DNF 2001

if anyone has the build and is planning to leak it, i'd do it now, gearbox is too busy fucking off with borderlands 3 at the moment to give a shit, DO IT, QUICK. WHILE THERE'S STILL TIME.

Nigga, you'll be dissapointed with that game
Also, stop spamming these threads every month. It won't happen

i'll do whatever i goddamn well please, shut your black ass up

Based.

This still looks so unbelievably better than what eventually happened. I remember seeing this for the first time back when it just came out and was hyped as fuck.

yep.... would've been the BEES KNEES

Attached: 49.png (1280x1024, 755K)

Worse still, the game is still on multiple devs private drives, and they're being stopped from releasing it by Gearbox's lawyers/Randy.

just gotta do it anonymously is all, best time would be NOW since they're distracted with borderlands 3

Maybe we should crowedfund to get a hacker group to yank it from someone.

man what is it about the aesthetic in DNF2001 that is so good? something about that version of Unreal just clicks for me

the graphics, they're impeccable.

Attached: 70.jpg (500x375, 22K)

They're like peak 2000-era graphics

ikr? they used real life photographs as textures, especially for the environments & character models, they look fucking incredible

I'm telling you guys, if City of Heroes can be pried out of the hands of some Argie cuck who had a secret private server then eventually some based boomer dev will deliver.

It's like Mafia 1 and 2 graphics, or GTA SA, I really enjoy that kind of stuff.

Attached: 1558761748421.jpg (718x574, 168K)

Can anyone suggest me games that would be like DNF2001? I really enjoy games with like, extra interactivity and details- games that really feel lived in and where YOU can take your part in that, even when you're supposed to go around shooting everything. Every single game I've tried to play like that has been severely disappointing, however:
>Duke 3D
>TimeSplitters 1 & 2
>Half-Life 1 & 2
>Postal 2

Mafia 1 had a weirdly "alive" feeling world. I guess I was comparing it to gta3 at the time which was blurry and cartoonish.

fuckin ' right.

OR max payne 1! can't forget these!

>george broussard
He didn't just run 3DR into the ground, he lost the entire IP as well.

From what they say now it's 90% done. Needs some bridging maps between plot points. Probably stuff you could edit around really

Possibly the fallout or metro games, there's a decent amount of interactivity in those

fuckin guy just needs to get shot in the head

No.

U mad Yea Forums?

I'm not a fan of Metro but I love Fallout. Especially 2 has pretty high levels of fun interactivity. I was specifically asking for FPS or TPS games though. Unironically, Uncharted has been like the only series like this that I've enjoyed, because there's a lot of high octane moments but after you're done shooting you have all the time in the world to slowly walk around and examine stuff and interact with something and soak in as much as possible and the devs actually plan on it

That's been posted before

It's not like 3DR was able to do much without him. Prey was lost because nobody on 3DR's side read the contract. Rise of the Triad was a rough product. Bombshell was a hot mess. Most Devolver/Gambitious/whatever kickstarter knockoff they made had lackluster indie games. Ion Maiden is a good product despite the controversy around it.

We get it, user. They could have shit in the box and it still would have sold gangbusters.

Red Fraction 1 and 2 kind of remind me of it

YUP

I don't get it. After seeing how well Ion Fury did, surely they realized they could release 2001 Duke in it's current state and it would sell like hotcakes. No graphics updates or reworking needed.

So why not do it?

Attached: index.png (225x225, 4K)

randy is a fucking retard who told everyone he jerks off to teenage porn

>So why not do it?
A lot of people at 3DR wanted to do it. They couldn't do it legally like lameduke because the various 2001 builds had a shitload of legal licenses and other agreements that have to be dealt with first. They would have had to have tied contracts for engines, middlewars, and other things before sending it out.

If someone wants to leak Prey 2 as well, that'd be great.

There was a guy who posted his discord here but that was in another thread, he should do it again

by all accounts, there wasn't much of a game there

don't remind me.

dsogaming.com/articles/the-2001-unreal-engine-version-of-duke-nukem-forever-was-90-complete-had-rpg-and-horror-elements/

bullshit

this is new information to me

sorry but im not a fan of any of those games. i havent played titanfall 2 though, nor NOLF beyond maybe an hour. like on paper i should like these games, but the moment-to-moment gameplay is just so dull and oftentimes unimaginative.

i even tried to go back to Deus Ex and whether you sneak or fight or do whatever, it's just so unsatisfying. I though Ion Fury was a half-decent game though, I enjoyed running around interacting with everything and the shooting was pretty good

Attached: 1565586608486.jpg (1050x510, 86K)

just QUIT wasting everyone's time and fuckin leak dnf 2001 already, we've waited long enough ffs

welp
>havent played titanfall 2
it's has a nice campaign. some people have compared to HL because of its linear yet highly interactive campaign. with fun weapons, companions and a nice time travel mechanic
>NOLF
i guess i was wrong there. it has smooth gameplay and really good looking levels but not so much interactivity

maybe you should try Prey (2006) or even the new Prey youtube.com/watch?v=zpQRePtEpRw

>Brutal half life
Holy fuck that looks great. When's it coming out?

Anyone else ever play that Die Hard FPS? I only ever played it at a friends house a long time but this thread brought up the memory of it

don't really know. there's a small beta here with the half life campaign, quake's first level and i think doom's too. and also a bunch of new weapons. the video i posted is a trailer for an upcoming update.
the playable beta is a bit clunky but really fun and brutal.

Seriously, why the fuck didn't they just release it?

It still looks fucking good if you ask me.

This game was great. I spent many hours on the multiplayer too.

I enjoyed it for the budget game it was for the time. Reviewers tried to bag on it for being a big budget title and using Lithtech (which was associated with cheapshit games at the time).

Strangely enough, this was developed by Piranha Games, which is actually the same guys as Jarhead Game, the people behind Marine Sharpshooter and other dreck.

This game was so good. I don't understand how they got it so wrong with 2010.

Attached: sanity aikens artifact_front.jpg (234x280, 22K)

thanks user. i'll try titanfall if my PC cant muster up to run it and ill give NOLF another shot

3DR can't release this. But what if they make a new Unreal 1 game from scratch like IF and Wrath (on their respective engine) but reuse DN2001's gameplay and weapons and map layout?
Randy Pedofort won't notice

no.

pic is a repost from a few years ago, but as a massive unreal1fag it looks like it could be a legit file list. the dsw file to me is a dead giveaway that it might be a legit pic. there's really only a handful of people that even know how to compile native mods against unreal, and probably fewer that even used vs6.0

t. spent way too much time programming for unreal 1 mods and a patch

it IS a legit pic, it comes from the guy who owns the newer shittier 3d realms frederick schriber, his dumbass just took a picture of his directory from his build

just imagining how many lost and cancelled games that are in a playable state that we'll never see makes me sick honestly

the unreal 1 community is autistic as fuck and has discovered a handful of betas, 2 cancelled games, etc. most of the betas are playable, one cancelled game (PSX version of unreal) was playable after porting it to unreal 1, with some slight modifications to the map if only because UE1 sucks balls at bsp generation

the second cancelled game was xcom alliance, which was not really playable without putting pieces together. i think some beta dude on youtube did the work of slapping it together and made it at least marginally playable. that or he got a more mature build than I had my hands on

if you're actually pretty good at Unreal1 shit, and say DNF 2001 DID come out, could you fix any issues the game would have? like glitches or crashes n shit?

yeah, easily. if the original source files (c++ files, imports for all the .u/.utx/etc packages) are there, then literally anything can be fixed. this probably won't happen unless someone steals one of randy's CP ridden flash drives with the source

if the original source files are missing and bugs are in the C++ code (like in a standard release) then it's a serious pain in the ass but at least it seems the editor is there, so most/all unrealscript bugs can be fixed

heh wow that's pretty cool to hear, cause from what i've heard from other people that DO have the build, some textures are abit screwy, there's sometimes these polygon "artifacts" that come up randomly and it makes the models look messed up, and i think it crashes a few times too, but if it can all be fixed that'd be amazing, cause there's alot of shit to mess with from the people who have it talked about it.

sounds like busted UVs and jankily imported models, but I do know that DNF probably isnt using the normal renderer anymore so it could be anything. shit like that happened in unreal 1 if you imported a gigantic model and didn't scale it down in the import call

heh i'm suprised you know about UV's aswell, that's interesting to hear about the models ' being fucked too, if you have an alt discord account or one you don't use, i could tell you a few other things about the DNF build that i've been told before, it'd be interesting to hear how they could n fixed n shit actually
