It was a great expansion to the best JRPG of the decade. I liked it, but not as much as 2.
God tier game. 1>Torna>2>X
>repackaged as paid DLC chapter that devs admitted was supposed to be in the base game originally
It's okay when nintendo does it
It was great. I enjoyed the changes to the combat system.
>It's been a year since Torna released
Man, time flies. Anyway, it was probably one of the best expansions I've seen in some time. Although, I would change a lot around.
>Push the war back before Malos started destroying Titans, so Judicium could be explored as a location, since it was relevant to the creation of Flesh Eaters, and their overall technology
>Get rid of Gormott, and include pre industrial Mor Ardain since Hugo, and Brighid are in the party, and there was another city on the Titan that wasn't explored during the main story
>Get rid of having to do Community Quests to progress through the story
>Show more of what Jin was doing after becoming a Flesh Eater, and Lora's death, up until he met Logos
That's honestly all I'd change, but otherwise I had a lot of fun. Torna as a Titan was more fun to explore by itself, than half the Titans in the main game. I come back from time to time specifically to roam around.
100% this.
That would have fucked the pacing of the game, honestly. Torna is pretty long in terms of plot. At the most, they could have included it as an unlockable prologue story after clearing Chapter 7, or the main story even.
I've still got a lot of mixed feelings about the story.
I liked the way it built upon Jin and Mythra as characters, but as an Aegis War DLC it was very disappointing.
For such a short DLC, too much time was spent of what felt like filler, and it really failed to expand on some of things that interested me the most from what the main game had shown of the period (and outright ignored some of it).
Still had a lot of fun with it though.
Agreed.
XC2 will probably get a remaster in the next decade too, so when that time comes, this will likely be the best course of action. Torna being included on the game card as post game content would be great. Reminds me a lot of the Special Episodes in PMD: Explorers of Sky.
I like Torna, but I don't know why it gets put over 2. In terms of gameplay and the updated mechanics, for sure. Story wise and overall content present? Nah. It's basically an extension of 2, so they'd be about equal.
1 > 2 = Torna > X
X was miles better with interesting characters and a story with moral dilemmas but prefer your generic anime cliche game if you want
It was ok but I was really disappointed about how much music they reused from the main game. The battle theme was really good so I was hoping for more music like it.
I enjoyed her suffering.
Twitter says that today is "KOS-MOS day".
Torna didn't have Nia.
X is the only Xeno game I never bothered to finish. it was that bad
A lot. Didn't mind the mandatory sidequests and even did the non-mendatory ones to reach community rank 6 twice, another time in NG+
The base game was still better
Not him but X is probably the best JRPg i've ever played. When I finally played 1 the game was fairly underwhelming.
>interesting characters
>Yelv
>Alex
>Elma
There, I just listed all the interesting characters in X despite it having EIGHTEEN (18) party members.
How is that port coming?
It was pretty decent but ultimately disappointing and not as good as the Aegis War depiction in the main game.
Best part of the game, that shitty cat said shit about mechas and deserved death.
>Addam... He had foreseen everything.
>He knew what would happen to the people after the kingdom fell.
>But...he chose not to return.
>This day I seal the Aegis away from the world.
>But this seal is not for eternity.
>In anticipation of the day that humanity becomes worthy of the Aegis's power...
>I entrust her to posterity.
>She is our hope...
>When mankind has matured, and learned to live better lives...
>she will answer your call, and return to you.
>Trusting that day will come, I leave my final wish to you...
>Addam foresaw much confusion and hardship in the world ahead.
>And when I seemed unsure, he told me something.
>"This is a trial..."
>Is me sleeping a part of the trial?
>That's right...
>It is a trial for us humans. One we must overcome ourselves.
>If we cannot do that, we don't deserve to live alongside you.
The real problem with Torna is that it spends far too much time trying to put you in Jin's shoes by getting you really attached to the country (which it does in a shitty way, by forcing you to do a bunch of sidequests almost entirely revolving around the humans living in Torna instead of what Jin focuses on in the main game - the culture of Blade/human equality), and utterly fails to build up to this.
The game's too afraid of making the people in Auresco anything but likeable, because it wants the player to feel sad when the city gets blasted in the final battle. It doesn't really try to build the beginnings of what would become the general counter-Addamite sentiment outside of maybe one guy who talks about how Malos's driver should've disciplined him or something.
>Silent protagonist in a story driven RPG
>the fucking annoyingass little girl and the stupid as fuck nopon
>the vast majority of the "good story" was in fucking side quests that had nothing to do with the main plot, which was absolutely horrid
>the shittyass combat where an enemy could melee attack you from miles away
Nice bait.
I still haven't finished it. Dropped it once the community shit came up
This was also a big problem for me
>the shittyass combat where an enemy could melee attack you from miles away
that's just every xenoblade
This is the only correct opinion to have
1 will probably be on top if they do the DE properly, but in no world do I understand how Torna is better than 2
It's nowhere near as bad in 1 and 2 as it is in X.
Who is?
>Lin
>Lao
>Celica
>L
>Mia
Most characters in the game have great affinity quests. The game just doesn't spell everything out. Besides Lao and the lion are probably in the top 5 of xeno villians.
You didn't play the protagonist. Elma and Lin were the main characters. Good side quests aren't a valid critic point. It being optional, doesn't make it bad
Out of thoses only L is good, and they didn't do anything with him.
>Lin
Annoying one-note character with the most unfunny cringe iteration of ACTUAL Japanese humor to ever deface video games (the unfunny gag repeated ad nauseam because they think if they spout it out enough it'll go from unfunny to hilarious instead of what always happen, it going from unfunny to irritating, aka LET'S EAT TATSU LMAO)
>Lao
Whiny edgelord with dumb plans and even dumber morals
>Celica
Literally who?
>L
Ok, I'll give you L, and I'll even throw Nagi on top.
>Mia
Oh boy I sure do love unlocking a party member ONCE THE GAME'S FUCKING OVER!
Immensely
youtube.com
>tfw the ending, Jin's monologue, the credits music
>You didn't play the protagonist. Elma and Lin were the main characters.
This is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard, user. Earlier you said you face moral dilemmas, it's the silent protagonist that makes those choices, but now you're contradicting that.
>Good side quests aren't a valid critic point. It being optional, doesn't make it bad
Reread what I said. I said the good story was in the side quests, which had pretty much nothing to do with the main story. The main story itself was horrible.
>your pic
WOW I SURE DO LOVE "EAT TATSU" JOKE #1957285256
>Lin and Lao
>good characters
You're absolutely delusional.
>D00d, let’s cook Tatsu!
Fuck off, you ugly potato.
It was good and mostly makes me hope for an XB2DE at the end of the Switch's lifetime
>remaster
>uses pic-related as the basis for adjusting the models a bit
>camping is back so you can have way more interactions between Blades and characters
>rear-guard arts are in the main game with Rare Blades having unique ones
>Each of the 5 drivers have far more unique weapon arts
>Vandam doesn't die until midway through chapter 4; retrieving Roc is made into a side mission
>Morytha and the World Tree are made into more fully fleshed out levels
I want it.
XB2 was a gem in the rough and if they could polish it up even a bit, I'd be grateful
My Nia-ggas
I have this on my damn wishlist and have been debating on buying it. Please stop me.
Besides her being the beast of the main cast by a mile, it would've be interesting to get a glimpse of her and Pandoria's past selves
For instance, Malos said Jin realized that Nia had special cancer powers, but what if that were because he saw her use them 500 years earlier
Lin, Lao and Elma have the discussion about whether it was the right thing to do. You don't make the choices. You just agree with Lin.
Neither Malos nor Jin knew Nia had cancer powers, Malos just thought the reason Jin took Nia in is because he knew she were super powerful because all Malos acknowledges in people is their power, while Jin just took Nia in because she's a Flesh Eater with nowhere left to go, like him. Consciously or not, Jin was still in a way reaching for Lora's dream of taking in and sheltering people he saw some of himself in. Originally, Lora meant starting an orphanage for war orphans, but Jin applied it to Flesh Eater outcasts. Malos isn't able to grasp any of that so once Nia shows her cancer powers he immediately assumes that's the only reason Jin wanted her on the crew.
Torna and the whole season pass is one of the best in years, its only sin is no Gormott night theme, when they already had a piano one in XC2's OST that would fit perfectly. I don't even mind the community level, as I had fun doing the sidequests and knowing the NPCs and their antics
Yes, that's what I meant. Nia certainly doesn't seem to think that's the case, and Malos certainly acts like it's the first he saw of Nia's real power. Malos' just making assumptions based on what he thinks Jin is like.
also, missing are the obligatory swimsuits.
Buy it. At least you get to have a new KOS-MOS fig. Me on the other hand, will never get a Lora one, and it fucking hurts
It comes off to me as more of a taunt, implying Malos is stupid for not realizing she could do that
I like how we're getting some new Torna art today
>Consciously or not, Jin was still in a way reaching for Lora's dream of taking in and sheltering people he saw some of himself in. Originally, Lora meant starting an orphanage for war orphans, but Jin applied it to Flesh Eater outcasts.
That seems like a stretch, especially considering that Torna was written after the game and the writing doesn't always fit together all that well.
I prefer the way the main game framed it in chapter 9 a lot more.
As much as Fate Zero.
>suffered through war
>sees his best friend dying
>PTSDed shota becomes a playboy
What the hell
>Teams up with the guy who killed his best friend
Is a facade, a desperate one.
he's been around for five hundred fucking years by that point my man
Mikh wasn't fooled, he knows who the true mastermind is
I still have dreams of it.
youtube.com
Auresco, home...
the plot device of true tornans having blue eyes was dumb
You DID go with the cutest hat, RIGHT?
It was, dare I say it, Xenokino
youtube.com
Of course.
Imagine being an incel for over 500 years.
It's the only real choice, because the other FUCKING CLIPS THROUGH THE WINGS.
He's a handsome lad, I'm sure he got laid at least once.
Torna's battle theme was so good
Did he ever draw some of Torna's characters in casual clothing?
I'm sure he got laid multiple times over 500 years.
He had tsundere onee-san issues thanks to Hikari and feel constantly for bad girls like Benkei.
I hated 2 so I still haven't played it. I bought it though so I'll eventually give it a go, probably before 1 Definitive is released.
Goddamn I love me some good Metsyblade fan stuff.
The biggest crime in XC2 and Torna were the lack of monstrous/animal blades. Wulfric, Sever, and Dromarch were really cool, but instead we got a giant cast of mostly shitty waifus (a few good ones at least, Haze, Agate, Herald, and Zenobia were great) and almost no good male humanoid blades (Geoffrey was interesting but gameplay-wise he was TERRIBLE).
Morag + Wulfric was the most fun setup I found in the game, goodness gracious I loved that combo.
"FAAALLLLL!" gets me diamonds each time.
>that story the artist of this posted about having to explain it to a bunch of his older relatives because his parents brought a copy to a memorial or something
poor fucker
In the middle of this game, that shit is annoying as fuck.
It has it's moments, but man does it drag on in some areas. It's especially a pain in the ass to replace the damn skells when your team loses one.
w-what
Overly proud parents bring son's doujinshi to a family gathering to show everyone their son's great art.
twitter.com
they put it on his grandma's altar actually
I beat the base game and enjoyed it quite a bit. Is this better or worse?
I hope grandma enjoyed metsublade.
>DLC is the best game in the series
I hate the fact that this is true
"He's" a girl.
It's about the same. Better in some areas (Uou can play as Blades now!), worse in others (Want to progress the story? Fuck you, go do some sidequests first).
Has some great new music, but not a ton of it.
What the fuck?
kek, that's somehow wholesome
No, is cringe, having your story being read to normalfags and then having to explain it to them, poor artists.
>XB2DE at the end of the Switch's lifetime
I'd rather have it on the next console with:
>added/changed cutscenes to better flesh out some story sections, such as more signs of Pyra's/Mythra's PTSD, slower comeback for Rex after being defeated by Jin, more foreshadowing for the Third Aegis Sword, make the post credit scene feel less like an asspull, etc
>expanded Cliffs of Morytha, Land of Morytha and World Tree
>more Blades available through quests and defeating unique monsters
>chain attacks unlock in chapter 2
>touched up character models to better reflect the concept art, especially the faces for Pyra, Mythra, Rex and Nia
>redone dub voice acting for the major cutscenes OR proper japanese subtitle options
God I wish this would happen, but I know the chances are little to none.
>God I wish this would happen, but I know the chances are little to none.
If XBDE does well, I could see it coming along eventually, along with a DE for X.
first they will release X2 which will retcon material from X, so they can then release XDE
Just playing XC2 in 1080p would be a treat already. Everything else would be icing on the cake
hopefully yuzu will get its act together sooner than later
What, and cut the flow of donation money from retards? Face it, projects that run on donations NEVER get finished.
tpbp
>Shit taste.
X > 1 > Torna > 2
They're all great, though. Can't wait for whatever's next.
>anime gacha games
I thought it was really fucking boring, mostly because of the combat
I really despise just auto attacking and timing spells, its so god damn braindead.
Atleast let me fucking weave in and out and have to land hits or let me dodge damage. How the fuck does anyone enjoy this trash?
>or let me dodge damage
play as Aegaeon
You can play an action rpg instead, user.
Man, this just reminds me that I'm still sad that no one ever ripped the battle dialogue for all those Nopon in the heropon challenge battle. Or any XB2's other DLC.
Yeah the combat is worse than every generic mmo.
This but unironically
The biggest problem with Torna is that the side quests are worse, and that you're forced to do them in order to advance the plot. The combat system also feels smoother but has way less depth and is much easier to get good at, whereas with XC2's combat there's lots of different builds you have to specialize into in order to beat end game stuff (or just max out poppi and plow through everything)
>Says this with a screenshot from one of the DOZEN scenez where the dumb potato Loli makes cringey anime Japanese humor jokes about cooking the anime mascot
How are you so dense?
I had a good time, but needing to upgrade the community to progress certain parts of the plot was eh
user, delete this pic, for some reason mods think is NSFW enough to get the whole thread deleted.
Malos is top 5 villain territory. Both incredibly fun on surface level, and a fairly deep villain if you aren't retarded and understand what his ACTUAL motivations were.
Lao doesn't even scratch the surface.
>Can't have artful, back nudity
I don't know why I still bother coming here sometimes
What's with the random X art?
>running gags are bad now
And if you would focus less on her age and her underaged body, maybe you could have enjoyed her complex character
Yeah, it shouldn't have been separated from the main game
malos and lao are both in my top 5 xenoblade villains desu
I haven't touched the older xeno games and supposedly those have better characters so I'm not going to comment on xeno as a whole
>Running gags
>Literally the same exact bad joke with the same exact punchline a dozen times in the same place where you always expect it to be
There is not a single line of dialogue, cutscene, or joke in XC2 that nearly reaches the level of "Japanese humor" cringe inducing shit that tatsu = food does. Not the dancing scene, not the Mythra bed scene, and not the one eyed monster scene. It's just fucking bad.
Running gags are fine. Stupid, unfunny running gags are not fine.
"LMAO LET'S EAT TATSU" was not a funny gag in the slightest.
>complex character
>typical "young super intelligent anime girl" cliche
>complex in the slightest
Oh I get it, you're just a waifufag that has to zealously defend your shitty waifu while ignoring any and all legit criticism.
Pneuma figure when?
>comparing a scene you see once per chapter to an entire game full anime cringe
xc2 fans really getting desperate
This
The only reason X didn't get as many shitpost threads about tatsu cutscenes is because XC2 was a popular game and X was not.
I appreciate it for what it is and think it's worth the expansion pass but I didnt think it was as good as the base game. The addition of talent arts and the team system were nice but orbs building off any special instead of a level 3 combo plus the lack of path restriction made combat less strategic and more art spammy.
Story wise not much goes on, I think trying to appease both people who didnt play the base game and those who had was a mistake, it led to something that's unfulfilling for veterans and confusing for newcomers.
Lack of field skill juggling with blades was nice but in place of it was an even more intrusive community system.
I played to around chapter 5 of XC2 before getting bored and dropping it. Is this worth a pirate
>Comparing a joke you see 12 times in 30 hours to 3 somewhat anime cringey jokes you see in 70 hours, 1 of which is entirely dependent on if you do an optional blade quest
Yes that is the comparison I am making, what of it?
>Lack of field skill juggling with blades was nice but in place of it was an even more intrusive community system.
>take the affinity chart system, remove the most interesting part (relationships between characters changing depending on how you complete quests), and make filling it out mandatory
what the fuck were they thinking
>Dropping XC2 right at the point where it shifts from character based drama to world saving adventure
Yikes
sure
>entire game full of anime cringe
>vs
>30 second scene you see per chapter
seething
But Kora's dance stuff was a SIDE QUEST. >side quests aren't a valid critic point.
Really gets the noggin' joggin'.
Don't forget that the tatsu food jokes are also shoved into other interactions that are not optional. That guy is just baiting.
imagine being so contrarian you like a bad game like XCX
>chapter 5
play torna and then resume the main game for maximum Fun
>Posts a 1 minute webm
>Calls it 30 seconds
And if all of XC2 is cringey why are only 3 scenes from the game ever posted as examples? Find a fourth example then from the main story
I haven't finished it yet, when it came out I was burnt out on rpgs
What is all this "anime cringe" in XC2? I know it's present, but you're saying the whole game is anime cringe. Name examples and stop using generalizations.
>I know it's present
Meaning, I know there is anime cringe in the game. I'm fucking tired.
Yes and we know there is anime cringe I'm XCX in the form of tatsu, what's your fucking point?
God I wish. What the fuck are you doing, GSC, Nintendo, you love money, just do it, alongside a Nia scale
It's always nice to see confirmation that neptuniablade faggots subconsciously know how shitty their games are and constantly try to tear each other apart.
I'm being dumb and wording my posts poorly. I meant I know there's anime cringe in XC2, but nowhere near as much as claims. Which is why I told him to name examples and stop using stupid as fuck generalizations.
>a Nia scale
I've already given up an invested in an acryllic stand
I still haven't played it, I dropped XB2 in bitterness and resentment after beating the final boss since I never got Dahlia, the one blade I wanted, the blade I bought the game for. One day I'll go back, maybe around the time XB1 remaster comes out, and play them all in sequence. If I start at XB1, what would be better, doing XB1>Torna>XB2 or XB1>XB2>Torna
My nigga, literally got that exact stand as well once I realized the futility of it all
Though I only have the Pyra scale and missed out on the Mythra one because I wasn't in a good place financially at the time
Quick question for early game. I’ve got a lot of common blades I opened on Rex before finding out that I shouldn’t have done that. Should I just release them all except the ones with the luck stats? Is there any reason to keeping them?
Well, that's one way to do it, I guess
Once Rex is in smash we'll get one probably
I had the chance to get both but only deemed Mythra to be worth the money. I never used Pyra once Mythra became available in the game
I still maintain hope ffor Pneuma
>I still haven't played it, I dropped XB2 in bitterness and resentment after beating the final boss since I never got Dahlia, the one blade I wanted, the blade I bought the game for.
Based RNG fucking over waifufags.
You can trash common blades. Later on you can get high rank common blades that are vastly superior, I forget how it works, it's been a while. Something like training up blades and then releasing them or something? I don't remember.
Only reason to keep commons is if you need a specific field/gathering skill to be boosted up super high, but rare blades can typically take care of that themselves.
You can keep them for element field checks. Once you have the max amount of Blades you can start releasing them. Luck Blades on Rex aren't that useful either, since ideally you won't be opening cores on him in the late game.
Common blades are good for extra field skill help when you're lacking rares. It's the rare blades you should be spreading out to other party members.
I highly doubt that
Keep your common Blades, they'll be useful for unlocking things with their elemental skills. Also don't listen to the "don't put Rares on Rex" meme, or at least, don't 100% listen to it. For the first 70% of the game, Rex will NEED some good Blades, so give him at least 2 or 3
That's fair; Pyra is practically worthless in the game, but I personally just liked Pyra more as a character and didn't start to appreciate Mythra until Torna came around unfortunately.
If it would have released on switch, you would all loved it. Better open world game than BOTW
It's personal taste but Pyra is the sort of waifu I hate the most
I thoroughly enjoyed it just like I did with xbc2
Only Addam was able to live a fucking normal life after Torna. What a fucking tragic ending that shit was and actually made me appreciate the main game more.
I wouldn't say Pyra becomes worthless, switching between them is fun and costless, and she has the useful Fire element
Cool, I appreciate the help. Guess I’ll keep them till late game then.
also, holy shit this game is genuinely fun.
That isn't even sure, considering her wife was most likely at this camp Amalthus attacked in the ending
I fucking played it and no it isn't.
It's an empty game with an unfinished shitty main quest and 90% of the side quests are trashy fetch quests. BOTW has climbing, resource management, and a really cool physics / weather engine to keep the relatively empty world interesting, whereas XCX has absolutely nothing to do in its open world besides combat, and once you get flight mode you completely break the map
Imagine if you could just start flying in BOTW half way into the game. No consequences, no setting up, no limited distance, just fly. Imagine how fucking boring that would have made the experience
>Once Rex is in smash
Not happening
whens the pc version
Pyra feels like playing with slow motion once you get Myhtra's spam arts
You're supposed to swap between Mythra and Pyra for the choice betwen speed and power, yet swapping between Mythra and Nia when the need arises for offense and defense is a much more fluid and enjoyable dynamic
It definitely is. Also, have the usual newbro pasta:
-Screencap tutorials because there isn't a reasonable way to view them again.
-Rex automatically gets fantastic blades so you don't need to give him much Blades from the gacha (but give him 2 or 3 good Blades)
-Use Pouch Items as much as possible, especially the ones that lets you recharge your Arts faster. Makes the flow of the battle better.
-On skill trees, you will see an ability unlock "Cancel a driver art with another driver art". It's imperative that you unlock this ASAP because it boosts the flow of battle tremendously.
-Also get the 3 skills that lets you start a battle with the Art already charged on the X, Y and B buttons
-Understand the Attack Cancelling mechanic, as it makes the flow of the battle better by recharging Arts quickly
-Swapping blades refills their arts palette.
-You can combo into and out of swapping blades.
-Most enemies will aggro you if you aren't 8 levels above them. And look at your environment before taking a step in the wild, or you could get your ass raped by a Gorilla 80 levels over you. But the game don't punish you for exploring, so don't be afraid to do it.
-Don't use too much bonus XP at inns unless you really need to because it can completely trivialize the game.
-Focus on the Driver Combo of Break > Topple > Launch > Smash when they will be introduced. The sooner you can understand this set up, the better.
-You can raise trust between a Driver and their Blade by repeatedly using pouch items over and over again. It costs money, but later in the game money is a non-issue.
-Raising trust with your Blade is needed to unlock the Blade's skill tree in most cases.
-Don't waste protocol overdrives. Especially on common blades. The game only gives you a few.
-DON'T kill the little Arduran in Torigoth until you feed it to Lv.99. He'll become the best Legendary Cores farming spot.
>Didn't quite make the roster when the first fighter pass was assumed to be all
>There's now a season 2
He

In
kys, I got KOS-MOS, a blade that people seem to want to kill over, at the door to the final boss just dicking around using the rest of my crystals since I had given up hope at that point. It was a flawed game design decision to include gacha. Now I know how to avoid it on my replay, just fucking cheese the gacha at the beginning of the game using cloud backups until I get what I want.
Didn't he basically disappear and die after founding Fonsett?
Have some real resolution
Skells singlehandedly negate your entire argument about the open world.
Not to mention the combat was atrocious.
So did Torna ever make more connections to Rex possibly being a descendant of Addam other than the fact that his wife was pregnant, meaning the Addam line most likely did continue
Give it up
Cope more when he's announced soiboi
I'd love a XC2 rep in Smash but I'd fucking hate if it was Rex as that means we'll be getting Pyra/Mythra. Zeke or Morag would be ideal, at least for me.
Screencapped and saved, thank you. Also, I’ve read that farming protocol overdrives becomes a bit easier in the late game, still, I won’t use any unless absolutely needed.
My favorite thing that came out of Torna is still this image.
Yeah, collaborations with monolith Soft sounds about right
This shit is why I stopped playing Ultimate. I'm so fucking sick of the third party shit
If it is Rex we might get Nia as the third blade he uses in a sort of Pokemon trainer fashion
Forced sidequests are pretty bad, but the combat is way better. Haven't finished it yet because of those dreadful sidequests.
Sakurai's taste is too awful to do that. Plus it's technically a spoiler
>No argument
Concession accepted
Sakurai doesn't give a shit about spoilers though
>Implying Sakurai has ever given a flying fuck about spoilers
He has to an extent. Shulk only has the Monado I for instance. I still think he's too much of a cretin to care about Nia over the titty monsters
The joint level 4 special with Nia and Pyra hits like a fucking truck also Rex has access to a cool mechanic that no other driver has if you have a core chip with a stat modifier on it like the +50 AGI or +50% drop rate on Pyra the effect remains active even while you are using Mythra and vise versa those extra stats can really boost your damage output/utility especially on BoC difficulty.
Artist source?
>Rex gets into smash
>Malos gets in as a heavier Shulk echo
>The joint level 4 special with Nia and Pyra hits like a fucking truck
And is still usable on Nia even if Mythra is active
>especially on BoC difficulty.
I think BoC is horribly designed and don't play it
Nia having the ability to give super cancer as a healer is genius and it's amazing how no one has given healing mages the ability to give cancer before in games since it just seems so obvious
Not really.
I have played it, and finished it. Its a bare bones pseudoMMO JRPG.
I hope XCDE comes out before my last voucher expires.
No, his wife evacuated to Fonsett alongside the rest of his retainers.
I liked that joint attack, feels so good to trigger it
Thanks bby
Always a pleasure to help a fellow user
desu you could skip the Rex part and I'd be just as happy
it is a game with 10/10 side content and exploration and world design, but an absolutely garbage main story.
I tend to go with Nexus Force for muh heals
>Best girls
>Only Nia and Pyra
that's right
>smashfags
I'd rather fucking not. Shulk is enough for now.
Just in ultimate alone you already have Fiora's spirit evolving into mecha Fiora and you-know-who evolving into metal face
And yet Nia doesn't evolve. Just saying
Poor Aegaeon couldn't see his OTP hook up
Jin had a hard life
XB1 is nearly a decade old, user.
Malos and Jin's bromance is really heart wrenching. Xenoblade 2 is honestly a much better game about depression than 99% of the indie shit out there, and actually understands male depression
>That moment you realize that Pneuma actually lowers your damage potential in chain attacks
I like how at the end Malos is just kinda going through the motions. With pope smurf gone, his influence is starting to wane and malos is beginning to realize how much of that influence affected him. He knows things need to end right then or else he'll give up and they'll forgive him, but he doesn't want to be forgiven since he knows it wouldn't be right.
Never played through it
Honestly, XC2 getting a definitive version in the far future doesn't seem too unlikely. It damn near reached 2 million in sales, exceeded Monolith's expectations, and in general had a lot of rough areas, or cut content. I could see it happening on the next Nintendo console, or two. That'll be plenty of power to make the game look as amazing as possible.
>this didn't play in a fight where Jin goes nuts after consuming Lora's heart, and slices apart the Indol forces
youtube.com
Fuck you can literally hear him losing his mind
Seriously, that song would be so perfect for that moment. It didn't deserve to be wasted on Gort.
I stand by my theory that he was bad deep down all along and would've lost it eventually. Lora just sped up the inevitable
Nah, the message of the story is that the owner of the blade really doesn't have that much influence over the blade they awaken. Sure there's some, but ultimately the actions of the blade are theirs and theirs alone. Malos was used and abused by a corrupt psychopath for political and power moves, and he felt as if his life had no purpose. He tried to excuse this by waving it away as being because Amalthus awakened him and he was just a monster, but he just wanted to be free and his own individual. In the end he found a meaning in his life through freedom and trying to make Jin's wish come true
>Only Addam was able to live a fucking normal life after Torna
>Hugo gets smoked trying to save Addam, which results in his death, and Brighid/Aegeon getting reverted to their Cores to once again erase their memories
>Lora gets smoked protecting Jin, and the later eats her Heart and becomes a depressed savage
>Haze reverts to her core, forgets her memory, and has her powers used by the clown responsible for everything
>Mythra gets PTSD, develops an entirely new personality, and gets thrown in a ship for 500 years
>Mikhail gets kidnapped, and experimented on by Amalthus after having his friend get blown away
>Milton gets killed during the war
The only people who unironically got to live normally, were Addam, and Minoth.
This is why the tone of Torna bothered me.
>Nia having the ability to give super cancer as a healer is genius and it's amazing how no one has given healing mages the ability to give cancer before in games since it just seems so obvious
It's funny as hell, but would probably be overly broken in actual combat against regular enemies, or bosses. I imagine it'd knocked a fraction of health from bosses especially, so eh.
I feel like it really gave depth to Pyra and Mythra.
Pyra was essentially created from Mythra's severe PTSD and is a physical manifestation of Mythra trying to run away and repress everything.
It's also really interesting who Pyra is as a person. She's everything Mythra feels like she lacks. Pyra is outwardly kind and caring, and very humble. Pyra gets along with everyone and is a great cook. While Mythra is more standoffish and prideful. She clashes with people often and is somewhat reserved around others, and cannot cook well.
Mythra essentially made a person that has all the strengths to her own perceived weaknesses.
This is why I never liked Pyra. She feels fake. I could never bond with her as a person
>forced side quests
I don't understand. Why did they need to ruin the best scene of the game like this?
>XC1
Shulk + Ontos
>XC2
Rex + Pneuma
>XC3
??? + Logos
I kind of have a feeling that Logos got sucked into whatever universe the Conduit did, and will end up being the main Blade for that game. I just kind of find it retarded that Malos survived what would essentially be a nuclear explosion from Mythra without his core cracking, to dying from getting bashed from Rex & Pneuma when he was inside of Aion. I don't know, it just didn't feel right. If he doesn't return though, his character was nice, and his death was good.
I completely forgot that I never played Torna. I was so burned out on Xenoblade at the time that I just put the game down and forgot to come back and finish the DLC.
>Nah, the message of the story is that the owner of the blade really doesn't have that much influence over the blade they awaken.
I think the game makes that point to a degree, but it doesn't really downplay the influence of Drivers (and especially Amalthus) quite as much as you're suggesting.
Yeah Klaus tells Malos that "it was a choice you made together" and Malos definitely isn't entirely beholden to Amalthus's will like some people seem to think, but the game also leans pretty fucking hard into Amalthus's effect on Malos being quite a bit more than just "some" influence when it does things like comparing it to an instinct on the same level as breathing. And despite the first response Klaus gives when Malos asks him his question, he still goes on later to remind the party that Malos is "an information processing unit (...) driven by a certain impulse, the despair that the man named Amalthus felt" when explaining that he's trying to destroy everything.
Imagine waking up, and suddenly having the despair, disgust, and genocidal impulses of another person processed into your mind. It's actually pretty depressing when you think about it.
This
Malos and Jin are two depressed individuals that relied on each other.
Malos was awoken by some loser that only saw him as a tool, and used him only as he needed. Malos wanted greater meaning in his life, which initially lead to his rebellion to prove he was his own person, and later lead to him wanting to help Jin through his troubled times. In the end Malos says to Rex that he only ever had one driver in response to Rex wishing he would have awoken him instead. This isn't to refer to Amalthus as his one driver, but rather to refer to himself as the driver of his own life. Hearing that Jin wanted him to be taken care of was probably the moment for Malos that made everything worth it, that justified his existence. All along Malos wanted the world to know that the things that were happening weren't because of Amalthus and his blade, but because of Malos, who just happened to be awoken by Amalthus.
Jin meanwhile is suffering from depression due to his loss. His journey is under the basis of raging against the impossible obstacle that is mortality, having humans die, and the feeble memories of blades, forgetting all of the great things they experienced and the people they loved and cared for. He doesn't want others to go through what he did, but ultimately it is seeing Mythra / Pyra and Rex, along with Brigid and Morag which convinces him that even with the fragility of life that people can find meaning, and blades can keep pushing forward.
I'd argue the point of the game is that drivers are like parents and blades are like kids. Yea, parents have a big influence on the kid, but that doesn't mean you jail parents of serial killers or put kids of murderers on watch lists. Malos used his connection to Amalthus as an excuse for his rampage in Torna, between Torna and 2 fell into an existential crisis of sorts, and ultimately found meaning in trying to fulfill Jin's wish. He proved that he was his own person, and that's all he wanted.
So assuming XC3 continues from the prior games, which world would you like it to continue from? Shulk's universe, or Rex's? Unless Takahashi does something retarded like retconning Shulk's wish for a world without God's teleporting everyone from the Bionis, to the reformed Earth in XC2, but I doubt that.
Why wouldn't Alvis just dump everyone back on earth? Who else would the people Shulk wants to meet in the new world be?
That could still technically work, since the Nu-Alrest technically doesn't have any Gods, and the Conduit disappeared.
A new world with Malos as the main side character like
suggested.
XC1 is about love based vengenace, XC2 is about romantic love based motivation make 3 about brotherly bonds
XB1DE is being done to introduce 2babbies to the story of 1 so 3 can be an all out crossover sequel. I can finally get my Shulk, Nia, Dunban dream team
The thing is that, through what happened to Jin, Malos develops his own hatred of the world independent of what Amalthus put into him only now he hates himself for the role he played in it
I like all of these characters aside from the ones in D
Somewhere new would be best to me, but wherever is fine.
Honestly, I'd prefer a new universe, with the connection to older games being Alvis and the Conduit. But if I had to choose, it'd be Rex's. Alvis' speech at the end of 1 made me feel like there'd be a lot less major conflicts with every lifeform walking hand in hand.
He doesn't hate himself though in the end. When Rex finally beats him he feels satisfied, knowing that it was his hand that moved the world into a new future.
He hates what the world did to Jin, but knowing that Jin finally found meaning in the end gave him his satisfaction.
>retconning Shulk's wish for a world without God's teleporting everyone from the Bionis, to the reformed Earth in XC2
Why would that be retarded? Shulk's universe is basically just a false Earth anyway
The final fight is him committing suicide by cop
>Yea, parents have a big influence on the kid, but that doesn't mean you jail parents of serial killers or put kids of murderers on watch lists.
if malos was a normal blade they literally would've just killed his driver to get rid of him though
amalthus was a lucky son of a bitch
It's more like him flipping a coin to decide the future of the world, because that is ultimately the meaning he found for himself, someone how moves mountains.
I wish the main game's combat was retooled to be like Torna's.
Basically this. If he won, he would torch the Earth. If Rex won, he showed the determination humanity has to take their destinies into their own hands, or something like that.
I think it's a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.
At that point Malos doesn't think he deserves any kind of second chance, so he's basically embracing the role of being the 'final boss' and challenging Rex to prove his will by killing him, or die.
God fucking no, Torna's combat started to feel hold by the end of its 20 hours stay, having it for 70+ hours would be fucking torture.
My wish for XC3 is this, anywho
>New universe, that adapts what would be Episode 6 of the Perfect Works
>Reincarnated Klaus, and Galea as the main duo, albeit they have different identities entirely, but at some point in the game remember their past lives
>Logos ends up being his Blade, but retains the memories of his past, and struggles to find a new purpose in life since he can relatively dictate a clear future
>The Imaginary Number Domain lore from Xenosaga returns
>Probably finally get information on the Conduit's origins
I can't think of anything else, though.
I honestly don't know why Torna's combat is more popular than 2's when it's so dumbed down. Having to be clever with your blade combos and work to stack orbs was the best part of 2
It is far better integrated with the story. Rather than have your blades be cheerleaders who occasionally throw out blade specials, they actually fight alongside you like the cutscenes show.
>Malos used his connection to Amalthus as an excuse for his rampage in Torna
Malos's excuse (if you could even call it that, never exactly felt like he was trying to excuse anything) in Torna is more like "fuck you, I'm the Aegis, God made me to kill everything so I will"
dunno, I can't even bring myself to finish the base game
Blades don't just use specials. They have their own arts like Mythra's foresight and Nia's regeneration
I personally liked it, because you got to run through the world as your Blades. Not only that, but they actually do something, instead of sit in the background dancing like retards.
>I personally liked it, because you got to run through the world as your Blades.
I hate that I can't play as Nia's blade form but that really doesn't have to do with the combat itself
>Not only that, but they actually do something, instead of sit in the background dancing like retards.
see
I guess, but even then I prefer them being more active on the field instead of sitting in the background, occasionally using Specials, or activating passive arts.
2's isn't even clever though you can reliably stun lock every thing to death the minute you unlock Tantal with driver combos, Torna is equally as broken though slap a crit heal on Lora then just cycle between Lora and Jin a few times to stack up that bonus damage and you become unkillable outside of particular bosses one shot attacks.
The idea is that they're blade and driver are combining they powers rather than fighting seperately. The method of fighting in TOrna became viewed as obsolete compared to what Jin and Lora came up with
Challenge mode still manages to be tough and gives enemies enough HP that chain attacks don't break the game
>Challenge mode
I'll admit I really loved the shit out of challenge mode it forced your ass to master the mechanics the fact that they give you game breaking accessories if you go there before post game was a bit odd though.
Friendly reminder to STOP FUCKING YOUR BLADES
I had a feeling like that myself, though I don't think he was outright bad, moreso just extremely resentful at how fucked up the world, the nature of blades and the people in it were. Lora being there for him was probably the major thing that stopped him from losing himself, but we know how that turned out and then Indol decided to make the issue with blades 1000x worse. He probably knew something like this might happen, which is why he was so afraid of the knowledge he learned on flesh eaters.
Can I cuddle with her?
Torna doesn't even properly highlight his distaste of the world, and the relationship between Blades/Drivers. The plot of the game was honestly wasted potential. I get that it was only an expansion pack, but damn.
>Bird girl gets shafted in XC1
>Cat girl gets shafted in XC2
I wonder what animal girl will get shafted in XC3? Honestly though, I hope we don't get any love triangle developments this time around. Or if it does happen, the shafted person doesn't have a depressing life.
It's really dumb that they couldn't add some more Blade NPCs to Torna and Gormott (especially Torna, the difference between the population of flashback Auresco and DLC Auresco is absurd) to give a better sense of how Blades are treated in and out of Torna.
As it is, all we get is that one guy who talks about how Blades in other countries just go with the flow and act subservient like it's their nature when they're treated as less-than-equal. It's an interesting tidbit, but you'd think that would be something they'd want to put a bit more focus on in a DLC with Jin as the MC.
I agree, and I personally don't like what it did with Amalthus either.
Space minge!
This is why I kept my expectations relatively low when the game released. I had a feeling it wouldn't be an in depth journey through the world of Alrest, 500 years in the past. Judicium getting destroyed before the events of the game was especially sad, because I wanted to see it. All in all, a lot could have been done with Torna, that didn't happen.
the elaboration on his backstory with lora did help explain why his opinion on humans could go so sour IMO
they had to stay in hiding so the supposedly 'pro-blade' government of torna wouldn't hunt lora down and kill her to retrieve jin's core. they got to see more of the postive side of the country after befriending addam, but that's a relatively short time compared to the 17 years before that.
I kept my expectations low to the point of going through the datamine and spoiling myself on the length of the story and number of titans, and I was still disappointed.
I didn't even need to see Judicium, but seeing it get completely ignored was the worst.
Not as good as the base game, still haven't finished it despite putting 200 hrs into xenoblade 2
>combat was dumbed down (besides the new driver combo system, which I didn't like compared to the original)
>mandatory side quests
>party is boring compared to Nia/Tora/Morag/Zeke (imo)
>much shorter
>only two titans
Someone convince me to finish it
The end is the best part by far, finish it.
Cuddling Nia every day
>Or if it does happen, the shafted person doesn't have a depressing life.
Seriously, talk about all you want how happy Nia was at the end of the game but she had by far the worst life of the main cast and got friendzoned anyway. Fucking why?
>the best JRPG of the decade
It's okay to like it but saying this bullshit spawns the xc2 shitpost threads.
Alright, alright. Saturday plans it is then. Just gonna try and speedrun through these side quests, I think I'm at community level three right now
That's one post out of how many? I don't think it's enough to justify the shitpost threads.
lol
They shitpost about xenoblade no matter what we do
Just look at the first post of this very thread
There's even a schizo lately insisting that the xenoblade remake is nintendo giving the series a final chance before canning it
>Persona 5 is the best JRPG of the decade
>crickets
>Nier automata is the best JRPG of the decade
>crickets
>Xenoblade is the best JRPG of the decade
>Fucking neptuniablade faggots discussion of your shit series should be banned and you should go back to /vg/
I didn't say it spawns every single shitpost thread. It will atleast spawn mine
To be fair P5 and Nier get a lot of shit, but from entirely different people from what I can tell. Still no where near as much as XB2 though, especially since it doesn't have nearly as much as critical acclaim and popularity as the former titles.
xeno attracts a special, magical kind of autism
This. There's series I don't care for that get discussed on Yea Forums but I'm not the kind of person who goes into the threads about them to shitpost and tell them to stop talking about it. Not liking the series is perfectly find and valid but it's another thing entirely to have an autistic vendetta like this.
What part of "Nintendo exclusive" do people still don't understand. It also has big titties in an era of censorship
>I kept my expectations low to the point of going through the datamine and spoiling myself on the length of the story and number of titans, and I was still disappointed.
I don't even think I was present in the datamine threads, Jesus.
Between Nia, and Melia, who had the more depressing life?
>Both had a father, and a sister die
>Both have lived longer than most people in their respective parties, and will live for hundreds of years after their crew is dead, more than likely
>Both have their feelings relatively rejected
I'd still lean towards Melia, though. Having your entire species be draconic anti-bodies is pretty strange.
she just needs someone who cares about her for her....
Rex at least treats Nia well even if he doesn't reciprocate her feelings. Meanwhile Shulk seems to just forget Melia exists as soon as Fiora comes back.
There weren't threads for it, people just posted their findings in /vg/. Sometimes with spoiler tags, sometimes without.
Melia, easily.
Nia's life before meeting the party is more depressing, while Melia had it rougher after.
Nia had the more fucked up life but the better ending.
>Dad rams his dead daughter's heart down her throat
>Spends years on the run and imprisoned
>Ends up in a group of psychopaths
>So traumatized she spends a while lying to the first real friends she does get
But I don't know how to jump into the game so I can give her the love she deserves
It was okay, I honestly liked the base game way more though. Glad people are finally willing to criticize it some.
>Persona 5 is the best JRPG of the decade
>crickets
>Nier automata is the best JRPG of the decade
>crickets
I don't know how many threads you've been in for these games, but they had their shitshow moments. It's not even over yet for Persona 5, since people are already complaining around Royal. Unironically, most Persona threads are the same as Xenoblade.
>People constantly debating about which is the shittiest of the new generation titles (3, 4, or 5, with most people trashing the newest title, P5)
>Saying the older titles are superior to the newer titles, P1, Innocent Sin, Eternal Punishment, or in Xeno's case, Gears, and Saga III
With Nier Automata, it was mostly just people trashing Platinum's development of the world, and how the gameplay functioned. On top of Taro's over the top plot creation, but eh. Or people spamming 2B ass shots, but nevermind. I don't know why people think only Nintendo exclusive JRPG's get bashed. People are shitting on FF7R as we speak.
>People are shitting on FF7R as we speak.
Nobody is trashing the FF7 Remake outside of sperges complaining about the game taking away the turn based aspect of the original, or the local FF sperge, Barry.
X was fucking garbage and I hope it never gets that port or a sequel. Delayed out the ass only to be garbage and censored garbage at that. 2 actually felt like a proper sequel.
Nia is a pretty girl with OP powers, I'm sure she can find a nice guy, especially since the consensus among fans is that she is too good for Rex.
I don't know why you're so spiteful, user. A proper remaster could easily fix the issues X had. No clue why people ask for X2 before X1 gets touched up, though. Most people haven't even played X, compared to 1, or 2.
X was a good game dragged down by awful music, shit characters and drab art style. A sequel could easily fix all of that.
But i doubt she'd ever love any guy more than the one who cured her trauma. It's a shitty situation
I haven't played X but the best thing about the Xenoblade series is the world, the combat and exploration. And X does that well from what I heard.
Takahashi said that if the ported X it would be a remake of some sort. For XC1DE he said a straightforward reimagining. X might get better characterization and a more fleshed out plot.
I like your way of thinking, Frostbro
>Bird girl gets shafted in XC1
>Cat girl gets shafted in XC2
They fucking wish they were getting shafted, both will die as thousand years old virgins.
Thanks, Poira
Kek
Fuck you though
Then grind legendary cores until you get her. It's what I would have done, and what I had to do to get KOS-MOS.
I mean, we don't know. Nia could have died a week after the events of XC2, or hundreds of years later like Minoth (Cole) since Flesh Eaters are so unstable. Melia will probably legit live for another hundred years, or two, when all of her friends will have died.
>Unless Takahashi does something retarded like retconning Shulk's wish for a world without God's teleporting everyone from the Bionis, to the reformed Earth in XC2, but I doubt that.
It actually would work
Shut up, Amalthus
Jin made it 500 years. I'd give Nia that much at minimum
>Story, bro!
>While it throws all the good conventions the first game and X introduced in favour of Waifus and half of it's legendary blade cast being utterly useless due to DLC blade power creep.
I mean, atleast Xenoblade Chronicles X was straightforward with Ares 90 on it's "Here's your broken toy, now go destroy the Post-Game." thing, but in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 it's almost impossible to lose as long as you execute stuff correctly. Unless you were running game-breaking meme builds in X, all of the 60+ Tyrants (with the exception of maybe Barnabas) would wreck your shit without proper setup, resistances and builds. In comparison, you can run pretty much anything in 2 and still wreck stuff as long as you have a proper blade. 2 boils down to Elemental Orbs and Fusion Combos and that's pretty much where all the depth ends, it's a major step down in the gameplay department and anyone who has played 1 or X can easily attest to that. I'm seriously having a hard time understanding where the hate for especially X is coming for, it's easily the best in the series (albeit paced a bit poorly and requires a lot of investment), yet people can't seem to stop fellating 2. It's really weird.
Was Lora double playing Jin and Haze?
Stupid kora and her hot stupid ass
KEK CONTROL TO MAJOR MINGE
You (You)'d me despite my biggest problems with X being the music, characters and artstyle. Bad form.
It was slow, and completely unenjoyable due to the dumbass community thing. Only good thing about this game is I met a good friend through YouTube rofl
What sort of boyfriend would Nia take after Rex?
I think the lack of story content is the biggest and most valid complaint about X. I still really enjoyed what little there was and want a sequel. People are going to talk about 2 a lot because it's the one that's sold the most and therefore the one most people have played. I have no doubt that if X was ported to Switch you would see a lot more love for the game in general.
I like 1 more than X, but I like X more than 2. I don't know why but 2 just didn't click with me as much for some reason. Still like all 3 games.
>I think the lack of story content is the biggest and most valid complaint about X.
As far as I'm concerned, it's pretty much this. This is not what I expect from a Xeno. They should've called it something else, but not Xeno.
user, I'm one of those you you'd and I liked X. It was just the least interesting of the three for me. For me it was 1 > 2 > X.
My problems with X:
Music was seriously underwhelming for me. The stupidass lyrics in some of the pieces just made it worse.
Getting hit halfway across a map by a MELEE attack, while you have to be up a monster's butthole to hit it, pissed me off. Skell combat was, IMO, garbage.
"LET'S EAT TATSU" joke repeated over and over and over and over and over AND OVER. It wasn't funny the first time. It was even less funny each time after.
On the subject of Tatsu and Lin, I hated both of them, especially Tatsu. In fact, almost every side party member was vastly more interesting than Lin and Elma. Side party members that had almost no purpose existing whatsoever. They could have had the tiger guy or girl join as a main party member, and either one would have story relevance. Instead, they give you a silent fucking protag that had absolutely no character whatsoever, a cliche little girl, a mary sue, and a pointless as fuck nopon that didn't even fight.
The good writing was spent entirely on the side quests. Like, that's cool and all that the side quests were really good, but not when the main story suffers for it.
I feel it has more to do with the story being more structurally different. You had sidemissions sort of deepening the rest of the experience then you had absolutely zany stuff like Prof. B with all the Back to the Future references, Zaruboggans, Manon and their Pizza addiction etc etc...
It feels like a ton of effort went into creating the world in XB2 and making all sorts of stories to go with it, yet it feels like none of it had any context, pretext or any reason for being there. I don't care about Gormott because the place really won't evolve. You never see much of your actions affecting the world around you, while in X completing side missions added flair and new stuff into the city hub as well, stuff that's missable but it's there if you want to do it. XB2 had none of this, it was a pretty straightforward line from point A to point B, littered with mostly useless sidequests (or something having to deal with the growth of your Blade) lots of these sidequests really led to nothing (storywise), while in X you had plenty of chains which had downright weird (or hilarious consequences), like in The Good Thief where Phoskeran kind of accidentally saves the entire city from certain doom, or Predator & Prey where the Prones execute a bunch of the researchers in Sylvalum, leading to a couple of other sidemissions being unavailable unless completed earlier. There's so many examples and so much about 2 that just feels off, because it's pretending to have a semblance of a story and world yet it never really felt captivating to me. Like it's riding on the coat-tail of the earlier games that actually had some substance and they sort of raised another creation on top of the other games corpses.
Niall.
Probably a Gormotti.
OMG, IT'S TOO CUTE!!! CUTE!!!
Seriously, I wish she had more normal clothes, she already got a "Nice bod...", there's no need to flaunt.
CUUUUUUUTE!!!
Would Morag approve?
She said she doesn't like fur on her sensitive skin
>Instead, they give you a silent fucking protag that had absolutely no character whatsoever, a cliche little girl, a mary sue, and a pointless as fuck nopon that didn't even fight.
As opposed to a walking JRPG protagonist caricature that has absolutely no character, whatsoever, a cliche cat girl, a mary sue blade and a pointless as fuck nopon that fights with a Waifurobot?
I find it confusing that people conviently decide to sidestep all the good things in X and it's narrative simply because most of the stuff isn't spoonfed on a constant basis. One of Xenoblade 2's biggest problems with narrative is exactly it's "on the nose" approach. Why have mysteries, a cohesive and functional world and all the creatures inhabiting it, when you can have a fractured nonsense of setpieces, with even larger sets of caricature characters walking in it. I mean, characters like Jin, Malos and Amalthus felt so weird because their motivations and overall goals were so batshit stupid to begin with, atleast the villains (and there were a ton!) in X had very clear motives, some of which were also left open as a sequel hook. 2 just plays it's cards so safe and it seems to work for people who want stories where they don't really have to piece much stuff together, just enjoying the ride of the Shonen protagonist and his friends beating the evil dudes with the power of friendship vs. A survival story on a foreign planet, or heck if we wanna go in that angle even 1 had a better premise mostly due to it's world building and plot progression being more cohesive (and sidequests also mattering).
It needed more Nia
>As opposed to a walking JRPG protagonist caricature that has absolutely no character, whatsoever, a cliche cat girl, a mary sue blade and a pointless as fuck nopon that fights with a Waifurobot?
No one's claiming Rex isn't garbage, if they are then they're retarded.
I didn't care for Nia or Pyra either, all three brought the story down. Though to be fair, the waifufaggotry was one of the main detractors of this game for me in general.
Tora at least was a good character, and his waifubot was hands down one of the best characters in the game, and she was a vastly better character than any of X's cast.
Jin and Malos were also fine. Amalthus I'll give you. A lot of the villains in X were bumfuck retarded too, user. Don't even try to act like their goals had some deep meaning.
My point is for me, the good of 2 makes up for its bad, whereas the bad of X outweighs its good. I've played 1 multiple times, I've played 2 twice. I played X once and never touched it again because I had zero interest in it by the time I beat it. You can tout it as much as you want as some pretentious piece of intelligent work, but at the end of the day, the game was nowhere near as fun for me as 1 or 2, which is the most important part of a VIDEO GAME. You may disagree, that's fine, we can have our own fucking opinions, as much as it seems to confuse you.
>Tora was a good character
>Nia brought the story down
actually retarded
>mfw the trailer theme ended up being Malos' boss theme that was actually a remix of Amalthus' boss theme
youtube.com
Loved the implications in the music
Nia was the highlight of the story for me
XC2 had a shit ton of unique side quests that only unlock after the story progresses. Ton of dialogue and some visual changes as well. Maybe return to previous towns once in a while?
>Malos's theme during the Aegis War is a remix of Amalthus's theme
>Malos's theme at the end of XB2 has part of Counterattack mixed in
there's some sort of pottery here but I can't put my finger on it
Every Xeno game has a mediocre storyline unless you're into trash anime. If you play these games for the story, you must be a complete retard.
Based
I'm playing X for the first time right now
I'm on chapter 10 and holy fuck has everything slowed to a crawl
how the hell do I get money properly
Nia didn't get shafted in XC2. Takahashi personally made sure Nia got a happy ending with NG+.
strawpoll.me
I want to see how many people really see it that way?
It would of been as good as the main game but Torna's combat kinda sucks
Still good though
Honestly if XC2 had the same narrative tone that Torna had it would have been the best JRPG made in at least 15 years
Best boy.
Torna's tone was inconsistent as fuck. Tries to be lighthearted like the base game when you know everyone is getting a bad ending
Research probes I think but yeah the game in general gets grindy to the end
Torna's tone was easily the most disappointing part of the game. It felt absolutely nothing like it should've.
>"LET'S EAT TATSU" joke repeated over and over and over and over and over AND OVER. It wasn't funny the first time. It was even less funny each time after.
It is a running gag. You guys are overreacting over a joke. The tatsu and Lin relationship was pretty realistic with the jokes and fighting. That's how children act in rl
The worst part is how it also harms the main game. We see Mythra is guilt ridden over Milton's death but it was Malos who killed him. They should've gone all the way and had Mythra be the one who causes Milton's death, but I guess that would've hurt her waifu appeal
>there are people unironically hoping for a Definitive Edition for a game that came out this generation
holy shit you triple niggers fuck off
I loved the re-arrangement of The Power Of Jin at the end too. It's the perfect mix of ominous and sad.
Milton didn't exist before the DLC. Maingame Mythra is ridden with guilt over all the destruction and death that resulted from the fall of three Titans (something that was attributed to both Aegises before Torna decided that Malos sunk one entirely on his own, Judicium apparently doesn't exist, and Torna was the only one damaged by them both), not just the death of one kid who was closer to her.
>In the course of a lifetime, a man will see uncountable meetings and partings. Yet as your life's candle sputters and dies, whose face is it that rises to greet you? Happy is the man that can sleep in the comfort of the smile he sees then.
>No, I don't wish for "forever." Even for just one moment, it's enough if it's with her. And yet what is the man to do that has not been afforded that chance?
>The road stretches on without end. I can not but walk down it. As long as I keep walking, I can hold that hope that one day, the time may come when I see her smile again. That hope keeps me afloat.
How could they possibly improve on perfection?
It's disappointing because I would've liked them to come up with the details for TOrna before doing the story of 2
More Nia
>It's disappointing because I would've liked them to come up with the details for TOrna before doing the story of 2
They did.
Then they tacked on a bunch of extra crap to make it a dlc scenario.
A lot of obvious shit is missing if they came up with it before hand. As one user already noted, we only see 1/3 sunk titans
>no Blade Nia skin for Driver Nia
literally one fucking job and they fucked up with the skins
nia teaches typing dlc
I'm guessing it's because of the hair/ear physics. Such a waste
M
We see 2/3, Temperantia and Torna. (Yes, Temperantia technically isn't 'sunk', but from what I remember Malos uses that word for it in Japanese for some reason).
But we don't see it in the Torna DLC
Everyone having a good time? Keeping it legal in here I hope.
CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!
Mythraisshit/10
My blade is the cutest little cannibal ever!
you're a cunt and you walk like a gay penguin
Torna is a fun expansion that I can only see myself playing once due to the absolutely fucking retarded Community Level system.
>Do such a poor job developing your romance that you need to try and fix it in NG+
>People still can't agree on the final pairing in a game that was supposed to be a story of "Boy Meets GIrl"
Adding a bonus title screen isn't "fixing" anything.
Which is why I said "try"
Never got to it, the base game turned me away hard.
Does it fix any of the problems with the base game? I can't get over the fact that despite there being all these upgrade trees, combat never changes no matter what you do.
You'd probably like the Tornan combat more, but I love the base game combat so I hate Torna's
>Switch successor is in the same architecture, so Monolith Soft don't have to learn new systems
>have all the time they need to polish it to its full glory
God damnit
XB2 was so much fun and it's so raw in terms of showing its weak areas
Some day, we'll get to see it
>redone dub voice acting for the major cutscenes OR proper japanese subtitle options
This is the one that I think would be the biggest value, at least in the west.
>added/changed cutscenes to better flesh out some story sections, such as more signs of Pyra's/Mythra's PTSD, slower comeback for Rex after being defeated by Jin, more foreshadowing for the Third Aegis Sword, make the post credit scene feel less like an asspull, etc
This too
>That one outclassed Blade you use due to favoritism
What's their name Yea Forums?
less bitrate starved
It's actually fairly likely
XB2 is a big reason Monolith Soft is how it is now, it'll likely be seen by them as the 'fan favorite' game, like how FF7 and FFXV are seen by SquEnix today
It will definitely be milked for all its worth, we have to have faith user
I absolutely am, O great Praetor. Thanks for your guidance.
Seriously, I don't understand how people can stand blatantly innaccurate subs, such as in moments like this
youtube.com
You already posted her. I make it work for Custom difficulty Challenges but BoC is out of the question
You already posted her
Normally I'd agree with you but XB2 was practically amputated in terms of cut content, mechanics and ideas.
The discrepancy between the original and a 'definitive' version with more budget/time/polish is pretty significant
>Level 4
No, it's all about the level 1
Having Malos be both the first and last boss you face was really great.
It's such a common method in RPGs but it gets me every time
Based and commonpilled
>even the common blades have fanart
truly, xb2 broke the curse
I think of the commons got a lewd panel or two in a doujin as well.
I want an ending where Jin joins Rex's harem.
Finch is my precious daughter and I won't accept anyone saying anything mean about her.
SHIELD HAMMER
I just don't understand the popularity of that stupid burd
I always interpreted it differently
I saw Malos as being bound by Amalthus' influence but he also lacked the baggage that Amalthus had from his childhood and past. This meant that Malos had raw, unmitigated misanthropy for all mankind, including himself (where Amalthus' ego found ways to protect himself from acknowledging he's just as bad as everyone else).
Malos regularly laments that he acts and does shit on a compulsion that he doesn't fully understand, but it's only in the end of the game that he acknowledges that he doesn't care if it's Amalthus' influence or not that drove him to want to destroy mankind because he found his OWN hatred at the world to act as his catalyst..
When he says there was only one driver for him, I thought he meant Jin as the person whose life motivated him more than anything else
First Rare ever shown off
I want them to retcon Xenoblade 2 starting at the end of chapter 7 to have Malos give half of his core to Jin, just like how Pyra did to Rex, to prevent him from turning into dust so the final boss can be them wielding each other's swords so Malos can achieve his super form too and have lightning speed reality warping Monado fights with Rex
Oh shit, that'd be great.
It'd let you do a lot of interesting shit
>Malos offers Jin half of his core, maybe make some dialogue parallels to when Rex and Pyra met
Also
>wielding each other's swords
that's gay, do it
There was a lot to like about Torna. I liked the revised combat which totally fit the whole theme of the game. The characters were also great and that ending was amazing.
But I also felt Torna wasn't the deep dive in the game's lore as I was hoping. The game's locations were pretty limited, especially when they could have explored more Titans, especially the dead ones. The whole part about being force to do side quests to progress through the game was unforgivable.
>Imagine Malos on a freighter yelling at Mythra.
>Nia gives Malos cancer in the story
>In gameplay Malos is actually a ridiculously effective counter to Blade Nia
>Torna is literally "Everyone Shits on Mytrha: The Game"
And i like it for it .
Why was Addam such a bitch?
Because he didn't embrace the full power of his world ending blade like Rex did.
>one of their boomer uncles recognizes Nomura's style from FF7 and asks about the game
