing. Help.
You can spot the circles if you've got good eyes and you just happen to look in the right place, but, without the juice, you're very likely to just walk right by them. Focus on secluded spots when you're looking for rifts.
Yes
I got 13 perception so I should be able to see 'em, I'll check around some more
Is there any way to skip the damn intro? I've played it so many times now, I don't want to do it with the DLC but I lost my saves.
It literally says "Skip Intro" as soon as your done ceeating your char
I wonder what the focus and additions of future expansions will be.
>wouldn't humanity have evolved in a couple hundreds years
No
>like a game
>can't play it anymore without being accused of bandwagoning some faggot youtuber
Dumb frogposter, how about you kill yourself?
Yeah but it wouldn't take only 200 or so years for the sun to burn out, that's like a gorillion years in the future
>t. faggot pretending to like something because le funny man told him to
who cares man, play what you want when you want, what's the big deal
Just started, caught 2 surplus cave hoppers, what can I do with them? Apparently the guy who needed them captured so badly won't buy them, nor will anyone else
Can I somehow harvest organs from them or something?
how the hell do you make enough money to buy stuff like the good jet skis, shopkeepers only buy a couple things at a time
Level mercantilism and know good ways to make money.
After a while you'll be swimming in dosh. Sure you can only get like 300-500 charons from each seller, but when you have like 5 of them in each major hub you'll quickly get more charons than you'll ever spend. Also jet skis are not worth buying the one you get is already almost the best.
At what level should i start the expedition? I just finished the oligarch stuff and got a home at 15 level, feeling pretty strong.
>This is ok in the eyes of the rpg branilett.
When you finished the arena.
Is the gauntlet worth it?
>branilett
Is this some french dish?
>Dex is pointless on anything that isn't a ballistic pistol build. maybe get it up to 7 and dump the rest on INT and PER.
YOU FUCKING ABNORMAL RETARD. YOU UTTER FUCKING MORON. YOU ACTUAL SUBHUMAN DEGENERATE.

Gaunlet is trash gimmick shit. Depends on your build.

Just started playing the game, if I buy the DLC can I access it on an old save or do I need to start a new game?
I started my first playthrough yesterday and I went for a pistol/psi build. Is that a viable build, or should I just create a new character while it's not too late? I probably fucked up the stats anyway since I'm playing completely blind
I would suggest trashing it, but you might try out depot a first. If you can get through it you'll learn more about the game and be prepared to make your next build better.
Ignore this guy. If you're not on hard or dominating then the build is fine, if you are then its still fine since psi is busted just be ready to reload a lot
Yeah but he's not doing pure psi. He's doing psi/pistol hybrid which would suck.
I wish you can bear traps from scrap metal or something, it makes no sense that you only get like one bear trap from a steel plate. It's not that big of a deal since you can buy a lot of bear traps from vendors anyway, but it would be nice if you can craft your own without carrying 20lb steel plates.
But you get ten?
With PSI it helps but ballistic pistols require a good understanding of the game and they don't really flourish until later I feel and even then it's hard to play. Just try to go for Depot A and see if you like the build, if you don't, no shame in restarting. If you want something close range as a back up weapon, I recommend shotguns though they use a lot of feats.
You do? I could have sworn you only get 1, maybe I'm crazy.
Because its overtuned a way to fix this would be maybe give you 2 Rathbun ds for the first encounter, not 5 or 8, same with psi beetles, maybe not 3 or 4 in the first area, how about 2 or 1
That or universally make everything in the game deal more damage so you aren't rewarded for min maxing only
And yes I beat the game on normal
Show us your name!
running a first playthrough with a dodgy psychotic mind fryer. after dicking around with the builder my current build should have room for 1 more feat and stat point and I'd like to use that on grenades since this shit trivializes tough fights. should I get spec ops and shove that one stat point into INT or should I dump one DEX and get grenadier?
or alternatively should I just give up on grenade perks and get Psychostatic Electricity for more crit boosting?
you get 10. if you use poison it's 5
>going for a sniper build, pick 6 strength to wield them
>the main rifle I use is the Spearhead for their 24AP cost from rapid reloader
>they only require 5 strength so I didn't need that strength point
I mean it's not that big of a deal but I could have used another point in INT.
Thanks, I'm at the Junkyard anyway, there's no harm to try it a little more
NO!
This is why I always tell people to not put points into something they might not need. Will you use 6 strength snipers maybe maybe not, so put 5 points at first and then later you can always put that one point if you need it. Same with int you're not gonna pick up crafting perks early on and you're not gonna be crafting any amazing shit so save yourself some points and put them into int later.
How high should I increase my lockpicking skill?
what's the minimum amount of points do you have to dump on trap stat in order to use every single available type of them in the game?
>game literally posted maybe once or twice in a year
>epic sseth makes a video
>thread about the said game gets made every day
Unironically based, who here zoomerchad? I thought I was the only one who LARPed about knowing jack shit about old games, but I guess everyone is a zoomer here.
we've had threads about the game for the month and a half or so because of the expansion, are you retarded?
I just didn't realize that there was 5 strength sniper rifles, I assumed they were all 6 strength. And to be fair, I didn't get access to Spearheads until the mid-game when the parts started to show up in shops though you can find the unique Spearhead equivalent (I think it's the SVD) under Buzzer's shop.
around 100 effective. you have jackknife and lockpicks to increase it even more if needed
80 to use every trap but you most likely wont use them.
40 to use the best ones: burrower, crawler and cave ear
>finally go down to Deep Caverns
>basically a 40% combat stat reduction constantly
Thank god I'm playing a stealth oriented character, this seems like ass to fight in.
thanks m8. I'm playing as a psi character and these things eases up hobo mana points usage by a metric fuckton. wouldn't survive many fights without them but I don't want to base my build around trap setting.
There is something boat carving in the zone.
cave ear caltrops into burrower traps is the gentleman way of dealing with people
You know I've been thinking about these and wouldn't saving them cause loss in quality?
So technically, would that work as actual original tender since you need to go out of your way to fabricate (you's)
>Finally got my 140Q infused Bison Vest
Now all that remains is upping my stealth a bit so I can swap my Black Cloth Tabi for some Great Siphoner tabi and still have respectable stealth thresholds.
>stealth
Is it even worth it?
Late level enemies got such high detection it's insane.
Any ways to respec?
>playing on Normal
Yeah
Make a new character
In other words no
Just started playing the game, if I buy the DLC can I access it on an old save or do I need to start a new game?
You can export your old character but no you have to restart.
Don't worry, it gets faster as you replay it.
ah fuck, I'll just restart, I'm still right near the beginning
Anyone know what armor the gasmask robe guys are wearing?
WHY ARE CRAFTED ITEM DURABILITY SO LOW
I've reached a point in the game where if I let the enemy do anything for even 1 turn I just get stunlocked and die without being able to move. The only way I can win is by cheesing with traps. I don't know what the fuck I did wrong with my character, how are you supposed to work around stuns?
I'm in DC and as far as I'm aware, I don't think I can leave until I kill the final boss right? Does the game end right after or does it let me keep playing afterwards since I haven't done the DLC content yet and some other side quests.
Even on Dominating, 100-120 effective stealth is more than enough for sneaking around and get better positioning for most of the game, I just need enough stealth for that, I'm not a knifefag.
Because you're a craftlet.
I know crafting is quite important here, but how much can I get away with not really putting many points into it on a psion? Between the four psi skills, hacking and lockpicking there really isn't that much space for increase
>four psi skills
You fucked up, brah
You'll want to level up electronics to high levels anyway
I don't know man, I'm doing just fine. Even the supposed difficulty spike at Depot A was a breeze.
what are you playing
Stealth and knife melee
I know I fucked up on some stuff, but first of how was I meant to know how to build a character before playing the game, second I don't see how shifting around a few points will help the actual issue, which is being stunlocked and killed before I can move
Correct. And you can continue playing, it only ends when you click a specific dialog option marked with "Ends the game."
I finished the game without any crafting skills at all. Wasn't easy, but it was doable.
I don't know about fucking DOMINATING, but who really cares about that one?
>4s
>6 str
>3 will, 4 int
>dirty kick, crippling strike, evasive maneuvers, opportunist, expertise
>traps, throwing, GUNS
>5 Mechanics
6/10, needed Snooping to really trigger me
Dirty Kick and Opportunist are great feats. He definitely fucked up his attributes/skills though.
your attributes are not really the best for a knife
you absolutely need feats ripper (requires will 5) and cheap shots (int 5). you cant get those
you're also using subpar equipment coz you have no crafting. im guessing also no mercantile
it's going to be hard if you continue
opportunist is terrible for a knife character, dirty kick is trash but actually better than opportunist
at least he didn't pick cutthroat
>dirty kick is trash
You're wrong, but I feel like you've made up your mind already so there's no point arguing this.
>b-b-b-but i took this from someone!
>t-t-the filenaaaame!!!!!1!
retard
>needing anything other than cheap shots, a taser and fancy footwork
waste of a feat for this build
>implying being able to stun an extra opponent in your turn isn't incredibly useful
It's overkill
Not needed for this build
>Start a new run
>Decided to go with an SMG operator type character
>Find out it's not really my style
>Reach Depot A but quit because lost interest
I'm thinking about starting a knife run with some throwing to supplement it, but I also don't want to lose out on the crafting and traps. I feel like the melee part is fine but I would spread too thin with throwing added in. Can this be a viable build?
hey, i have around 20 different characters in deep caverns. i always restart when the build is "finished" coz i want to try something else.
>didn't look at every feat before starting the game
>lol time to restart 13 hour save you casual
Having to take int and will for this character archetype is so unintuitive
Also I don't get how those perks would help me survive being stunned anyway
Why are opportunist and expertise bad, and what's wrong with traps and throwing
where should i go after depot/junkyard, core city seems too hard
camp hathor
rail crossing
some exploration of foundry. do some easy quests, search trash for oddities
What's a good build to let me dab on Crawlers/Death Stalkers?
Literally wherever you want. Explore.
Camp hathor is the one more suited for your level, get some working TNTs
Doing a chem pistol/grenades build. Should I invest a bit in traps as well? Feels like it might be beneficial both to avoid being shitfucked by mines and to set up battlefields where possible.
you can put few points so you don't step on every mine.
yell to reveal them, flurry to chop them up
Foundry. Tons of oddities and lots of easy quests aside from Balor.
Gotcha. What's the guideline for effective level? I've gathered that for hacking/lockpicking, it's usually enough to have it as high as the base could be at a given character level. Should I aim for the same?
knives are all about critical hits. you need feats that multiply criticals in some way
Check your mail
I unlock cheap shots and ripper at level 35 and 45, and I'm going to gain 4 total base ability points at level 24. So I can just increase my will and int then get those feats way later right?
Also how do you deal with stuns on a glass cannon character
machete + shield any good? havent touched this since original release and looking to try the new weapons out
Make sure to get a shield before doing Camp Hathor
Is crossbow/stealth/traps/chem/hacking/mechanics any fun or should I go just melee? I heard its just kiting
there's a level 30 cap
you dont deal with stuns, you should never be stunned. even the best minmaxed glass cannon build dies if stunned.
sneak behind, stab the fucker, move away. if there are many enemies use stealth to lay traps beforehand, then stab them.
Do you seriously have to wade through miles of caves full of spiders and crabs to get to the nexus of technology with
1. Throwing
2. Melee
3. Traps
4. Mechanics
5. Electronics
6. Chemistry
7. Biology
8. Tailoring
You'll probably have to go tin-can to make up for no dodge or evasion but otherwise I don't see how this would make you spread to thin.
You could probably even drop Tailoring and get something else, if you went tin can.
Was thinking of doing an asshole bomber who sneaks around throwing nades and when spotted just leads enemies into mines and shit for more boom. Would that work out? Usually i just try myself but, at least in my experience, stealth is always broken(be it good or bad way) so i figured i'd at least ask about that. You probably don't need it to be an asshole bomber but still.
What are these numbers next to the level requirement?
Stealth and traps are better for preparing for fights, putting mines and shit everywhere and directing your enemies into them while shooting and running from them seems to work best for me.
Skill requirements I think
I decided to try a gunman mine/grenade build a few days ago
Currently in depot A, I've found I get way more use out of my traps and grenades than I seem to my own gun.
Would recommend investing into crafting, as you can make your own bombs and stuff then, otherwise you'll go broke from buying grenades and shit.
Also lets you make more advanced stuff if you have the skills.
I love cocktails. it helped me kill 4 rathounds as lvl 1 to get psy powers early
Are you on classic?
If so, just think of it as a chance for a good chunk of XP
I forgot to mention I want it to be stealth focused, assassin type of character.
use this to play around until you're happy. better than browsing wiki
underrail.info
.tm/build/
I just completed the stolen supplies mission, and the entire thing seems very fishy. Are the free drones a false flag gang for the protectorate?
I've been making one in the character builder, but it's hard to know which feats are essential to take at the start without playing the game. Movement skills like Hit & Run and Interloper seem fun to me, however the best ones are probably like Sprint and Aimed Shot.
>AEZESIN IS EXACWY WAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN
I'm doing it right now, it's all about preparing the field beforehand and killing everything before the enemy can get a single hit on me. There is kiting only if I fuck up or get the epic 5% misses, thanks to Styg for the aim cap :)
Yeah this was my starting point but I want to merge it with his ninja build. Where the knife fails I can use nades or throwing knifes.
I would rather have all the gear i'm burning through at record pace than XP
Besides, I generally hate giant spiders as enemies. They're always annoying bastards with the movement reduction and the poison.
It's a branch, both drones and protectorate have their questlines and you just chose protectorate.
If I want to take full advantage of crafting, do I have to just check the wiki for the likely crafting skill breakpoints? It seems counter-productive to level them without knowing what's going to be needed for given components.
you can always shave off crafting points and put them into throwing
Goddamn I hate that guy's voice. Autistic breakdowns are annoying by default, but add the way he speaks and it's impossible to sit through.
just click on the build link in the description
Well, all options led to killing the guys, and fuck them for stealing supplies to other stations.
Assuming that all parts are of level 160 quality, this is the effective crafting skill required.

Again, all equipment was made with quality 160 parts for reference. Don't forget, you can get a +15% to crafting skills with crafting benches in your house. Some parts don't go that high, like leather, or psi carapaces only going to 100~. So you'll need way less skill points invested
There was an option where you tell them you'll pretend you didn't see them and report to Rail Crossing that you did not find the train.
Tranquility or Psychosis?
Do you want to use more powers per turn and/or between hypos, or less but with intense annihilation?
Psichosis + survival instincts
Don't need health if you instantly nuke everything before they can even react.
and neural overclocking, can't forget about that
Become walking talking annihilation in a can
>sarah michelle gellar
???
Ok im gonna pick annihilation.

is there anything else to bump critical chance
please excuse my 3 int
Psychostatic electricity and focus stims
Not really
There's some memes you can pull with shield bash tho
>I have to have WAY less than maximum inventory capacity just in case I get my strength reduced by a specific type of enemy and if I don't the effects will fuck up my ability to fight
Nice game, retards.
I don't blame you, it is counterintuitive, but this game relies heavily on knowing what's coming beforehand or metagaming.
Expertise doesn't work with criticals, just focus on feats that increase your critical chance and critical damage bonus. I'd recommend you to start over, you cannot play a knifer without cheap shots. Opportunist is bad because you won't have stuns or slows (cheap shot doesn't count, when you incapacitate someone with cheap shots you immediately stop hitting him if you're dealing with a group). I guess it's good if you're going traps but I'm an autist and I finished my run without ever using a single trap or throwable (except flares). Traps and throwing are good but I feel like people here are too reliant on them for their build to work.
Should I go to rail crossing, the camp and factory to the east of SGS, or core city, just finishing up Dudes quest at the crossing but everything around it fucks me up especially the faceless and the sniper bandit that I think is on the path around them, doing AR dumb tank build but tungsten has 9 str requerment and i got 8
I did a little it of respecing and this is how my character looks now, with two more points in int and 1 less in both dex and con. Am I smart now?
Factory to the east of SGS has almost no fighting, it's a puzzle quest.
Rate my build, created it myself with no prior reading so no idea if it's good. Served me well so far, wanted to be a stealth, melee, trap, thiefy character.
you shouldnt fight faceless bruv
you know it's shit, stop memeing
I fought faceless at rail crossing. Can you even save the guy in his shop without clearing up the faceless?
yes
you can go through the caves. entrance to the caves is south from his shop
not him but can you destroy the bots
>getting killed by psi laser cat attacks before I even get my turn
Thank you based Dude bro
That's what I did, since I couldn't kill three faceless inside when entering from the main entrance, but if entering from the caves, I could kill the guy that was patrolling without alerting the other two, and then I could kill the remaining two without help of the third. So, you're saying if you kill the mind reader guy upstairs, the rest will just disperse?
Hey how about you try using your F I R E next time.
Why is there a sudden interest in this game, it's 5 years old
Did some cuck youtuber make a meme play on it?
if you jump out of that vent where mindreader patrols, you can talk to him.
Oh shit! They talk?
you mean those patroling around buzzer's house?
you can do a quest in rail crossing and bring some battery shit and they'll be disabled
This is baseline staby throwy man 290 skill points left over, no expose weakness but some people swear by it
Fuck around with as needed
hey hey user
Ah, I remember that, but you had to either pay the guy or convince him, so that was clearly not an option for me.
Used it all, will probably have to unfuck myself with flasehs and normal ass nades now
you can always kill them or help them. but guess what will happen if you're a bitch to them.
I don't though, I guess I'm just gonna tough it out.
[Int 3] What?
you gonna have a bad time sooner or later
I think the idea is that you have to find one stat that's related to the damage you deal and max it to 15, since bonuses scale non-linearly.
I've already been to hell. What else can they do to me?
Anyway my allegiance is to the SGS. Fuck faceless and fuck anything that's not from thew south.
I commend you for toughing it out and actually sticking to Role playing ideals and picking Burglar of all feats. A shame about your feat selection though. Also, dump every stat point from now on into dex until you get to 12 DEX +tabi boots for 12 attacks/turn
Also some criticism about feats please. For those stats: I regret picking Opportunist (the build told me to pick it and I did without thinking). Also picked paranoia and snooping to be able to detect crawlers, but alas still can't.
spoilers below
it will come time when you have to deal with directly
and they remember everything you did and will act accordingly
you killed 1? you get a pass. you killed 10? you gonna get fucked (i dont know the exact numbers, but you get the point)
not gonna read that shit nigga
but thanks for spoilering it
Thanks for the build seems solid, but I'll opt out of psi this run. How much bio is needed for decent poison throwing knifes and caltrops?
>this entire Deep Caverns section
It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE ARKE POWER PLANT 50 TIMES TO POWER DIFFERENT THINGS TO GET ACCESS TO PARTS
Just respec your feats
:^)
Snooping for crawlers? Did you even read the feat description?
u are as pathetic as he is
Well, you could interpret a crawler as a secret passage to your death.
Anyway, I think it should be fairly easy to respec the feats - they weould be stored in an array of either 1 byte or 4 byte integers, and by toggling some on level up you can find its location and hence the location of other feats too.
snooping really? with your legendary perception...
you're fine otherwise
Not my finest moment.
