Jamon York
I enjoyed the driving in this game and hope they keep it in the sequel instead of NMH2'ing it.
I got the switch version and it runs like absolute shit. What's considered the definitive version?
PC if you're lucky, otherwise xbox 360
360, preferably on the xbone.
Running like shit is part of the experience.
PC with dpfix is probably the best version
the original xbox 360 version might actually be the best which is pathetic considering how many times this game has been ported
dpfix has a ton of issues though, for me the game crashed every hour, and you can't defeat the final boss with it. just run it vanilla.
PC or 360
PC for performance/res
360 for intact effects and stability
(notice the water has no shader in the Directos cut)
Has anyone tried a sinner sandwich?
Switch owners are absolute mongoloids
I have a switch, PS4, and $2000 PC but I pirated the switch version so I could play it in bed as I'm sick as a dog today.
Xbox by far. PC runs better but:
1. It's the directors cut, and a lot of directors cut content is stupid. So stupid in fact that Origins made the right move in just removing it while just keeping some of the graphical improvements.
2. It's very crash prone. This was the era of extremely half assed PC ports. Not just "It doesn't run on my triple monitor setup!" or "Why it is locked at this framerate" but like "This is literally a barely functional version of the game".
3. The game actually looks better. Performance aside, there's a lot of visual effects that got fucked up in the port, and while they did improve some building models and the infamous rock bush, they also took out the original color grading.
What's bad about the director's cut?
it adds a bunch of cutscenes that recontextualize the story in a very dumb way and also mess with the canon
>360 version not available digitally
what the fuck? so I have to get a disc?
How is the Origins version on Switch?
is the PC version playable with tweaks or should I just skip the pain and get a used 360 copy? I always loved twin peaks but never managed to play this
ass
but your badge says Zack
nvm I readgonna go with 360 I guess
Honestly you should be fine with just about any version. Much like classic edf, running like shit is part of the experience.
It's debatable. The 360 version is less glitchy than the other versions, with some differences that set it apart. Some parts I remember used fixed camera angles, and the camera is notably closer to York than any other versions of the game. Plus some parts had a green filter to them and arguably more pleasing than the DC versions and it has difficulty settings.
PS3 and PC are the directors cut versions and have some improvements and more content with added cutscenes, however the PS3 is the worst performing version of the game, arguably looks worse than 360, and the PC version is the least stable of all versions of DP despite running the best and arguably looking the best with tweaks.
Switch is sort of Director's Cut though DC additions have been removed and IIRC the hud is now blue for some reason. But its portable and its still Deadly Premonition
>look up Deadly Premonition on Xbone
>See Price
>Sorry This offer is not valid in your region. :^)
Every fucking 360 game I want on the Xbone isn't valid in my country fuck.
This and Alan Wake.
Fuck!
It adds this weird framework of old man Francis talking to his grand daughter or something about the events of the game. It keeps going to it but it never feels like a scene that belongs there, and is probably entirely non canon because Origins removed those scenes when giving Switch the game, which is the introduction a lot of people will have.
I got very choked up over the ending. I can't believe this game managed to do that.
York is one of the best characters in any piece of media.
i liked how the PC port originally had "partial gamepad support". in most games that might mean something like, the gamepad doesn't work in the menus. for DP, it meant that literally only one part of any given gamepad would actually work. what a good game
Wait, I thought it was backwards compatible. Did they take it down suddenly?
it is
you just have to get the disc verison
I just got the platinum trophy on PS3. For the most part, it was actually pretty fun. I wish Rockstar games were this enjoyable to platinum, but I guess it boils down to the design.
I had forgotten about the Kaysen boss fight though; one of the side missions has you replay it. That chase section is the worst.
Off to my local media exchange stores then.
anyone have any cool fan art of York? I really like his character a ton.
Unironically a fucking 10/10 twist. Floored me.
To think they play it off as a fucking dumb gimmick all game, and then they just hit you with this fucking bomb in the last hour.
what the fuck?
im far in the pc directors cut and now you guys are telling me the story was changed?
Best way to play the first game? My PC is acting up. Is it on PS4 or ps3? How is the new switch port?
theres a few scenes added iirc nothing too bad
Fuck this game. Why is every version trash performance wide. Devs must actually be retarded.

Here's hoping for D4 references in Deadly Premonition 2
The cutscenes that look way better than the other cutscenes are the DX changes. It's not much. Mostly the beginning and ending bits.
the game crashing 3 times on the final boss is a feature
>old man Francis
I see what you did there.
They're all run like hot garbage that you can even consider it as one of the game feature at this point.
Steam avatar
Just for the Director's Cut exclusive cutscenes at the start and end. I'm guessing things have been changed around since it doesn't seem to be about New Orleans in the present, but an old case there involving York that I guess will tie in somehow to whats happening in Boston in DP2.
It is on PS3 but it has terrible performance issues. Switch isn't perfect due to lackluster performance only in the open world and audio bugs, but its portable.
My Steam version ran fine aside from the horrible bugged screeching car sound. I can't drive without muting the game, but I don't want to mute it since it has a bunch of dialogue and Francis monologues while going from place to place.
I only have a PS3, I don't want to play that version just to fix the bugged sound. Why couldn't they make a proper port reeeeee
Hopefully DP2 will have less bugs or performance issues than DP1.
can't you just turn down the sound effects volume specifically?
Yeah, I did that for a while, but it sucks going back and forth through the menu and muting/restoring sound effects as the game has a lot of driving involved. I just don't get why it's the cars that is the issue, even gunfire sounds fine. Never finished the game because of this...
