I'd rather take Dome fossil.

Attached: kabuto stare.png (521x391, 199K)

I got a Kabuto toy from McDonald's when I was a kid so I'm gonna have to go with the dome fossil famiglia

they're both too much of a pain in the ass to train by the time you get them.

Kabutops can't learn any Rock moves, and Omastar has better Special for it's Water attacks.

my older brother had red and I had blue, so when he took the kabuto I had to take the omanyte. while I now know that kabuto is clearly better, I somehow convinced myself that I was better off with omanyte.

Push the nerd and take them both. What fuck is he gonna do about it?

Is gary still a thing in the modern anime seasons?

They're both pretty garbage and you get them at an inconvenient timing where you have to raise them 10+ levels after not even having any trainers to fight to do so left.

He retired after Johto to become a researcher like his grandpa
I remember seeing him in the DPP anime during the Shieldon episode

I know he came back as a cameo in the gen 4 anime. But, I think that's it.

Whichever one had the giant scythe arms when it evolved, I think Kabuto. Him and Scyther were my jam.

Kabuto was better and more useful but omastar is the less edgy option so I always rolled with him. I always pick the less popular title and starter too. Blue/silver etc ivysaur/bayleaf

Cope.

This. Your goal is to complete the pokedex, not to play nice with some nerd who couldn't even beat team rocket grunts.

Download a randomizer or randomize a rom yourself. Much more enjoyable

>be me
>randomized roms from each generation
>found a mew in Red before Pewter gym
>fast forward to Emerald
>Zapdos and Latias before first gym

you won't regret it

That sounds like the opposite of fun.

Both pokemon sucked. That being said, I always took the dome fossil because I like Kabutops design.

I'm pretty sure that when I first played pokemon I didn't understand what you were supposed to do with the fossils and never got a fossil pokemon.

I wanted Kabuto but I don't like Kabutops. Kabuto is weird and cute but Kabutops just looks cool in a boring way.

You should randomize what game you're playing and stop playing the same one like a retard.

Depends if you are just playing for the story/solo, or battling other humans.
Kabuto is better overall, but Omastar can be just as good if you're just doing the story.
I might be wrong, been a loooong time since I played these.

give me dome

Old amber from the museum plz

No.

>He retired after Johto to become a researcher like his grandpa

So what the fuck is the timeline for him being a trainer? Ash is still 10, so each and every single one of these leagues has to get squished down into being done in shorter amounts of time. Gary maybe lasted a trainer for a couple of months?

>there will never be another experience as genuine as twitch plays pokemon red

The fossil lab is so late in the game that these Pokemon are basically worthless, so I just grab the one in front of me and keep moving.

it was all fun and games until they released that first pokemon

It was still really funny when they tried to get zapdos and released like 12 pokemon and got dig rat back into the party

don't you have access to it after the second badge?

Randomizers are gay and so are you

Both are pretty shit in gen 1 but Omastar looks cooler

That just made it more fun

You gain access to museum's backroom where you can get Aerodactyl's after the second badge. The fossil lab that lets you actually retrieve the Pokemon is all the way out on Cinnabar Island; the last town in the game. By the time you can use a fossil Pokemon the endgame opens up, and you most likely have a team set up by then.

Fuck, how come that was so long ago? Also insane how nintendo didn't never took that down

everything is randomized. even the pkmn stats.

i spent an hour leveling certain pokeys i wanted just to be able to hold their own.

i mean, as someone who beat every game in vanilla, it's nice to just mess around and enjoy the game in a different way.

not to mention nuzlocke challenges

>The fossil lab that lets you actually retrieve the Pokemon is all the way out on Cinnabar Island
right. I misremembered and thought you can revive the fossils in pewter city, but it was just where you get old amber.

Good thing the emulator allows me to increase the game speed to 8x so I can grind them quickly.

Honestly it would have been much better if you could do it there. Having it take that long was a mistake.

Not to mention you get at it level 5, and by that point your enemies are floating around the 40s and 50.

I’m pretty sure fossils are revived at level 20

They're level 30 in gen 1 and 5 in gen 3

He won this one

who actually uses omastar?

People who need a decent rock or water type special attacker with more than ok defensive stats

The truth of it all was that he was just a shitter that only lasted 2 gens. Back when all the meme's was just warming up to him, painting him as "GARY FUCKING OAK" when in reality, he was Gary fucking Joke and so genwunners continue never accept this and still like to pretend he's some sort of Alpha chad who went around with fake badges he probably bought at a pokegift store. I mean, look at this shit and how proud he is of it. He was only good because there was someone worse than he was and that was Ash. It was Ash who made him look good in comparison.

so no one

They come revived at like level 45 in Go P/E and they are great for Blaine’s gym

Paul was always better rival. Too bad he never showed up again after the end of DP. But at least his arc ended well.

The original Pokemon games are pretty clearly very poorly thought out. They have a lot of charm and nostalgia factor but damn if RBY isn't a janky mess in nearly all respects.

people complain about the jank and bugs but the battle bugs especially mean that you can play with pokemon that are garbage in every other game and they're actually good. So in reality, this isn't much of a negative other than in the "something doesn't work as it did in every other game afterward so it must be bad" point of view.

Randomizers have a couple of legit uses

1: Randomize starter pokemon to another first-stage pokemon
2: Randomize encounters, but map them so that their replacement is equivalent in power
3: Randomize tm spawn, again equivalent exchange only
4: Randomize trainer pokemon, no legendaries

there's one thing that sadly does not exist yet and which honestly should: procedural generation of trainer teams
issue with randomizer is that in games post-RBY a pokemon's level-up moveset is often worse than what's given to important trainers
there should be an option to give them random pokemon with each of them having a workable, dangerous moveset

the Gen 3 remakes at least have the Sevii Islands to pad out the time between Cinnabar and the League and Exp Share

>in Go P/E

This site is for people over 18 years of age.

kabutops looks cooler, but I still would prefer dugtrio

I wanted to play Gen 1 again but with better graphics

I don't follow. Fossils are like Larvitar, totally pointless unless you want to go out of your way to train one. I don't think there are any significant problems with RBY game design other than the S.S Anne permanently leaving if you don't do the trick.

Kabutops is so cool, so I went with Dome Fossil. Never actually used him in my party though, he wasn't very good. I think Omastar is stronger.

I did one of these, but it included new pokemon as well, just in the same sprite style as gen 1. It was actually pretty cool, and there was a shit ton of variety.

>better graphics

Bitch have you played through the original red, blue, or green recently?

That's why they made LGFR

What's wrong with it?

I always liked Omastar and I traded it over to Silver when I was a kid so I could actually use it. Omastar was always less popular so I was actually a little annoyed when TPP came out and the helix fossil became a meme.

Kabutops is definitely the stronger Pokemon and way more usable though.
