the concept of "Diablo but an FPS!" is an incredibly fun one, it is just executed horribly constantly, both Destiny and Borderlands are complete failures at it.

Everything in the game is just some passive ability, you get one fucking active on a minute long cooldown, it's trash. Where's my resource management? Where's my multiple builds? Where's inventory management? LOLNOPE just have nothing but passive upgrades in all the trees.

Splitscreen on ps4 is a laggy fuckfest, every single character is a woman to the point shes even wondering why, majority of guns suck, have found maybe 2 I've enjoyed using in 20 hours of play. The bosses suck, the villains suck, it looks like shit. I chose the operative and he isnt fun at all. Wait until it's only $20

Problem not being so much that crackers are having a hard time with it, but the fact that they're having a hard time with it, because it is UNBELIEVABLY INTRUSIVE.

Rundown of what I got out of it:
Basically, the BL3 Denuvo implementation is running the entire executable in a VM/runtime - sort of like Java VMs - which has a dynamic mapping of VM opcodes to actual x86 opcodes, determined by your PC's unique hardware configuration. The entire game; not just a few piracy-sensitive routines.

It apparantly communicates all the time (always online) to a server backend at a somewhat steady 2MBit/s upload. If the DRM detects fluctuation in the transfer speed which exceeds given threshold, it thinks its being tampered with and will panic force-close the game.

It also is doing things like locking up mouse cursors outside the control of the game, which indicate it may be monitoring system-wide user input.

It's part of the new Denuvo implementation.
BL3's Denuvo runs the entire executable inside a Java-like virtual machine / runtime, which requires constant connection to a server backend, seemingly streaming data needed to perform code decryption/translation from VM opcodes to actual x86 opcodes. Denuvo throws a fit if your upload fluctuates beyond a certain threshold and will force-close the executable. The idea there is that it becomes hardware to attach network sniffers to analyze what it's doing and break its protection. Ofcourse; it also screws legitimate users that have flaky upload.

Next to that, there are strong indicators that BL3's Denuvo is hooked into and is monitoring user input in a system-wide manner. E.g. it can cause the hardware mouse cursor to lock up for seconds on end _outside_ of the executable.

If any data captured by this system-wide monitoring is actually shared with the server back-end; we don't know.

We'll probably pick it up at some point, but it's crazy how we went from foaming at the mouth for a sequel years back, to a mentality of, "I'll get it when I get it," upon its actual release.

Because buying a game (especially one that's AAA) on day one is retarded. The Handsome Collection (BL2, BL:TPS, and all the DLC for both games) is CURRENTLY worth over $200 if you buy everything in it separately. Together as a bundle, it's just under $60. I got it on sale for around $6.
And not only that, but by buying late, you avoid having to wait for bugs to get patched out or wasting money on a possibly inferior product.
I might buy an indie title on day one, but never AAA.

I never played BL1 or 2 but decided to buy 3 out of curiosity. It didn't really appeal to me at all despite going in expecting the story to not even be worth talking about whatsoever. Even focusing on a pure gameplay perspective, I still didn't enjoy it. Everything's bullet sponged to fuck, the humor is really awful, and the tedium of constantly changing out guns just didn't hook me. As soon as I got to Sanctuary and ran around the ship doing fetch quests for ten minutes for that disgusting hamplanet NPC, I quit and refunded.

BL3 has better guns, better skill trees and better loot/coop systems. BL2 has a better plot even though I didn't like either. I get the feeling they're going to put a lot of effort into the DLC this time since all their other stuff bombed.
