yeah the problem with that is the proper reaction isn't the same as with say a snake edge
when you see a snake edge, blocking low only takes one frame, but you can't block the unblockable sweep
you need to either backdash or attack him, both of which take way longer than a simple block
not saying you can't react but it's not as easy as you think
by the time you see the mist if you aren't already doing something it's probably too late

You really just need to keep playing and get the "feel". My brain defaults to 2D a lot so I've had to run sets with my friend over and over to start unlearning that; in my experience there's two BIG things you need to have your brain unlearn when playing 3D:
>Downback as your default defensive state is VERY BAD
>When your brain thinks "backdash", there's an 80% chance you should actually sidestep
Also T7 combos are generally very formulaic for most characters:
1. Launch (a "launch" can be anything where the next hit will put the opponent airborne)
2. Pickup (how you go from a launch to a proper juggle)
3. Screw (whatever move or string you have that is best to combo into that gives you a screw)
4. Screw follow-up (usually a dashing or running attack)
5. IF they hit the wall, do either a followup attack or wait for them to slump down and do a guaranteed "opponent grounded" attack
More complex stage interactions will come later (floors, balconies, breakable walls)

King, because he’s been my main since Tekken 2 and I love wrasslan. Been picking up Lee and Miguel recently though but I haven’t popped the game in and tried season 3.

Most of the balance changes are good, most of the new moves are useful, almost everybody has more useful wallbounce combo starters (Josie's Switch Stance 4 wallbounces for example). There's some weird changes here and there but overall good.

Also you have all the preset costumes for each character unlocked by default now.

When I first played Tekken 3 on a demo disc the only characters available were like Eddie and Xiaoyu. I liked Ling because she can do a flip and have played her ever since. I've been fucking around with Steve since Tekken 4 though and like him a lot as well.

It's everything that anyone who doesn't main Geese could've hoped for. Don't listen to Katarina and Steve babies, they're just not good enough to compensate for the changes.

Everyone has new moves, various balance tweaks, new stats for online play.

I wouldn't say for an absolute beginner because Marduk has some situational moves and tools that kinda rely on you knowing how to play Tekken, but on a super-fundamental level, there's nothing wrong with learning him first.

just pick who looks cool, Tekken isn't a beginners game and you'll get shit on no matter who you pick. if you really want a "beginner" character play shaheen, kazumi, or claudio because they're simple and play regular Tekken but you have to learn the other characters eventually anyways so you may as well just pick who you want

WSAD and UI for 1 and 2 (punches), JK for 3 and 4 (kicks) is all I use. You can also use OL or what have you for shortcuts.

If you're a complete noob, pick whoever you want but don't aim for mastering high damage combos.
Learn movement, blocking, and punishing first since that's what every interaction in Tekken is about.

You're being awfully aggressive for someone who I just told their track wasn't that bad. Edge of Spring is a fine atmospheric tune, but it doesn't really move too much. It has a really driving bassline and good pulse, and I really dig the isolated piano notes, but it doesn't carry much energy despite everything going for it. It's still a beautiful track.

It may have been my fault for being aggressive about my subjective opinions on music in the first place. My bad, all. Tekken has great music throughout, and even though I dislike the Tekken Tag 2 soundtrack doesn't mean you're lesser for liking it. Just started playing 2 days ago with Xiao Yu, she's fun but I really suck at the game in general but I guess it'll take a lot of time to get good. Don't pick your character based on what you see picked at high level play. Someone won a tourney with fucking bear. Anything is possible as long as you dedicate yourself to a character you love.

Nobody played Panda at a high level either until Rangchu came out of fucking nowhere and won the world tournament with her last year. Any character is viable at a high level if you put enough time into learning a character and optimizing your game plan. Besides, season 3 just got released, and every character was rebalanced, so maybe we'll see more Shaheen players this year. Just pick who you really like and stick with them.
