The "counter" to this stat is that it's assuming policing and enforcement of crimes is equal. Blacks have more police around them, so they get arrested more, so they're part of the statistic. Blacks and whites smoke the same amount of weed, but blacks are 4 times more likely to go to jail for it, get harsher penalties for it, and overall exist in the prison system longer, creating the black prison system we see today. If everything in terms of law enforcement patrolling areas was equal and this is true, then you'd have a case, but as it stands, this stat is under scrutiny for reasons mentioned, including the logic presented in this post. Thoughts?

Victimization reports of violent crimes line up with the arrest statistics. There's definitely some kind of police bias, but 50% is pretty fucking massive bias can't account for a disparity that large. It's probably more productive to talk about how so many black men grow up without fathers and in poverty and how that's a vicious cycle. That stat isn't inherently racist.
