Is pic related a good game?
Is pic related a good game?
Yup.
yes
Very
Yes.
>PAL
No.
NTSC version is though.
yes
>is the greatest game ever created good?
It's good but VASTLY overrated
bait
Yep.
It was "good for its time".
So no.
What about it is wrong?
Yuffiep
sure, but how's the Xbox One version?
This is a very minimal, and kind of shit, thread so I'll do you a favor and expand a bit here.
It's probably one of the best jRPGs ever made (RPGs in general too). I only played this as an adult, so I don't have nostalgia goggles on or anything I assure you.
The limit break mechanic is a very fun twist on things, even though it's a tad exploitable. It has just enough side quests and such that you wanna go out in the world and do em, but not so much that you feel overwhelmed with trivial bullshit.
The materia system is also really fun and I haven't found another Final Fantasy mechanic that I like more.
The best thing about the game is the story. It's complicated and has some room for headcanon, but it's not complex just for the sake of complexity. Moreover, it has numerous twists, most notably the very famous death scene of course.
Atop of that, which I don't see mentioned enough, is it's trope subversion.
The joke character betrays you.
A heroic, cool, and calm skilled super soldier becomes the big bad and batshit insane.
Cloud, a super soldier himself is actually delusion and full of shit, and was just a grunt till a mild experiment gave him mako eyes.
Your healer dies suddenly, leaving you without one for the rest of the game and making you distribute cure materia's around to compensate.
If I could improve some things, maybe ease up on missable, but important, gear. Also a lot of the ultimate weapons are kinda inferior to non-ultimate versions. You don't want to use cloud's ultimate weapon in fights where you can get reduced to low hp with one ability such as the final battle.. Moreover others have good benefits, but they ultimately don't outweigh the lack of links.
The version I played, which I think definitive, is the PC version with music replaced + the "beacause" fan translation. The "beacause" patch on PS1 Rom is probably cool too.
IX is better.
G.O.A.T.
(digits confirm btw)
I'm gonna post this even though it is probably just a bait thread. While sales did not indicate what the best games were, if a game got good sales during Gen 5 or earlier, then the game was most likely good. Gen 6 is when the normalfags came in and started flocking to shitty games like flies to honey. If the influx of Gen 6 didn't happen, FFX would have been considered bad then bumped up to decent once people saw how bad these games can really get with shit like FFXIII. Instead we have a fair number of retards that try to argue that FFX is the best thing ever.
XIII is better than X, shitlord
Only the first disc
In what way? It's mechanics are far worse, characters less likeable, story less memorable, and it has a terrible card game.
no
It really is. The gameplay and settings aren't that much better than other great FFs, let's say FFIX, but the cyberpunk/eco-terrorist setting creates a unique atmosphere very seldom seen in a videogame.
That's an impossible opinion to have and you know you don't believe that.
>automatic battle system
>leveling limited by progress in the game
>story convoluted as shit
>level designed with scripted battles at specific points
>levels so linear that you almost want to forgive how linear FFX was
>no towns
>main character isn't only intolerable, but a completely forgettable bitch that looks like a god damn crossdressing cloud
What are supposed to be the good points of the game user?
It's a good game, but it's not a work of art like FF IX. Yes, FF7 is better as a video game because of materia, but FF9 is a better overall experience. The mini-documentary/interview they did a few months ago for FF IX was one of the best things I've seen from Square in a very long time.
The defenseless kooky old man character gets hit by a truck
Yes, FF7 is good but people forgot why. Saying it's good became a meme instead and frowned upon.
It's good because it's an entertaining ride all throughout. The story draws you in right away, events happen frequently, you go through many different locations, tons of mini games occur, there's tons of secrets to discover, materia is fun to mess with, the atmosphere is 10/10, and there's a lot more reasons why it's good. It's polygons may be a bit dated but they are still extremely charming and display plenty of emotion as well.
It's definitely worth of being near or at the top of anyone's jrpg list.
This.
The best FF alongside 6 and Tactics
It is good, great even, but tends to get overrated by people who only played it and never touched any other FF
>It's polygons may be a bit dated but they are still extremely charming
This is the part I fear most about FFVII:Remake. I feel like the monsters themselves are going to lose all of their charm. Instead of having interesting and goofy designs every now and then, I feel they are going to try and make everything look as serious as possible.
the goofy designs are probably all back since the monster designs are ironically more 1:1 than the character designs
Yeah I'm wondering how many dumb enemies they kept. FF7 didn't take itself too seriously.
>I feel they are going to try and make everything look as serious as possible.
Yeah that's my only concern about the remake. FF7 only looks serious, the actual thing was goofy as shit.
Get ready for FFVII as it was imagined by advent children
Yeah, the monsters they do include will probably be identifiable. Compare the boss in the sewer to the original though. It is identifiable, but it lacks the same touch as the original. Part of that probably being the color scheme being much more vibrant in the original. Also, will they even include the more wtf monsters like posted? I doubt an action game is going to include nearly as many models as the original game so it will probably be the fucked up monsters that get the boot.
FFVII is that bunch of filler you see in between her death and the final battle.
You could straight up skip to the autism fixing scene under Mideel, then to the final battle after the stabbing and you wouldn't miss a damn thing.
I strongly suspect if you remove all fmv FFVII fits one disc.
>I strongly suspect if you remove all fmv FFVII fits one disc.
Wow. No fucking shit. The PC version could fit on CD without the cutscenes, and it's probably not even compressed as well as the PS1 version.
>story less memorable, characters less likeable
FF7 was filled with plotholes, shitty writing, and only had two good characters (Tifa and Barret). Funny joke, though.
>two good characters
>Tifa
>well written
Tifa's entire character hinges on another more interesting character
>filled with plotholes
Like?
>shitty writing
Not in the slightest. FF, and jrpg writing in general, aren't novel tier but they're decent.
>I strongly suspect if you remove all fmv FFVII fits one disc.
That's LITERALLY every multi-disc game on the playstation. Start up FFVII. Or VIII or IX. Eject the disc after you get off the train. Put in disc 2 or 3. Continue playing the game. Will work until you get to an FMV
it's about some cringe mercenary who joins an even cringier ecoterrorist group, that was the cliché of the time for kids shows: worrying about the environment
>at least i'm very thankfull that gorl died at the end, they deserved worst
A generation defining game. It's a masterpiece that all gaymers should play.
are before crisis, dirge of cerberus and crisis core good?
Dung of Cerberus sucks a lot, but has a few kino moments. Before Crisis is pretty meh, Crisis Core is mostly good, with some retarded shit.
>at least i'm very thankfull that gorl died at the end, they deserved worst
>at the end
Ah, so you haven't played the game then.
