...aaaand dropped. Are MGSfags genuniely braindead? How the fuck can you call a game where pic related happens smart or well written?

The whole series is neither. There are certainly shining moments here and there, but overall it's capeshit tier writing with gonzo stupid bullshit that you can only like if you're 12 or occupy a similar mental space.

18 years to the party my friend

The story of this series reads like the ramblings of a /pol/ schizo, everything that ever happens is orchestrated by a shadowy group trying to unite the world through globalism. Ofcourse the retards on Yea Forums like it.

I don't think anyone here denied that Metal Gear's plot was fucking incomprehensible.
It's actually even dumber. He's lying to you. The arm does not actually possess him, he's just hypnotized himself to think that it does in order to "fool" the Patriots.

Zoomer thread? Zoomer thread.

It's not incomprehensible. Just dumb.

Imagine being older than 15 and still defending the shit writing of this series

Imagine being a zoomer lmao

He's not. That's MGS2, where he's still possessed.
He's only lying in 4, after he has replaced Liquid's arm.

MGS4 isn't canon.

Haha. If you actually understood the story you’d know what’s happening. Typical noob with no imagination lmao

So Ocelot used that arm to jerk off, right?

Its hokey Saturday-morning GI Joe nonsense with moments of sentimentality, spirituality, philosophy, and genuine emotion as well as some of the corniest shit ever. There isn't anything else quite like it and the MGS franchise will always be one of my favorites.

Good execution can carry a ridiculous story. The plot is convoluted and over the top constantly, but the hammy performances, the anime-tier action, and typically killer OSTs carry the series much farther than it's plot. Either way, Yea Forums has shit opinions and I think OP is a bit too young to appreciate it, so whatever floats your faggy boat.

I'm 25

>Kojima is pretentious
>Kojima is campy

Can't have it both ways, pick one

Ocelot was a master of playing pretend. Thats all he does. He's a triple secret agent, pretending to be a russian kgb agent working for the cia pretending to be a cowboy while working for 2 separate mercenary companies and brainwashing himself into believing and forgetting things.
He's just goofin around in 4.

You might want to read Illuminatus! some day.

>How the fuck can you call a game where pic related happens smart or well written?

Nobody has ever called MGS "smart" or "well written"

fnord

Did you not play MGS1?

I would argue that MGS2 is actually pretty smart, just in more of a meta sense concerning what people expect a sequel to be. Also the fact that the Patriots were proven to be completely right. All things considered, and with the story completed, Solidus was a great character as well.

I feel genuinely sorry for people who didn't ride the MGS hype train since at least MGS1. The trailers, the ruses, the meltdowns, the twists, the turns, the disappointments, the TECHNOLOGY, and so on.

MGS was so much more than the games.

you're a brainlet if you think it's incomprehensible

You don't? There's even an in universe explanation as to why that happens, so it's not just some random thing

In the Tanker he was actually possessed, due to him being the son of The Sorrow. But after the Tanker he got the arm replaced with the robot arm we see in MGS4 and just pretends to be possessed.

I'm 29. I've played every MGS except 5. I love the series for how it plays but the writing is literal DC universe level stupidity for kids.

Liquid Ocelot is literally just like Venom Snake. If you have no issue with Venom Snake, you shouldn't have an issue with Liquid Ocelot.

>In the Tanker he was actually possessed, due to him being the son of The Sorrow
Thats just bullshit Kojima tried to pull after the fact. Pic related is from the MGS2 artbook, and clearly shows Ocelot with a robotic arm.

Venom Snake IS the player, both figuratively and literally.

They are both brainwashed into thinking they are another person. Also both have robot arms, but that doesn't matter.

You do realize what concept art is right? Also that's just the hand anyway.

It's because you're taking it at face value.Kojima is a shit-assed writer when it comes to dialogue and definitely over-rated but MGS2's plot isn't good because the dialogue is well constructed or the plot makes sense of face value on a moment to moment basis. What you're feeling is exactly what the game wants you to be feeling at this point.

>just the hand
Look at the arm sketch above the hand. Unless you to have seams and bolts on your forearm and bicep.

What I mean is that Venom Snake was always meant to be a proxy for the player in a meta sense (Kojima ruse). You were somebody who thought that they were Big Boss and were able to accomplish things just as great as the 'real person' (the player). The fact that you can see your proxy's avatar in the reflection on the window right at the start of the game gave it away to anybody paying attention. Also the cover of that Bowie song (ie. a proxy of the real thing).

This. It's funny seeing people trying to act like they're so above this series when they have no idea about how groundbreaking it was when they were coming out and the crazy stuff fans were spewing waiting for the next title

You know everything about what you posted isn't exclusive to MGS2 right? That shit was being predicted and written about a hundred years before the game came out, literally. Short stories in the early 1900s predicted social media, information bloat and the kind of decadence it would lead to. Granted the actual language used in MGS2's endgame is still pretty well written and I assume the translation team put in work too.

You're talking to a meme slave.

Not that user, but Ocelot's arm was originally always supposed to be robotic but Kojima changed his mind.
metalgearsolid.net/features/yoji-shinkawa-interview
>Shinkawa: Originaly, his arm was supposed to be a cyborg arm. But then I was told that his arm was Liquid's. If I were told that, I have no choice.

Kojima is just a hack who constantly retcons things.
>his arm is cybernetic.
>no, instead his arm is actually Liquid's and it possesses him!
>wait no, his arm is actually cybernetic and he just pretends to be possessed by Liquid!

...aaaand picked back up. kino.

In what way does that undermine the game, exactly? The game had a meta narrative and managed to intertwine predictions within the games universe that also applied to the real world in a manner that rides the 4th wall (turn the console off).

fag

>It's Japanese, so it must be well written and deep!
Western writing at its best gives the best Japanese writing a wedgie. It's Japanese art styles and gameplay that's superior.

In that case I'll go back to my initial point. Stories aren't immediately set in stone the moment someone has an idea, there's a lot of revising and changing that happens before it's truly finished.
Also check and again, there's also a difference between changing things in writing and building on established stories with new ones. There's a clear plot relevant reason for the arm possession and the later arm change/hypnosis both, and they don't contradict.

Heard Kojima just gathered the stuff he found in 2ch and copy pasted to his game

OP is a brainlet.

Everyone knows that Ocelot had hypnotized himself to make him believe that he had the mind of Liquid Snake because he needed hat to fool the Patriots AI somehow into giving him control of the System.
