It's clearly a better than World but I'm still bored.
Why is this? I'm annoyed at the story, cutscenes and the handler but I can't really point at anything that makes it boring to me, but it just is.

Alot of the new monsters are agile fuckers. As a Bow user I feel the exact opposite. I feel like I have no damage because every monster has only two bow damage weakpoints and it's always their tiny head or tiny tail.

Just start with the most basic bitch armour, that's always the way when you get to a new rank. The increased defense will serve you best for now, you need to be able to survive if you want to get better armour.
And traps aren't just for capturing monsters, don't be afraid to use them if you need to keep a monster still

World Longsword is full of long useless animations, Valor Longsword actually made you properly parry attacks.

Iceborne LS feels so much better than any previous game in my opinion. The Iai attacks speed up the weapon in general so much and while it's not quite a parry, it does have a special dodge attack that's functionally the same

The damage a monster takes from poison depends on the monster and rank, your poison attack stat just makes it easier to inflict poison

I don't like being locked into animations like the Helmsplitter to do all our damage.

It also makes Element or Status Longswords a bit shit.

The worst low rank slog I've ever seen in MonHun to compensate the vast amount of content. Still serviceable, not sure how online is going.

If we're still comparing it to world its nowhere near as bad as tracking Pinkian and the Elders.

Excellent, but still has some of the annoying trappings of old monster hunter. Also hands you a few too many helpful tools that makes it so the game's difficulty ramp is a little funky, where it only really gets hard when monsters start obliterating you in one shot and are aggressive enough to actually hit you. The game is almost always on sale so you can get it cheap and try it out for yourself.

Generations emulates pretty well on Citra if you have decent specs. My rom actually runs a little fast on gathering missions too, which is an added bonus since I can finish them faster.

Anyone else feel like ranged attack hitzones in Iceborne have fucking vanished?

Trying to kill blackveil Vaal Hazak and his hitzones are his tiny ass head which you want to avoid like the plague and ONE small spot on his tail.

Fair enough. I always found it rather satisfying to have the rhythm of your attacks build until you end in a big finisher, especially with the new attacks. Even if it's not optimal, going from the spirit slashes into the Iai spirit slash into the helmsplitter feels really good, but that's just me.

I can't speak for the bowguns, but now feels like it's been soft nerfed in general going into IB. Trying to aim for weak points became so slow that I started to wonder if I should just be spamming body shots instead of wasting time trying to aim.

I don't mind tempo increasing combos, I just don't like them being large static UNGA DAMAGE attacks like Helmsplitter; Remove Helmsplitter and keep the ia spirit attacks and I'd probably agree.

Thousand Dragons is definitely worth using on downed monsters, I've tried Dragon Piercer a few times in IB and it does more damage than I remember. I've also taken to using the arc shot more to open up more chances to hit the weak points accurately

Good luck unlocking everything you need to sustain the endgame farming without doing all those Prowler and gathering quests

XX feels alright on a 2DS
The constant 30fps isn't so bad since its consistent in both solo and multiplayer and you can use the touch screen to look around too
Then again you could just emulate it on Citra and play with the multiplayer mod or something

The most accessible mh is world, but 4u comes in as most accessible classic mh. Honestly I say you can start either 4u or XX/GU, up to you.

It does feel like Iceborne is bringing back a few things from the older entries. Secret starting zones usually inaccessible where you can mine armor spheres, arguably MonHun speak with that babbling cat grandma cook, and a few minor things I forgot about.

The only thing I kinda regret is the number of unique weapon designs, even though I don't miss the vibrant neon retarded anime design of some of them.

I played World first, then got this, and like it just as much. It's more challenging and has more variety in armor, weapons, monsters, and locales. There's a mind-blowing amount of content. Don't feel like you have to clear every single quest in order. Find a few people to play with, too. It's an amazing game.

I've got about 50 games in my backlog and a Switch. I don't have as much time to play games as I use to.
