Just finished Astral Chain

Just finished Astral Chain.
Holy fucking shit, I didn't expect it to turn out THIS GOOD back when it was revealed. I remember being "where's bayo3?", now all I care about is "where's Astral Chain 2?".
My personal GOTY, it might be my favourite action game ever. I love the emphasis on exploration, and juggling between fights and research. Other action games are too much button mashing, I like it but I'm more of an exploration fan.
If there are other people like me out there, try astral chain, you'll love it.

Oh and let's not forget about the combat system, because it is so fucking good.
Don't be fooled by who says otherwise. Sure, during the first two chapters it seems quite basic, but as soon as you start expanding your skills, it becomes deep and fun as hell. You start changing legions on the go and do complex combos, earning tons of points and getting S+ like a true master.
Forget about getting S+ at the beginning tough, it is hard as fuck because you are limited.
Last thing, the camera. People complain about the camera being shit. Open the OPTIONS.
Then go to camera, you find 3 switches, play a bit with them in the training room until you find the combination that works for you. I have them all active.

idk if this is a serious post or not but i'm feeling guilty for leaving the game on hold
fucking backlog

Why shouldn't I be serious? What's your backlog? I can help you deciding if it's worth waiting or not.

You should finish it not that long of a game and it gets better the longer you play

Ori
Hollow Knight
Guacamelee
Hotilne Miami 1 and 2
Portal 1 and 2
Enter the Gungeon
Nier Automata
The Messenger
Psychonauts
Divinity
Celeste
Hyper Light Drifter
Darksiders 1 and 2
Yooka-Laylee
Batman Arkham Origins
Prey
And all the SNES games available on the app
Also many other games

It's a 6/10, but I'm glad nintenbabbies are enjoying the simplistic combat

I just realized that you can extend the sword legions spin attack SA by using regular attacks. Are there other SA's that share this quality?

>You start changing legions on the go and do complex combos
There's no call for lies, user.
This is not a game with combos

But there are. Sync attack combos are a thing, and you can do neat little things like using the hit rush skill then using another legion to attack simultaneously with the legion doing the hit rush.

What the fuck are you talking about?

I already said it in the OP
>Oh and let's not forget about the combat system, because it is so fucking good.
>Don't be fooled by who says otherwise.
Shovel Knight and Hotline deserve praise, about the others I'd give priority to Astral Chain. Don't know about Ori, still have to play it.

>Ori

>Hollow Knight
Masterpiece, play it
>Guacamelee
>Hotilne Miami 1 and 2

>Portal 1 and 2
Masterpieces both, play them
>Enter the Gungeon
Don't know for this

>Hyper Light Drifter
Pretty good, it's like if Furi played worse but had an actual world and not just boss fights
>Darksiders 1 and 2
2 is fucking exceptional, play it. I found 1 to be a little slow but a lot of people like it.
>Yooka-Laylee
It can wait, it's okay but not great
>Batman Arkham Origins
>Prey
No idea

You got a lot of work to do, user, but you can at least put Astral Chain in front of Near A Tomato and Yooka

Not him, but you gotta understand, when I search "Astral Chain Combo Video" and the only results are trailers for the game, that gives me pause.

Autists gonna autist, I refuse to believe that a game has the potential for serious combo game and nobody made video wank showing it off. I can find combo videos for Darksiders II, FFXV, Nier Automata, hell even TMNT:MIM. Why not Astral Chain?

>sync attacks
Are a gimmick from Transformers devastation that mostly prevents combo depth by locking your actions in specific situations
>hit rush
Makes a legion auto-attack. That's not a combo

This game has enemies that do not take hitstun, that dodge or attack in the air or on the ground no matter if you're hitting them or not. You aren't gonna see any brea or donburi videos for this game, or even combos as simple and basic as W101's juggles.

Astral is just not that kind of game and misrepresenting it as one will only lead to disappointment.

>currently on file 12
Can I quit to a different file, or would I lose all of my progress?

Are you stupid? Play the game and make them yourself, I upload them on my twitter but I'm not gonna post it here.
Probably retards don't put those video on youtube because there isn't a combo counter, but you can totally chain attacks one after another and changing legions in between.
>I can only think what youtube tells me to think!!!
Holy fuck what a failure of a human being, if you were born 50 years earlier you would be the perfect boomer that believes anything there is on tv.

cheers fellow chadnon

I'm really not interested in dropping $60 on a game that I don't feel confident has meaningful combo game just to see if I can make videos of a combat system I don't have any faith in to start with.

I made that mistake once with Nier Automata, and I was severely disappointed.

Post something cool you did in the game, user. Just post a quick juggle webm or something. I want to see this shit in action in a way that's an actual showcase of some cool attack chaining.

You clearly don't know what the fuck a combo is.
Enjoy your first action game, the director himself said he was making a simple game for everyone to play

The game is good. You have to play fem MC for the butt.

That's what they said about Nier Automata, too, and as I already indicated, I found that game supremely disappointing.

Flashy shit and asscheeks is not a sales pitch. Bayonetta already did that and had quality combat to boot, I refuse to believe that butt precludes combo wank.

Yeah sure bud
it's. A shit cop ism with 10% combat

Does it have local coop? Shant be picking it up unless it does as I want to play it with my girlfriend.

Eh
She's no Toobie

Attached: 1537526007449.jpg (1024x1024, 130K)

To be fair, an action game can be good without a versatile combo system. The entire Ninja Gaiden family of games is basically that, it's just reading enemy behaviors and calling in dials.

>coombrain thinks his game is good because of his meme waifu
A2 is better btw

Yes, you can make your gf control the Legion

Would have been better if this was a monolith game, as it is, it's a shitty Evangelion ripoff.

With combo I mean a sequence of attacks that block the enemy and allow you to keep the upper hand.

2B isn't hot. She got that ass but that's it. It's trivial to give women in vidya perfect bodies, just ask literally any Senran Kagura character. Sex appeal for a character is more than just that, and 2B doesn't have an outfit or an attitude that makes my peepee feel funny. She just has a butt you can see when you climb a ladder.

>simplistic combat
get S+ on any major boss on Ultimate. post screenshot. or shut up

>muh evangelion
Holy fuck read a book for a change.
Evangelion didn't invent anything.

>when I search "Astral Chain Combo Video" and the only results are trailers for the game, that gives me pause.
The game JUST CAME OUT. i could barely even find videos of collectible locations dude. the postgame alone is 71 fucking combat missions in a row.

>just got the Beast Legion
>trying to get through that fucking platforming with a drifting joycon
Jesus Christ, someone fucking kill me.

ignore them it's probably one of those retards spamming Zero score reviews because it came out on switch only

A-ahah, y-yeah, for the butt...

im the opposite i thought DS1 was a great little thing but DS2 is a fucking slog. it is so boring to play. Death as a protag is a void of personality or depth.

What I and most others are looking for is a combat system where there's depth to be found in selecting which moves to use at which points in time in a sequence of attacks based on where you and the enemy are and where you and the enemy will end up as a result of said attacks.

Just being able to string together a sequence of attacks that keep an enemy stunlocked can be done in Kingdom Hearts ffs.

So something that's not in this game, got it.

you will not be able to beat this game with a drifting joycon. just buy a new one.

The first two files are still the worst goddamn part of the game.

Hotline Miami 1 & 2 are a must as well

You always go back to File 12 after finishing any file, feel free to go back without any issue.

For clarity:
-there's no hitstun
-there are very few cancels and they don't open combo paths
-there is no juggling

THIS COULD BE THE END OF TIME
THIS COULD BE THE END OF ME

As someone doesn't really give a fuck about whether this game has combos or not I don't care about the debate you guys are having. But I feel I should point out that this game does have hitstun, you just can't cancel enemy attacks with your own attacks. If you attack an enemy at the right point with the basic baton attacks you can fucking see the hitstun working.

>no hitstun
Wait what

What the fuck? As in you can’t stagger enemies by hitting them? At all?

People have been calling Xenogears an Evangelion ripoff for decades.

There are hitreact animations, that's not hitstun. One is visual, the other is mechanical

DMC5 had so many day 1 combo videos it's not even funny. Hell, Nier Automata had combo videos come out just for the first playable demo for fuck's sake.

>I don't like that this is an Evangelion ripoff
>The guys that have been making Evangelion:The RPG for the last 20 years should make this instead

No fucking way, File 1 is the tutorial and file 2 is easy as hell. There are no mazes and everything is centralized.

the worst part of the game is the forced stealth segments, the subway tunnel chapter and the constant return trips places you just finished cleaning up are worse.

>file 11 literally dumps you right back into the same zone you just fully combed over in file 10 and all the red matter and shit is back
fucking why
>ARI section makes you run TOWARDS THE CAMERA with one of the least controllable mounts ever designed, that veers left and right at the slightest touch of the stick, and you insta-fail if you don't run full tilt the whole time, and you can miss red matter if you don't have a wide enough absorption range

yes you can, retard user just doesn't understand how to not mash ZR melee. you can move your legion behind enemies and play tennis with the enemy's stagger animation back and forth if you have good timing.

wow it's almost like this is astral chain and not devil may cry. V is the only comparable character and his combos literally play themselves as his entire gimmick while he plays violin and reads books

I mean, all action games have at least some enemies/attacks with superarmor, it's not that weird. Hitreact animations are still important for making attacks feel weighty and for influencing enemy position, even if you can't interrupt enemy behaviors.

You can use howl on the beast legion or do enough damage with the right weapon to inflict a temporary stunned state (which stops you from doing your normal string because ???) but you can't use hits or juggles to keep an enemy locked in a combo and unable to counter

Then why does it last all the way up to the finisher?

>wow it's almost like this is astral chain and not devil may cry
Wow it's almost like a game "just being out" doesn't have shit to do with whether or not the game is combo viable and combo autists are gonna combo autist.

Also reminder that FFXV had combo videos coming out for the Episode Duscae demo, and that game had combat as deep as a shot glass.

>Because ???
You unlocked Somersault which is activated by attacking a stunned enemy at close range.

>Wow it's almost like a game "just being out" doesn't have shit to do with whether or not the game is combo viable
>DUHRR THIS GAME EVERYONE WAS ALREADY TRAINED FOR IN DMC4SE HAS COMBO VIDS WHY DOESNT THIS BRAND NEW IP WITH A BRAND NEW COMBAT SYSTEM HAVE FULL WALKTHROUGHS ON EVERY CHANNELFDUHDFUHFDUHUIGDHDGHS

NOT GOING TO PRETEND AND LET IT FALL INTO ASHES, NO

The guy's asking about combo systems, it's accurate to say that what he's looking for is not in the game. Enemies can and will dodge or attack regardless of whether they're being hit.

i sure do love people acting like experts about a game not even 3 weeks old that they almost certainly haven't even beaten-- or even played

youtube.com/watch?v=JuupORJ8LRA

There's a video of someone doing freestyle combos in the fucking PS4 DEMO of Nier Automata just days after it came out. A game which not only had a fairly new combat system (based on the "lingering sword" cancel effect) but also has pretty limited combo depth to begin with.

Yeah, the question was less "how" and more "why god why"

why do you keep posting other games

this game is not those games

shut the fuck up already

So post a single Astral Chain combo
In b4 auto bind sync

no u

>Enemies can and will dodge or attack regardless of whether they're being hit.
All the time, or just sometimes?

Enemies can parry out of combos in Bayonetta and Transformers Devastation, and some of them have super armor as well. That doesn't stop you from juggling to an extent.

i will when people have actually had enough time to master the game

you sound like the type of faggot who expects high level play from a fighting game that came out a week prior

I sympathize with this argument because I do remember people being dismissive of Transformers and the "lack of tech" before it was slowly uncovered months and months after release, but even without having extreme depth it was still possible to do basic shit.

I'm not asking you to show me webm related with legions, just show me SOMETHING.

Attached: DMC5CE.webm (640x360, 2.07M)

We're not talking about a year long tod
Show me a fucking basic juggle

just look up any boss S+ rank why do i have to do your work

i have literally done juggles in astral chain and i'm not even good at the fucking game.

That doesn't work. If you google "Astral Chain boss S+ rank" you just get Gamespot and IGN videos that show bland combat, and I'm nowhere near cynical enough about Astral Chain to think a Gamespot reviewer has jack shit to showcase in the game.

>Final stage
>Hal outright telling you how to handle situations the game has spent 25 hours teaching you
You can really tell Platinum was told to make this their most casual game ever.

are we posting webms now?

Attached: sword bind gun arrow.webm (1280x720, 2.5M)

You've done one of a few back+forward L attacks into chain jump

Spoiler: the enemy can still attack and dodge in the air and floats to the ground. That's not what people mean by a juggle.

>retards are desperately trying to cope with the fact that they are missing out on a great game
>b-but there's not the exact kind of combo gameplay I w-want! I never play games that d-don't have it!
I thought I was autistic but this is a whole new level of retardation.
I guess you don't play professor layton before knowing if the game has the exact kind of logic puzzles you like to solve because god forbid trying something different

>auto-bind sync
Called it

I have very particular taste in action games and unfortunately, in a post-Dark-Souls landscape, I've been burned too many times by games that turned out to be no fun at all.

I own a Switch. I don't own Astral Chain. I'm still deciding. It went from a day one buy to a serious reconsideration when I learned it didn't have a jump button, since I can count on one hand the number of games ever made, in all genres, that I liked where you couldn't jump.

I just don't know user. I just don't.

Oh hey where'd that goalpost go?

youtube.com/watch?v=t71CSYYLT-4

Not everyone in this thread is playing this game with you, no one cares about your goalposts

>enemy clearly swinging while being hit
Thanks I hate it

how is the music a 10/10

Combos depend on the enemy. For example I think Akira can be relaunched infinitely.

play Automata for story. it is touching, but gameplay is fine

while I think this game has some combos I don't think this game isn't a combo heavy game at all and is more reactive

that said, I love Sword 360 sync attack

Attached: sword 360.webm (1280x720, 2.86M)

before I forget, you can slightly move around while doing the sync attack w

The beast 360 attack is the best, the fuckin dog omnislash

>mfw I only found out about spin to win after beating Noah Prime

Last piece of equipment: twitter.com/SolleksC/status/1173002544374788098

Does anyone else feel S+ is too easy to attain, at least on standard?
I'm not the best at action games but any fight that goes on long enough I'll get an S+ just because I'll sync attack, chain bind, etc. in my normal game flow and get a bunch of bonuses with no real penalty for dying or spamming items

Yeah, the ranking system is weird.

You use your legion to jump at enemies.

That is because the way this game ranks you is not like in your usual action game. I find funny how many action games veterans got completely confused by it.

I genuinely liked going back and actually dealing with all the fallout of the shit that happened
The final timed red matter challenge was dumb but everything else was interesting

From what I can tell there’s basically 2 ways to get s+. Either you beat a fight without getting touched and you’ll usually get enough points just from that to S+ or you can get it by doing a bunch of different things and getting enough points from sheer variety. I actually like the idea although there’s definitely been a few fights I didn’t think I earned the rank I got.

I don't think it's confusing so much as it almost cheapens the experience of getting an S Rank. I understand why im doing well in AC because I can read what the bonuses are for but I know in Bayo or DMC the guy getting an SSS or platinum or whatever is putting in more time and effort than me when I get a silver or worse. AC even gives you points for whiffing attacks, fucking up dodges, and spamming medecine for crying out loud

the Perfect Dodge variation is better, but I love Maximum Doggo

spin to win is pretty good against a crowd of mobs, otherwise I use Gravity Bomb into Crash Bomb into Axe 360 Sync Attack for maximum damage and fps drops

Attached: maximum doggo.webm (640x360, 1.16M)

>AC actually has HENSHIN.
>Fusion HENSHIN in top of that.
Neat.

Kill yourself

And the best part is seeing how you hardcode cuhraizee players get triggered to no end by it.

Good girl!

It's easy, until it isn't.

Attached: this_is_not_okay.jpg (1280x720, 167K)

>get 10000 points exactly
>still counts as an S
fuck the pain away

This is actually a bullshit mission but it's because you don't have access to any tools to bump your score up

The game is good but you're trying way too hard.

It's got the traditional requirement of somehow doing it perfectly with no damage, and also doing it fast. Sucks so hard in Pt Ultimate because your Legion takes damage from bumping against anything.

Attached: perfect_platinum.jpg (1280x720, 160K)

It's really, really good.

How do you get that sync attack? 360 input w/ melee attack to trigger it?

Attached: 1567795176698.jpg (640x478, 74K)

Not him but that's pretty clunky. For one it's difficult to get the Legion up there in the first place, then whether pressing ZL will pull you up there or the Legion towards you is anyone's guess

360 ZR, Sync Attack
Sword Legion, any weapon

With your Sword legion, yes. Pretty sure your baton needs to be upgraded to a certain degree.

360 melee sync attack, then keep hitting regular attack to extend the combo.

holy shit literally all but 1 are trash
just drop them all and play Astral Chain
jesus christ

Thanks. Funny thing is I've been doing it but didn't know you have to keep mashing attack to extend it.

Attached: 1565621491296.jpg (1200x1200, 457K)

Yeah, they don't give any indication. Almost all of the regular gun combos are the same.

>2 seconds of the combo at the start invalidates the minute long combo

it's easily on the same level as bayonetta

it's not "fall to your knees and cry at how eargasmic it is" like nier automata but it's all really good.

the vocal themes get a little too upbeat though, imo

Auto bind sync is a full half of the webm

factually incorrect. the webm is an 18 second combo and the chains break at 6s

they are still combos of moves linked together whether the enemy moves or not i don't know what is so hard to grasp about this. nobody likes that enemies can sometimes just attack anyway. it is probably one of the most criticized things besides the shitty dodge button

>they are still combos of moves linked together whether the enemy moves or not
I don't think you know what a combo is

i'm probably going to be most impressed at any webms/vids of this game that can just do cool stuff without taking damage to be honest. that "unscathed bonus" is the most distinguished honor the game can give you at the end of a chapter. you need next level prescience to dodge some of these attacks

moves chained together without pausing

it isn't the fault of the people doing the combos that enemies can sometimes just fucking hit you anyway. that's an obvious design flaw of the game. it's kind of ridiculous to be honest, right up there with letting enemies hit you out of sync attacks which is the absolute stupidest shit in the world.

I assume without cheesing with gravity bomb/howl + Axe 360?
youtube.com/watch?v=N0YBdLFpZMM

Is there any online content only? Co-op or pvp maybe?

>moves chained together without pausing
No, that is a string or sequence
A combo is a series of moves where landing the first hit guarantees the rest of the sequence.

this is the one time where i wanted to hear about DLC right near launch, as a motive to do the 71 extra missions you get in postgame.

what are we playing? an action game or a fighting game?

enemies can super through shit sometimes, there is nothing people can do about that, i will still acknowledge the game's combos because i am aware enemies can do that, which as i said is a bad thing about the game, like being hit out of SAs. if enemies could not move until they were finished being struck you could do this stuff with more safety is all.

it's not bayonetta but it's also not really trying to be

Being vulnerable during sync attacks makes perfect sense. They're heavy attacks, not QTEs.

>being punished for activating your reward moves for skilled play makes perfect sense

Attached: 1568406704471.png (909x858, 627K)

>Game hands sync attacks out like candy after every finisher no matter what
>Reward move for skilled play
What a fucking scrub.

>every Platinum game on a Nintendo system = OH MY GOOD SO GOOD GOTY XDDD

>every platinum exclusive game on a Nintendo system = REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

>reward moves
You're being dumb.

I kinda feel you. I got to File 8 and haven't had much interest in picking it up again. What burned me out was trying to do absolutely every single side quest there was in the world (which was murder for File 5) and now the retarded mini-games in File 8 just put me off. I know I'm basically near the finishing line but bleh.

Meant the side quests in File 6. fug.

I wish there would be more costumes. And it's a shame you can only costumize the Police uniform.

Sold out in the three wooping vidya stores there are in this shithole like a week and a halfh ago and i not even sure if they are going to sell it again

This isn't a cheap get out of jail for free card, stop thinking the game should give you a crutch.

I hope astral chain 2 ditches the silent protag
It was a really terrible idea.
I would also like the finishing moves to not happen as a cutscene.

I've never liked a Platinum game. Not one. And I refuse to play any game with stupid rankings because it's inevitability autism bait. I don't understand how anyone can like the sloppy mess Platinum always puts out. They control like shit, they look like shit, and without fail the story is shit.

They literally do. Hidden case in chapter six. When the thin man whatever his name is runs off after you rescue him you can walk across the bridge and use some Arm Legion platforms to get there.

Attached: tenor (2).gif (300x200, 189K)

Thank you for adding your valuable opinion to this Platinum thread. Surely the seconds you spent typing this out haven't been wasted.

You that insecure about a game telling you how you did?

Dodge again you double fucking nigger.

>wait for the game to stop telling me to hit L2
>dodge again
>second dodge has no iframes
>get hit
Cool game

Btw the answer is "change to beast/arm because those syncs are invincible for some reason"
But then you'll just whiff your syncs instead of being interrupted

Sounds like a classic case of get good to me.

>has no iframes
Dodge away from the attack you fucking fool.

I just got axe legion and went to mess around and noticed I never did evasion in training. How tight is the window for perfect dodging? I keep thinking I have it but it won't give it to me?

I dodge and time slows down and it let's me sync attack. Does that not count?

Ooh, sorry, you didn't click l3 to run so you don't have the distance
Once again for the slow: the answer was using arm or beast legion

>sneaking with HAL
>manage to get everyone but the two guards right next to eachother
>if I get one, the other just calls drones

help

When it first starts? I can't seem to find where

For fuck's sakes stop blaming your shit playstyle on the game and git gud, if you need to use beast/arm dodge immunity as a crutch don't complain when they whiff.

Holy shit, has anyone beat Noah Prime on Pt Ultimate yet?

Chain the two at the same time, don't tell me you didn't know you could chain up to three targets.

Send out arrow legion, wrap it around them normally instead of using a stealth bind on one of them, that way you get two at once.

No, the answer is perfect call you retard.
Just another case of somebody not getting good and blaming the game for it.

Or don't think you can stand right next to a massive enemy forever and just infinitely punch them without ever getting punished for it.

Try either binding them while the other isn't looking or bait them closer and chain them at the same time.

Oh, I didn't even consider that...

I think I just discovered a glitch. Once you get perfect dodge+sync, you can't do that tutorial anymore. What the fuck?

I found it I jumped off the wrong ledge

>no, the answer is completely abandoning a core mechanic
A++ design
>don't think you can stand right next to a massive enemy forever
You mean any enemy for any period of time

Astral Howl is a shit action game mashed together with Nier's chip system, Eva's plot, and Blue's Clues
It's fisher-price baby times frolics

Thanks user I didn't expect the fusion dance

Can anyone test this out?

Why is hitstun against enemies so worthless and why is hitstun against me so amazing?
Why can I parry out of hitstun but not dodge out of a fucking attack, the staple of Platinum gameplay?
Why would I ever choose to get into the air when I can only stay there by continuing to attack, literally guaranteeing that I will take the enemy's biggest, slowest, most powerful attack right to my fucking face?
Why would I ever even approach an enemy without stunning or binding it, given it's literally impossible to stun or slow down 90% of them with simple attacks?
Is there some fundamental part of the game that I'm missing? Am I just shit? Please advise.

Attached: 1568334783949.jpg (1600x1299, 127K)

>using the tool you obviously didn't know existed is too hard!
COPE harder, it's hilarious to see you immediately starting to cry buzzwords once shown how every single one of your "criticisms" is retarded.

You didn't play the game, just admit it.
Everything you said is COPING you picked up on Yea Forums, otherwise you would know perfect call is a central mechanic.

It's not a great game, user.
Abuse howl and auto bind

Why are you COPING so much?

>NO NO IT'S PERFECT U DIDN'T PLAY IT YOU NEVER PERFECT CALLED OR PARRIED EVER
You sound pretty booty blasted, user. I recommend johnson and johnson no more tears shampoo.

Nice to see you abandoning pretending you played it and COPING openly now.

COPE harder, it's hilarious to see you immediately starting to cry buzzwords once shown how Astral Chain isn't 100% perfect.

I want to say Axe has something similar for when you've got the gladius equipped.

>shown to be retarded.
>REEEEEEE! Stop telling me to actually play the game!
Why are you COPING so much?

>COPE COPE COPE
COPE harder, it's hilarious to see you immediately starting to cry buzzwords once shown how Astral Chain isn't 100% perfect.

That's gonna be a yikes from me.
I"ll just hold off for a sale and replay Three Houses

Holy fucking shit, you're both incredibly obnoxious. I asked questions about the game, hoping to improve, and both of you just lumped it into your retarded fucking argument.

You're not missing anything, faggot, the game is a mess

Shut the fuck up. Platinum is a competent developer, they wouldn't ship something this bad. There's got to be a strategy other than "stay as far away as possible and pray".

You have like a half dozen defensive options, use them. It's like W101, enemies aren't just punching bags, there will be distinctive openings.

I'm already DOING that, the issue is that even against big slow enemies, I can only seem to use my fastest options safely. You know, on account of not being able to cancel my own animations. Do I just have to Perfect Call even more?

Have you been practicing Perfect Calls? The dog legion's L makes you invincible against most things as well.

You play astral chain for it's weeb universe.
You end up staying for astral chain's unique combat. No other game right now has it's kind of combat system. Not super complex but man does it let you tinker around with how you can mix and match so many different attacks.

>Platinum is a competent developer
The director is the designer for Nier Automata
The lead designer was the lead for fucking Korra
Their focus was not Platinum standard combat, it was story and accessibility.

Why is bayonetta always depicted as a rapist when she's in the same room with another video game character?

>it's like w101, there are distinctive openings
That is a fucking lie.
W101 was full of setups and juggles as rewards for using charge X or gun stinger or a counter. It's nothing like Astral Chain.

Again: abuse howl and parry/perfect call. This is not Bayonetta and thinking it's on that level will only continue to frustrate you.
Lower your expectations and turn off your brain

With the exception of the beast enemies, everything is should be very reactable.

That'd be great if dodge cancelled attacks but it buffers instead

>praises juggles
>calls anything braindead
LOL, juggling enemies was always a braindead crutch for making enemies a non issue to the player.

Maybe don't spam the attack button and be more careful.

I got 24500 points on lappy ballon
Why do I get the feeling that just 500 more points would have given me a ranking up

It literally does cancel your attacks.

>literally shitting on W101 to defend Astral Chain
Does anything else even need to be said?

I never said it wasn't reactable, I said that the openings between attacks are too short for me to use my slower options even against slower enemies, most of the time.
Thanks, I guess that helps.

Juggling is a crutch mechanic in any game and only lowers the skill ceiling.
Prove me wrong.

You have dodge offset for a reason.

Go for 30,000 or you're a fucking casual.
> requires a ton of execution skill to keep one or a few enemies out of your hair in a genre where there are likely to be several more
That's... that's a bayonetta thing. I can't cancel out of attacks in this game.

Making an enemy a non issue still lowers the skill ceiling by allowing you to disable the most powerful/dangerous enemy at any moment.

Juggling was a crutch in DMC in will always remain one.

Juggling an enemy requires more skill than dodging it in 99.99% of cases.

Yeah this game came out of nowhere is probably GOTY for me now. I didn't get the hang of the combat system until the final boss when it all clicked and I realized what I had been missing. The game is so fucking good and the fact that they put in all those post-game missions knowing full well that unless you were playing on Ultimate you probably weren't taking full advantage of everything the game had to offer in combat was a great idea. The story is unadulterated anime but it's great because of how unapologetic it is.

Attached: 1331786414876.jpg (411x250, 77K)

But juggling is also significantly more powerful than dodging in the damage output department.

Especially in games with more limited dodges in a row.

file 12 is bloody palace

All of my fucking lol
Even if you're lucky and the buffered dodge doesn't come out too late, properly dodging then attacking makes you do that terrible barrel roll kick that makes you ultra vulnerable and does no damage

> juggling is significantly more powerful
THAT'S BECAUSE JUGGLING IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT, DIPSHIT.
The most difficult thing about any given combo system should be keeping a juggle going.
ERGO, it should also be the most rewarding.
What do you want out of a juggle, no damage, just stun on one enemy?

The way your character moves and attacks is a bit awkward, but not bad.

The way the enemies behave and attack is a bit awkward, but not bad.

The problem is that the two don't match at all. The enemies feel like they're from a totally different game

>help the passionate man in file 10
>he runs away after a gate appears
>finish the case
>find him again
>he ran away to another spooky spot
Is this another red case? I'm missing two cases but I cleared everything that was on the map. All I know for sure is that I'm missing the fog red case but that one is supposed to be last.

Not him but the sync combo after binding continues even after chains break, it's highly noticeable when you bind an enemy multiple times because the bind duration decreases. The chain sync attack doesn't stop until the knock up 9-10 seconds in

If a combo system trivializes everything by easy infinitely stunning combos, it's not nearly as hardcore as people pretend it is.

Constantly rewarding the player with the ability to trivialize an enemy is not actually a good thing.

You seem to assume that juggling is either easy or nonexistent.
Have you considered the third option of "possible, but difficult"? You know, like most games have it?

It's never nearly as hard as people pretend it is, once you have the rhythm to it down.

"Not as hard as you think" is not the same as "easy". And once again, the average juggle requires a lot of attention on whatever enemy you're juggling, in a game where there are likely to be multiple.
Don't pretend an option is overpowered just because you're really good at it, user.

You're arguing with a retard

You can also manually control it like a beyblade.

Yes, there's another gate right next to him in the second spot. After that I think he's gone for good though. You have to find a fracture in another part of the map and follow the trail to the gate.

There aren't going to be combo videos for this game. It doesn't matter. Everyone arguing about this is retarded. It is blatantly NOT a combo-focused game. Like I don't understand how you could play action games and go UGH ASTRAL CHAIN SUCKS IT HAS NO COMBOS and then the other guy goes UGH YOU SUCK THERE ARE TOTALLY COMBOS and both completely miss the point.

Astral Chain is a situation-based action game. It's similar to Bayo 2 or Devastation. You aren't stylish because you launch the enemy 50 feet in the air and stunlock them into a big freeform thing ending with you throwing a rose at them. You're stylish because you don't overcommit to attacks, you make use of defensive mechanics, you fight lots of enemies and defeat them efficiently, and you use correct and varied offensive techniques for the situations you're in instead of just spamming basic combos.

Launching an enemy, recalling your legion and throwing them at the enemy, chain jumping and doing an air combo is cool. No, it's not "combo video" material. Yes, it is incredibly stylish. Watching someone play an action game can be interesting and fun without them doing weird Donguri shit where they stay in the air the entire fight.

Juggles in W101 need to be earned, are difficult to maintain and are only safe on the final enemy of a group.

I found it. They hid the analyze spot under a dumpster so that my IRIS couldn't show it.
Did the fox monster really eat the guy?

>it's like bayo 2 or devastation
If you stripped away their string variety, responsiveness, and charm.

This.

There's plenty of string variety, it just isn't explicitly handed to you via a pause menu input list.
It's plenty responsive, you just can't cancel everything into everything.
It's plenty charming. It honestly feels like Xenoblade X to me, which is a great thing.

So are there any twists, turns or absolutely crazy moments in Astral Chain? I just hit chapter 9 and while I like it everything seems pretty tame by platinum standards

You're reaching the point where almost everything about the plot/lore and its characters are completely forgotten and left unexplained in favor of a shitty ripoff twist.

Maybe a little bit. Keep going.

Nothing batshit crazy, honestly.

fuckin please, that shit was telegraphed from the start by virtue of being a japanese cyberscifi setting, welcome to neo evanghostintheshell

I'm still mad at Jena's character being completely undeveloped and unexplained.

>shitty ripoff twist
the intro where yoseph talks about needing to evolve past humanity kind of precludes "we must evolve into a new form of life" from being a twist dude

final boss

dropped
I don't play video games with gay bald main character. Fuck off faggots.

It's not really unexplained though. What'd you think we needed to know?

Finally got S+ on Pt Ultimate. Good lord that entire last file was crazy.

How did she stop aging and obtain superpowers without redshifting?
How did she create artificial chimeras and homunculi (and what are the homunculi), and in the astral plane to boot?
What was her plan? It doesn't make any sense. From her actions and what she says in some dialogues it's like she wants everyone to become chimeras and let the astral plane absorb the Earth, but then she says she wants everyone to remain individual and human, in contrast to Yoseph's plan.

Literally nothing is explained about her besides "she worked at ARI but disappeared 20 years ago and now she wreaks havoc for no reason".
You spend a bunch of files chasing her and fighting her homunculi without any actual plot development, and everytime you get to her all she says is "I am right and the good guy here and you don't understand it but you will".

How did you get around the Legion damage thing? Is the Unscathed bonus worthless in Ultimate?

Her plan was to kill Yoseph and let the Astral Plane consume everything. That's it. She's just trying to stop instrumentality, and she thinks that being archived in the Astral Plane is the natural course of events. Her entire plan is to unleash the homunculus as a diversion to kill Yoseph.

As for the rest of it, this is hand-wavy, but since she worked at ARI and was involved in the pandemic (when she disappeared), some fucked science thing must've happened to her and she can make homunculus because science.

> how did she stop aging and obtain superpowers without redshifting?
Extreme genetic self-experimentation, most likely. The Homunculi are immune to redshift, and in fact absorb it.
> How did she create artificial chimeras and homunculi
> (and what are the homunculi),
> and in the astral plane to boot?
She never made artificial chimeras to my knowledge
Homunculi appear to be based upon the knowledge that created legions, artificial or modified astral-plane-borne creatures that feed on the same type of data, but are "carnivores", so to speak, rather than herbivores with a capture instinct
Dunno what this last part means so I'm ignoring it

Jera's plan:
> Improve humanity so that each individual can stand up to chimerae and redshift, keeping them individual at great cost
This contrasts Yoseph's plan, in that Yoseph just wanted to take control of the astral plane and THEN let it consume everyone, essentially.

Don't listen to .

>She never made artificial chimeras to my knowledge
I meant creatures like poison/laser pods, the kamikaze bugs and the homunculi.

>Dunno what this last part means so I'm ignoring it
Enemy logs state that Jena created them in the astral plane and she brought them to the Ark.

>spoiler
That's what I thought as well, but the game throws a lot of contradictory clues and points, and her repetitive dialogue and actions throughout most files doesn't help either.

I thought the laser pods were either stated to be technically homunculi or just "made by Jena". But maybe.
Well, then, that part seems obvious. They're compatible with redshift, so they probably were born in an environment full of it.
What kind of contradictory clues, user? The part where she tells you your power is a curse? I thought that was just implying she thought any interaction with a chimera, including a legion, would more or less sign your soul over to the astral plane

Ranking isn't any harsher than Pt Standard, so you don't need Unscathed in most fights. There's just a couple of shorter ones and boss fights (notably fused Akira) where it seems to be required. But I was generally trying to perfect call everything, so at that point the Legion's not taking damage anyway.

Attached: king_lappy.jpg (1278x710, 201K)

>Improve humanity so that each individual can stand up to chimerae and redshift, keeping them individual at great cost
Where do you see any evidence of this? She didn't make blue evolve, Yoseph did.

>S+ on everything
Jesus. I haven't tried Pt Ultimate or replayed any file, but do you have to get S+ on every single red and blue case in a single run or does it always keep your best score in each individual case?

It just keeps your best score so it's extremely lenient. There's a couple very difficult cases though.

Man, I love this game.

I can't even S+ the Fused Akira on Standard. Well done.

blue evolve was designed to fail and turn people towards the Astral Plane

Big HENSHIN fight but if Jena's final form didn't do it for you, you might not care about the rest

Yooka Laylee is trash, ditch it

Oh wait I missed up 10 with 9.

Yes, but the point of it was to test fusing humans and chimera, which was what Yoseph needed to do for his plan.

Same here i really enjoy the bosses but man the side cases just burnt me out

That's a huge relief. I hadn't tried it yet because I thought you could lose 1-2 hours of progress over a single mistake.
What about the final red cases in each file, like Fused Akira? If you end the fight and you don't get a S+, do you have to repeat everything from the start of the file?

And Jera's plan was to take the premise (merge humans and chimera) and turn it into something that wouldn't ultimately get humans absorbed into the astral plane (merge humans and homunculi).

No because the File Select has very convenient chapters, you can start at different points within the file. Also, you can quit out at the ranking screen, kind of like Bayonetta. But it's consistently lenient here where the game only saves after you close the ranking screen. It's very nice.

I don't think so. Where is any evidence that she is planning to merge humans and chimera? She even says that letting the world get archived by the Astral Plane wouldn't be bad. The homunculus don't have anything to do with merging humans and chimera.

I just finished my S+ run of the second motorcycle chase.
I can't believe that they disable perfect calls but allow legions.

>trying to take pictures of the Raven's legion
>they keep swinging the fucker around or despawning it
>other Ravens keeping hitting in back of the head

Attached: 1519095908908.png (191x244, 49K)

That mission is infuriating to S+.
Out of curiosity, what Legion did you use? I found that Arrow did way more damage than everything else despite the fact that I hadn't fully upgraded it.

you can get them later in the game

Axe. I loaded it with Attack Up abilities and spammed the summon attacks. The raw damage saved me time and the legion itself blocked some attacks.
The only real problems were the chimera harpy, the giant monkey, and the arms fucker. The first two are 90% predictable and thus die very quickly. But the last one is a real bitch. He constantly made me stop attacking to dodge. And the Axe couldn't hit him if I was on his sides. My worst failures were all because of him.
>i was in the wrong spot and his fuck-you laser shaved off 1HP
>i timed out and couldn't get enough time bonus
The arm nigger cost me two hours.

I died more times to that laser than should be reasonable. I don't know what the fuck it is with that, but I couldn't ever dodge it consistently. It's insane because in Pt Ultimate, the laser is an instant kill. Eventually I won by killing him before he could fire the stupid laser.

I feel sorry for all the suckers who played as a dude and had to hear the male version of Dark Hero.

Does the male version even match up with the scene? The tempo seems a lot slower.

The bike dodge is great but it isn't enough. The laser lasts too long to dodge through or to clip through. I tried to feint to the left and dodge to the right. I figured if I could bait the laser away I could wait it out and attack while the fucker recovered. My one success happened when I got the timing for it right.
I don't think about you at all. Dark Hero is pretty shitty either way.
>answer
>savior
>cat club
>holy order of the hermits
>legion assault
These are all way better.

All of that shit is optional chief. Don't let ratings get to you.

Tempo's the same, the key is completely different though.

Now that I have the axe legion is it safe to backtrack or do I need to get some more abilities first.?

Yeah, once you get Axe, you can get everything.

Awesome.

So the Homuculus are made from legions right? iirc Jena is the only one to send proto legions after and the face of homuculi actually resemble Noah a bit and Noah is a combo critter. Then there is the whole absorbing them thing.

Buff it up a bit first. Rematches for S+ ranks will be super easy if you can land loads of beefed-up Perfect Calls. The time bonus could end up at 10K all on its own.

It's more anime than the female version so I'm fine with it.

Because the game wants you to parry attacks and remain on the defensive instead of dodging.

The dodge isn't an i-frame counter, it's a movement tool.

>shitty auto tune is now animu

I dunno dude I think that's pretty subjective.

Astral Chain is a fine experience though. Good lord, its cutscene heavy though.

In postgame Richard talks about the "continental reclamation corps" that's supposed to reclaim the continents. He even says there might be different chimeras on them.
The moon is redshifted too so that'd cool to visit.
and you only weakened the astral plane by killing Noah, it's obviously still there.

You'll have to be more specific. What do you mean getting on the platforms?

I'm talking about these places. I think these are the only areas left to clean.

When did they mention the moon?

Slide under the pipes on the other side of the second pic.

Really? I thought that move was only good for setting up back attacks.

I slide instead of crawling when the game asks for it, so I defaulted to slide. Anyway, you can get under the pipes to that area.

You take a picture of it and it ends up in the archives. You read about it then.

What's a good file to see it in?

Aaaaggh

I see now. There was a space under the pipe that I never noticed.

Finally halfway through these fucking post game missions

Someone explain how to perfect call. As if you would a retard.

Call out the legion right before you get hit. It's like the slow down dodge but with a tighter window

So he shouldn't be out at all?

Correct. It's a parry triggered by summoning it at the last second.

do you use the gladius or the baton?

Why wouldnt you use both?

I use all three depending on the situation but mostly gladius

>tfw can't S+ the first Chimera Takedown in File 04

Am I missing some trick for Aether or am I really supposed to just run around in circles on my dog the whole time until howl is ready

how many points do you need to s+ lappy baloon?

What's the cheese strat for beating Jin as Lappy? Poke him then run away and repeat it a lot?

Gungeon can be hit or miss. If you like it, it can EASILY eat away hundreds of hours (I've put in like 400) if you hate it, you'll really hate it.
Despite this I highly recommend it.

can you use items? even if you can't do you keep the effects of an attack up if you drink it before the fight? haven't tested yet sorry

fuck off, shill

Just finished file 10 and had 3 missed red cases even though I stopped to do everything before speaking to Olive. Fuck this game. It's triggering my autism so hard

How do you get passed the lasers in the endgame missions? I'm stuck in the sewer with no way to advance. I tried swording them, shielding through them, riding through them, shooting arrows at them, and even trying to slide under. I just cant work it out.

File 04 - 2. Cross the street and head up the stairs. At the top of the stairs turn around and head towards the robots, talk to the robot again.

File 06 - 6. After shooting the platform down head towards the opening with red matter. You should see a ladder that takes you to a room with a chest, the robot, and a drone. Talk to the robot.

File 08 - 2. Head to the garage. Near the doorway to the elevators to the right is a mechanic. Go behind the cars and you'll find the robot and drone. Tall to the robot.

File 10 - 2. At the start of the file go into the hallway behind Olive. On the right wall is a hermit base. Fight the drone, go down, fight the hermits, go out, fight the hermits again and you'll see the robot and drone. Talk to them and you'll get the Stylish Helmet item.

I take it you never met Shizu.

>It's the facemask mook helmet I wanted
I'M COMING FOR YOU!

Press ZL when you would normally dodge.

To everyone it may concern, the webm is definitive proof that there is some sort of primitive juggling in Astral Chain. You gotta attack an enemy when they aren't in the middle of an attack animation with an attack that sends up flying their weight class (I think), recall your legion, summon it and resend it to them so the legion's attacks keep them in the air (Sword Legion works best in my experience), and then pull yourself to them with a chain jump. I am too unskilled to see if you can do it again and again, or to see how useful this is in practice, but there's my contribution.

Attached: astral_juggle.webm (1280x720, 2.35M)

Already posted. Air combos are not juggles. The enemy can attack and dodge in the air. Thanks for playing.

I made that webm myself. I will need some sort of proof, then, that ground-based enemies you launch in the air have any way to retaliate in mid-air. Sure, the flying enemies you can't be juggled, but to the best of my knowledge, ground-based enemies enter a vulnerability phase when knocked in the air that can be extended if they are attacked. How that is not fitting into your definition of a juggle?

You're arguing with an ideologue, proof doesn't actually account for anything to them.

>. I will need some sort of proof, then, that ground-based enemies you launch in the air have any way to retaliate in mid-air
You could try playing the game.
There's also webm's of enemies dodging and attacking mid-air in the archives, but doing air combos for five seconds is enough to see an enemy attack you while being "juggled"

> to the best of my knowledge, ground-based enemies enter a vulnerability phase when knocked in the air
Your best knowledge fails you because that's just wrong.
It shouldn't be wrong, it'd be right in a good game, but alas it is wrong.

R3-A3 is a fucking disgusting mission, whose idea was it to pair 3 boss enemies and have them be so aggressive.

I have been testing a bit more in the training room. Specifically with the Power and Greatsword sparring options. It seems Power chimeras cannot be juggled at all, being attacked while knocked in midair does nothing to halt their fall. Greatsword chimera did something in-between, instead slowly falling despite being constantly hit, almost as though "floating". So, yeah, I don't think juggling is a full-fledged mechanic in this game, it seems to affect only a very limited subset of enemies.

Anyone got the pastebin for the cosmetics?

I liked how the end of the game was The Tower from Automata but actually fun this time.

Why is there no hitstun
Why is howl the only way to be aggressive
Why do the enemies feel like they're from a completely different game

Because it's not a cuhrazy action game, it's an action RPG. Also I have no idea what the hell you're talking about with
>Why do the enemies feel like they're from a completely different game
You're perfectly equipped to deal with every enemy in the game.

Howl is great but you don't need to rely on it as a crutch. There is hitstun, but it's enemy-dependent and most of the time your basic attacks don't inflict a significant amount because enemies have lots of super armor on attacks. Even on heavier enemies though, you can create openings. For example, Arms chimera which seem to have super armor on fucking everything can get launched by perfect call Arms Legion's counter attack, which knocks them down and leaves them vulnerable for a while. So then the way to be aggressive is mash ZR with your Legion out, switch weapons if you think you're going to finish your string at the same time an attack comes out to keep your basic attacks going, then recall and perfect call to get a knockdown, and then go town.

>So then the way to be aggressive is mash ZR with your Legion out, switch weapons if you think you're going to finish your string at the same time an attack comes out to keep your basic attacks going, then recall and perfect call to get a knockdown, and then go town
Ok let's try this
>perfect call with arm
>use sync attack
>enemy dodges out of sync attack because you're full of shit and the only stuns in this game are chain bind and howl
>hits me
Thanks I hate it

Attached: 1393455088360.gif (500x275, 385K)

Sounds like you need to get good and stop cryingf sync attacks aren't a crutch for your lack of skill

Nice response, A+ coping
The game's mediocre at best and the enemy design/AI is fucking terrible, like they just ripped that shit straight out of Bayo 2 with no thought to the game's differences.

>Immediately starts COPING and crying buzzwords

You claimed you know it will miss but still insist in your own fantasy that you would use it anyway.
Why do that?

So even in your own scenario, only your own lack of skill is shitting on you

>You claimed you know it will miss
You may have brain damage

Gaaaah....

Noah Core is a fucking pain in the ass..

How the fuck do you fags beat it? Noah Core is the second stage of the File 11 boss, after the giant Noah

Why are you COPING about being shit at this game?
Is it the shame?

Just constantly do hit rushes and avoid its big attacks. When it closes up run around and use arrow legion to hit its eyes.

When you beat that and get to Noah Prime use howl to stun for some damage then sit on the invincible dog until howl is back

When you beat that return the game and get your money back

This is getting sad, user.

Attached: hilarious.gif (320x180, 153K)

My bad, it was power chimera, not arms.

Hang on I'll make a webm of it. The point is that howl/chain bind don't have to be the party starter.

You are the one crying like a little cuck about a game you claim to hate.

>The point is that howl/chain bind don't have to be the party starter
but it really seems like they do. Nothing else gives a real stun and hitstun doesn't exist - enemies can and will attack while being hit unless they have stars above their head, meaning howl or tendon cut or chain bind

>can't read
>KEK
>COPE
Shouldn't you be in day care, kiddo?

Maybe if you had some skill, you would know you are wrong.
If you need to stun enemies every time you want to engage, you must really be shit at it

sure thing internet tough guy, I'm glad you're enjoying fisher price stando adventure

Anyway to stop the constant circle barrier bullshit that he keeps doing? I mean, the barrier that he puts around me that one shot kills if I let it close completely on me. I know how to avoid it killing me, but he does it so fhcking frequently that it makes it just annoying and not fun.

Honestly thinking of just dropping the difficulty to casual. This almost isn't worth the headache..

>Anyway to stop the constant circle barrier bullshit that he keeps doing?
Not really, you just have to hit the things to break it every time.

Noah's fights are pretty goddamned tedious.

>can't refute it
>starts COPING by buzzwords again
LOL, good job proving me right.

If you constantly need 100 percent safe setups, you are a low skill shitter.

Don't listen to that retard, just use lock on + sending out sword and you can destroy the barrier in five seconds.
It's extremely fast.

Here's an example of continually attacking into perfect call for a knockdown. Power's vulnerable for a good while so you can do whatever combo (or string if you prefer) and then also howl or chain bind while they're down to extend.

No, but I was able to kill him fast enough that he only did it once in Pt Ultimate. It is a legitimate problem that your character locks onto the pylons outside of the barrier though, every time you attack you'll magnetize to them and get yourself hit on the barrier. Best approach I found for that fight was just to always have a Legion out Hit Rushing, and to perfect call the projectiles he shoots instead of dodging them.

>don't listen to that retard, just do exactly what he said to do

Attached: csKJtxk.gif (640x360, 1.78M)

>use arrow to hit its eyes.
Literally not what I said, are you actually brain damaged?
Arrow is objectively slower here that sword, and what you said implied actually using either arrow's manual fire or the auto fire, both of which are much slower.

Stop posting about your low skill play, maybe you will stop embarrassing yourself.

>Looking through Art book after beating the game
>Get to page of all the advertisments that were scattered in game
>There's a pretty cure styled cop anime on the Ark
This game runs on soul and autism I fucking love it. This and DMC V have made this year fantastic for video games for me. I really hope we'll get Astral Chain 2. I already want more of this game.

Attached: Having a wonderful time.png (394x526, 180K)

You can actually see that in-game. It's occasionally on TV screens and I think there's a poster of it in the prison?

>retard can't tell the difference between noah's armor and his circle bind
I'm done with you

Looking at how long it was in the Eshop charts and how platinum praised it as a success, I think we can pretty much assume it's the best selling game platinum made for Nintendo.
That together with Taura being interested in making a trilogy, a sequel does seem quite likely.

>I mean the barrier that he puts around me
What did you COPE about?

>no combos
>no tech to find
>game is 80% filler
>even plat fanboys are shitting on it
Ded gaem

COPE harder

That's my line.
Do you know what that word means?

Yes, and one person pathetically COPING and crying while he pretends people don't love this game is the definition.

So no, you're using words you don't understand as a way to cope

>meanwhile in the actual Platinum Games thread nearly everyone loved it
Also why does every Platinum Games thread die off so fast? Aren't they supposed to be /ourstudio/? What happened, bros?

>why do plat games threads die so fast
Because they haven't put out a good game in half a decade

I'm going to need some advice. Just playing the R3 missions in file 12 would obliterate me. How did you get by on the hardest difficulty? Thank you
still trying to figure out Jena myself. Some guy made a video about her at youtube.com/watch?v=n5mHjUZnwRI&t=6s
Pointed out that Yoseph wanted to evolve humanity (through his selfish Noah project).
Jena wants to save humanity (and remain as they are now).
The big issue for the guy is why would Jena try to kill your twin, only to save the twin later, it doesn't make sense. Best he could come up with was Jena saw the twins as a last hope once one of them did a fusion for the first time.

Still not clear to me how Jena wanted to save humanity (does that include changing people into half aberations/chimeras?), or how her plans with humuncolus does anything but wreck the city. At one point she is not against humanity returning to astral plane ("when you think of it that way it doesn't seem so bad does it?"), but elsewhere seems against it ("we have a future as we are").

Also not clear how Jena came about the way she is. Video author says she was taking weekly doses of Yoseph's redshift "medicine", but no way that's feasable. If people in Zone 09 took those meds & never ended up like Jena, they went to full aberations. She must have a different origin for her abilities, she can cahnge back human after transforming (like twins do after Fusion) or just altering some body parts. She also has similar glowing veins on her face when she's "powered up" like the twins have, but hers are more linear/crsytal like, wheras twins are more organic like veins. She stopped aging. She uses Astral Plane like it's a safe laboratory, controls proto legions without a legionnos wrist machine
...so much I'm not getting because the story is so minimal, but it's like it's so close but just out of reach

Attached: Jena_Statement.jpg (1316x2924, 655K)

I'm not watching the video, but applying Occam's Razor I get She says
>we have a future as we are
or something to that effect because if they stay the course and don't try to evolve humanity into gods, then the Astral Plane consumes everything, which in her mind is natural and has already happened before twice, and humanity is still around so it's "fine."

I swear to god if Platinum made a casual cooking game you would still end up fighting a boss fight the size of a city in it.

Jena literally did nothing wrong.

It'd turn into Iron Chef halfway through and the final enemy would be mutant Chairman Kaga who's absorbed the souls of all seven of the chefs.

Does that happen in their licensed shit too?

I have no proof of this but I'm guessing that 20 years ago Jena was aware of Yosephs plan and disagreed with him. He somehow got her sent to the astral plain where instead of becoming a chimera she retained most of herself while kinda becoming a part of the astral plain. So her whole understanding of the astral plain being this strange void where matter goes and comes from and why she is still fighting for the astral plain to engulf the world and all of humanity is due to her merging with it. After she gets beaten out of her ultimate form she seemed to be a lot more human so maybe that was the power of the astral plain weakening their control of her.

So is there a specific condition to break through enemies' super armor to be able to launch them and such? The game never really tells you.

>that mostly prevents combo depth by locking your actions in specific situations
Nothing wrong with that, "free form" games that just have a basic combo and then special moves you use at any time almost always boil down to spamming your one most damaging attack over and over.

>30 fps

One thing I don't get about the game is why in the blue hell wasn't my character allowed to talk? Akira kept talking for him in cutscenes and it made no sense. Did he take a vow of silence or some shit?

>COPE

All your shitposting only proves that the game is a success.

Director trying to make it easier for self-insert fags. Didn't work out very well.

how new to JP games are you
I personally cant stand protagonist that talk

Like the other guy said, self insert
But the reason it didn't work out so well is that feMC and male Akira are so blatantly more canon

I like it in some games. Like I'd never want Link to talk. It just doesn't really work in this super dramatic anime cop story.

FeMC comes off a bit better without saying anything but it's still weird.

There's also the fact that the female vocals for Dark Hero are way fucking better.
And Akira's arc makes WAY more sense if he's a guy.

Yeah it was really weird

This isn't my first silent protag user but the difference is having someone talking for you all the time with no option of input from yourself. Usually in these types of situations you'd have some form of system in place to pick responses voice or unvoiced but we didn't even have that. My character just nodded and never said a word, even as his sister was being shot by a Legion at the end.

>feMC and male Akira are so blatantly more canon
I'd honestly disagree. The turmoil over the clones, how she acts when her father is gone, all female RAVEN's, it feels like it was all made for her while her brother plays the typical strong silent support type.

contrarianism is a disease, user

The overall arc about trying to be strong and work things out on his own, the sudden soft side when it comes to cats, the identity crisis over being the only one of himself, it feels more natural with male Akira. Plus, again, female Dark Hero is best Dark Hero.

>All those games

Please tell me you didn't buy all those games user. If not, I'd say, from what I've heard/played, just play
>Ori
>Hallow Knight
>Hotline Miami 1
>Nier
>Divinity
>Maybe Celeste

SNES games you can always just hop in and out.

Eh, a song is irrelevant to me. Personally fem Akira fits best ain't nothing changing my mind with that one.

Gotta agree with the other guy. Although yeah I agree female dark hero is the superior one I think fem Akira works better.

Hal was the original leader of the Hermits right?

Could they possibly have beaten us over the head with that any more?
I still think it was a neat story detail, though.

Agree 100%.

Those are all things that I think work way better with the guy. Especially the way he thinks he needs to live up to his father, and the female Raven armor doesn't look nearly as good. The problem is that he doesn't come across like a strong silent type, he comes off like a total autist. MC spends so much of the game being smacked around and failing to protect people.

Like I said it's irrelevant to me. I like the female Ravens, her freak out over the clones was good, all of the ending, and the cat argument doesn't work when you're going there all the time to feed them. It was also nice seeing a daughter wanting to live up to the father instead of the typical son.

How hard is it to get into this game if I have never played a dante or beyonet or any kind of beatem up game before? Are the combos complicated?

Reminder that feMC/mAkira is patrician taste

Very easy. It's a low execution kind of game.

Definitely pretty easy.

>All thus debate over who Is the "canon" MC.
Since when you all became /vp/tards? Splatoon never had these bullshit debates.

That's because splatchads have a brain between them and can tell at a glance

What kind of COPE is that?

What the fuck are you talking about? With Splatoon 1 nobody ever bought out the "who is the canon MC?" And Splatoon 2 allowed the player to choose who was Splatoon 1 MC. I hope AC2 allows that too so you fucking /vp/tards get BTFO.

Man why didn’t they put the legatus at the hip or something. It looks like a shitty sling bag. I can’t be fashionable with this

Because in Splatoon I'm pretty sure Nogami just said 'we consider the female Inkling to be the main one.'

Bump.

Big spoiler Marie isn't the real Lappy it was all a diversion to hide the real one

Guess it's because of the X-Baton holster. Your character has a lot of crap on them.

Marie is lappy, but there are multiple maries
