Chrono Trigger

How would Yea Forums feel about a CT remake? Everyone is wanking over 7 remake, but let's not forget which classic jrpg is king.

I don't want squeenix to ruin it, too.
Just let it be timeless.

only if it was done by the team who translated dragon quest XI from the 3ds to PC

7 is king. That's why it's getting the remake.
As for CT, you would want Arcsys to sprinkle their dark graphical magic on the classic game.

>which classic jrpg is king

FFVII

CT has a far weaker story and even simpler gameplay. Ironically though CT's battle system would be better served by one where you had the option to move.

>square would probably use 4d scanned in actors
No thanks.

But why? It still plays just fine to this day.

Why not update with Dragon Quest visuals? I agree that it still plays fine to this very day, but the game is iconic and deserving of a remake.

What would they remake? The only thing you could improve upon would be focusing the final boss battle a little. Still have the three fights, but have them all be parts of Lavos instead of the shell, the inner, and the space inside with a robot team.

Any other change would be pointless.

Only if yuji horii and his team are involved

i would love it. Please do it.

You could remake alot of things in Chrono Trigger. Pretty much all the eras are undeveloped (especially pre-historic and zeal), future era is fairly pointless and has no ties to the plot, all the late-game side quests just use palette swapped areas and enemies
Characters are pretty simple too and could do some with development

no need to ruin something perfect

They could add a hard mode. As fun as CT is, it's one of the easiest JRPGs around. All those combination attacks sit there unused and megalixirs keep piling up in your backpack, while you plow through the entire game with that one Crono+Ayla skill.

not a fan, eh? ps4 dragon quest looks amazing, but I won't fight you on it.

There's quite a large chunk of planned story and areas they had to remove as they were getting rushed near the end of development. Singing Mountain, that ancient Zeal fortress underneath the Forest Ruins, etc.
Seeing some of that restored would be great.

The future era shows the aftermath of the threat Lavos represents. You literally learn about the main villain's existence and when in history the apocalypse will come and what the stakes are. You couldn't be more wrong.

And the characters being simple is a positive as the story isn't character driven beyond simple broad goals that all tie into fighting Lavos. Imagine Square Enix rewriting these characters today.

The lazy enemies are a weakness, but remaking the game would just mean they model swap instead of palette swapping. All the enemies are basically just a set of numbers, a basic wandering pattern, and a few minor special abilities. There's very little making different enemies would bring to the late game, although it would be a slight improvement.

This would be nice. I'd rather they do it as just a port with the hard mode option.

Nothing you do in the future in relation to the robots/hobos has any relation to the plot, seeing it's just going to be overwritten when you change the future anyway. It makes Robo just feel like a pointless character with no ties to the story

Okay? Who cares about what happens after the game ends? Robo joins the party to defeat Lavos and the game ends when you complete that mission. This point you're trying to argue is retarded.

In any piece of fiction, side stories should be tied to the main story in some meaningful way otherwise they just feel like filler
2300 AD is pretty much filler, but you don't really realize this until you're replaying the game

So introducing the villain and showing the devastation that it is capable of is filler because you keep calling it that.

>weaker story
>MUH EDGE

no, user. Chrono Trigger has a much superior story about the rise and fall of civilizations. FF7 has mommy issues, industrialization and other bio weapon bullshit that belongs in Resident Evil.

no, but that's not exactly a plot point. It could have happened anywhere. I'm not saying having a future era is a bad idea, it's just the only ties to the rest of the games plot is the guy who built the epoch

Name one remake that didn't suck.

REmake

So play the original. Some of us would like an updated Chrono Trigger.

Honestly one of the more retarded opinions I've read on this site.

All they have to do is release it for modern systems without those shitty phone filters. Gae is perfect as is. A game that actually needs a remake is cross so they can fix the story and actually make it a true sequel

Oath in Felghana
Tactics Ogre LUCT
Tales of Destiny Director's Cut

i don't care, i'm gonna play the original anyway when i get to it

Remakes are for fags

if it get's censored like FF7 I wouldn't want it

Let me know when JRPGs have some genuine gameplay

>that ancient Zeal fortress underneath the Forest Ruins
tell me more

>Tactics Ogre LUCT

That's a port you nipshit.

A simple 2d to 3d remake would be pretty cool for CT desu
Don't have to rework/make anything else

FPBP

anything and everything will get monkeypaw'd there is no such thing as passionate game development sticking true to the source material or creators vision

>Remake CT
Why would want that, are you a retard ? A remake wouldn't bring anything new or interesting without changing the overall plot and pacing of the game.

They won't because their fanbase is holding them back. Good turn based combat is possible, but doing it well would involve throwing away all of the standard JRPG conventions like stat increases through leveling up, accumulating healing items etc. in order to make something that would actually be possible to balance and make challenging. The fans basically don't want this because they prefer the satisfaction of watching their characters increase in brute power over all that.

I don't need one, because those remakes usually make the games look uglier and remove the soul from them.

The new DQ artstyle with that shit overblown OC is ugly as fuck, they should have use something close to the GG art style.

Wouldn't want it.

With FFVII there were tons of things that I felt could've been changed or improved. While somewhat impressive at the time, the character models clashed horribly with the backgrounds, in which that could've been blended better. The translation was also all over the place, with the story becoming a bit of an incomprehensible mess in spots. Finally, the combat could've used a bunch of improvements, as the materia system could make every character just their limit break, and combat became either piss easy in normal encounters or requiring game-breaking materia combos for optional bosses.

FFVII always had a potential for a remake. While I don't like the action-focused route they've chosen, FFVII always felt like it could've been cleaned up. Chrono Trigger doesn't feel that way. The art style is consistent and beautiful, the combat is fluid with characters having their own skills that worked well with others, the story is well told, and generally everything comes together in a product that holds up today just as well as it did when it came out.

Chrono Trigger doesn't need a remake. In fact, I feel it could actively damage what the original had seeing how they're turning the FFVII remake into an action-based retelling of the original's story. There are few games I'd say can be left alone. Chrono Trigger is one of them.

Why the skinny ass spaghetti arms?

crono is a kid

crono was buffed since the beginning of the game

dream sequence. he woke up and had little stick arms.

square has irrational hatred for the series for some reason

T. Contrarian retard

anyone ITT play star ocean? I've heard good things but i'd like Yea Forums's advice. you guys told me to stay away from persona 5, but I still played it and regretted it. i'll start listening now.
