Steals the entire stealth genre

And becomes one of the best games of all times.
Prove me wrong faggots.

And before anyone starts with Boomer memes, I'll have all know I was born in 98.

oh it shows

I was playing nba 98 on my pc when you were born, marveling the quality of the graphics of my voodoo card thinking
>this is the fucking future

It's actually amazing how most people think MGS is the best stealth game series when even Thief 3 is a better stealth game than any MGS

I always hated the modernised style of T2. It lost too much of the medieval environment the first game had. There were other thing about that game that made it feel like a poorly matching sequel. Thief Gold / TDP is still the crowning title in the franchise.

Deadly Shadows > 2 > 1

Honestly that's one of T2 biggest wins in comparasion to T1, consistency.

T1 because of a rocky development (remember the idea for the game being about stealth only came late in development), a lot times feels like a different game altogether. A good example of this is the Escape mission, that idea would be a good fit for an action game not a steatlh game.

About one third of T1 Gold missions are just disapointing, while T2 maintains a consistent level of quality from begining to end, and that quality is far superior from T1. The only mission T1 has that is better than any T2 mission is The Sword.

Weak bait
Everyone knows: 2 > 1 >>> 3

It's dead user

I want to give a defense for some of the monster levels in thief 1. But I can't

I was born in 98.

no worries we designed the instranet , kiddo 65 still gaming on FNV all good mods

What the fuck was that doing under the Opera?

98 ...will get that .

I know in my heart its probably extremely good but for some reason I started up thief 1 and just quit somewhere around the second mission i think

should probably go back to it but it just felt extremely simplistic

Gold was better

Both T1 and T2 (and to some extent T3) have the most elaborate stealth levels in any stealth game. The game is anything but simplistic.
You might wanna try T3 first since it's the most recent one, you might feel more ease with it.

Yeah, killed by Squeenix

the levels were complex but the only thing I was doing in them was crouching in shadows with zero items of any kind that I would have used, even the bow

the only exception was that I recall using the blackjack maybe once

And Thief 3 isn't even very good by Thief standards.

>starting the thread with this level of pompousness
it's like you don't want a discussion at all but just want people to argue or jerk off how great you are

Most people back then were plebs that played console games and not pc games
that's why super marios, zeldas, pokemons, final fantsys and metal gear solids are more well know frachises than dooms, system shocks, ultimas and thiefs etc etc...

That was the point.

Thief TDP is the best game in the series.

proof?

>thieves guild
>mage towers
>best game in the series

It has some good points but let's not get ahead of ourselves, T2 is better overall

No love for pic related?

It really is a fantastic game that continues the Thief legacy as it should have been.

>strong medieval setting where Thief belongs
>spookier undead levels
>storyline isn't ridiculous
>npcs / dialogue isn't ridiculous
>no robots

It's pretty great, but I don't know wich levels are worth to download

since when is T2 story ridicolous?
also T2 has more refined controls, mechanics, AI and all levels except the last one are just down right excellent while alot of T1 are just bad.
So naturally T2 > T1

Perhaps if they used a unique premise rather than a generic first person fantasy..
