Fucking this. What's wrong with Bingo? Trish barely is fleshed out, Kyrie is a cookie cutter of a character, and Lady isn't the stone cold tough girl she was in 3 (she's still the best female character though). And now we have Patty that seems the same as the anime, and Lucia who is nice to Dante and that's it.

That aside the girls aren't really intended to be playable characters. If DMC 2 wasn't such a dumpster fire Lucia would actually get alot more fleshing out and probably become a fan favourite.
The way DMC is going or the route they've already taken and the amount of "development" they put into the current cast u don't see any female characters being able to penetrate the storyline other than Lucia.

They keep adding new characters and barely giving tiny nuggets of personality to the returning ones. Lady trying to talk Nero out of killing his dad and Trish's interaction with V is interesting but they don't go anywhere in the end.

Seriously, you can even see in the anime how both Trish and Lady go and buy their clothes, but we barely see them wear anything like that in the games. Vergil has an excuse at least.

The delevopers have come so far they'd be afraid to tarnish their IP unless they have something really good to give. With the way they left off with Dante and Vergil in hell I bet their safest bet is to flesh out Vergil's combat and have the next game Dante, Nero and Vergil doing whatever they manage to pull out their asses. The story will probably suck but they'll have the gameplay carry it.

I think a Lady-centric game would have to play VERY differently to feel satisfying. It'd have to be something closer to Vanquish or Resi 6 to get in all her cool dodge and shoot moves she does in cutscenes. She's just not a powerhouse like the rest of the cast.

Being a genuine fan of any DMC female character is suffering, but jeez being a LADY fan is literally defeat after defeat.

This is the biggest sin of DMC4. DMC5's both Trish and Lady are a huge step up from their DMC4 counterparts. DMC3's Lady is still the best Lady though.

I never liked her design or general look in 4. Aside from the fact it doesn't suit her tomboyish thing to have her boobs hanging out, there's just something about her face and hair that I don't like.

Well, there's that line in 3's epilogue where she says she wants to make sure someone like her father never comes about again, and I've always wondered if Arkham was part of a larger secret society at one point, or that there probably are a lot of independent black magicians in the DMC universe with their own delusions of grandeur, so it would be cool to have her hunting down someone across the country. Like, the buy probably isn't THAT dangerous, and she's irrationally dogged about finding and killing him due to her own baggage.
Likewise, she manages to find out about the Order of the Sword independently, and I think there's a story behind that. Even a game where each mission is a self-contained story or job with an overarching villain in the background who she keeps finding hints of. Shit, maybe the twist at the end is that all the "clues" she's picking up on her jobs actually don't lead to anything, and she's been building this imaginary villain in her head because she's fixated on her father. Just spitballing ideas here.
I just love Lady and want to see more of her, whatever that is. I get more of a sense of her having a life outside of the games than any other supporting character.
