This raises a question about FF7's pacing. Midgar equates to 5 hours of gameplay and yet the remake is 40 hours of just that. Kalm to the Forgotten City equates to somewhere around 20 hours of gameplay. That's a lot of stretched out content

FFVII's saving grace was how fast-paced it was. For 20hours you didn't have any time to rest because something was constantly happening. The only moment it lost steam was near the end after the Junon's escape and the awakening of arms, which is a shame

Yeah this is the worst part about it. I'm not entirely behind the story changes or Tifa's redesign (not because of masturbatory reasons, I just think it was better before), but everything else looks pretty damn good. But... yeah, just part 1. A 6 hour portion of the game stretched out into 30-40+ hours. Future episodes are going to have to rush to cover ground, I fear that there'll be less freedom because it's episodic, and that future episodes will just have less care put into them because they need to rush them out the door.

The real gameplay is choosing your skills and spells when ATB comes up that is what does most of your real damage so no that's not "the game playing itself." It's the Japanese menu, everything in English sounds cool to them. Wouldn't surprise me if it gets changed in localization; it's happened before in FF and countless other games.
