my biggest problem with most triple A western games are that it feels like as much "freedom" as they try to give you they always make the act of moving around feel super limited, Red Dead 2's movement is the equivelent of being on a platform in mario 64 and mario half circle turning into the fucking pit the entire game.

Spider-man ps4 also felt really limited in what the game wanted you to do to feel "cool", honestly its only really a problem in those kinda games. Big open world or more "cinematic" games, even when they focus mainly on gameplay.

Meanwhile games like mario odyssey control like a god damn dream but have some pretty average content that doesn't make use of how good the game feels to play. Idk man, most games don't play themselves but a lot of the more hyped triple A western open world titles do. It's just something I don't like.

You were also reasonably certain the part you were stuck at had a solution and wasn't one of many areas where the game broke and progress became impossible.

There are a lot of crappy indie games but you'll probably have more like finding a good one with them. The last few games I played and really liked were indie games that took a lot of inspiration from older games but didn't just try to copy them. Otherwise just play older games, I spend more time doing that now, but still sometimes find an old gem I missed.

I miss the good old days when every single chest you opened in an rpg was trapped and you were expected to keep your own quest journal and draw out maps :^( I also miss the non-traditional level progression or strange rules these old games used to have, every rpg is the same now when it comes to progression.
