There's an animation technique called inverse kinematics, it's used to keep character's feet level with uneven terrain terrain. It's been used forever in 3D games, even OOT does it.
World also uses it to keep monsters from clipping their face/tails into walls too hard, they'll try to curve them out of the way. Because Lagiacrus was fuckhuge and has a long neck it was spazzing out when he was attacking too close to walls, they decided to shelve it and fix him for a future game.
They fixed it sometime after base World was done but they had already made the maps without anywhere good to fight Leviathans since they were focused on other monster types.
He has that obnoxious side jump. Rusted Kush is the hardest fight in 4U.

I ran into this numerous times when doing Nergigante and Teostra. I even have a shoutout that says "Your HP is low, heal!" and they still don't get the damn message and carts due to not paying attention to their HP. Worse is they get one shotted because they have shit armor(probably still have LR armor or early HR armor).
I have early MR weapons and armor and I can do HR quests very easily especially when helping others but these morons that die easily have been pissing me off due to not paying attention to HP or have shit armor.

My main problem with Shara was just that the fight never felt like I was making progress after it hit phase 2. It just felt like a long fight and then suddenly without warning it died. Maybe because my first fight against it was co-op, but once it reached stage 2, we didn't even break anything, never stumbled it, the fight just felt really anti-climactic. Even with Xeno at least we managed to break some parts of it before it died.

If you've got the max upgraded rath weapons then you only need the MR rath stuff, mantles included. If it's armor you want then you're starting from scratch just like you did when gong from LR to HR. Honestly I'd recommend just getting the Anja SnS if you want something quick with fire damage and fulgur if you want something with thunder.

I can relate. It took me all the way to seething bazel for me to reliquish my empress blade Styx. Even without augments the damage was fucking juicy so I kept it.
If you want the crit element set you'll have to go beyond MR 3, it's the Barioth fight. Honestly, there's a bunch of clown armor you can do in the mean time. I had a great success with some pieces of rathian for the extra poison and part-breaker, weakness exploit and critical eye.
I'm at the 15 minutes fight time point. As sns make sure you do your claw attack and keep on doing the falling slam. I'm not sure how much more elemental does the perfect rush at this point. Just mix and match your moves. Also perfect rush makes for a great follow up of burst thorn to the face.
MR works basically the same as HR, so while you could rank up to MR3 or so to get rathalos optionals and investigations you could also just go find and kill him on expeditions instead if you want it early

If you're really getting carted as much as you are with MR gear then slot in Fortify, that should help you a bit, if even Fortify can't help you then i suggest you go back to HR for a bit (with corresponding gear obviously) and train.

That new Vaal Hazak put the fear of God into me. I've been doing really well so far, hitting no walls or even stumbling blocks, but after two carts that horrid thing had me running away to my HR weapons for health augment.
Every gem I have that doesn't go into something offensive is slotted to boost my health and recovery and make me nigh unkillable so I just make it a habit to carry the berries. The only time I've ever changed that is when I fought black veil val since his effluvium puddles demanded you have some way to avoid losing over half your health instantly.

Barioth on the other hand switches between moves mid combo and is a giant bitch to fight because of it, and Tigrex is easy to fight unless he catches you in an infinite roar/hit combo

For most monsters you want to fight on the ground but shreking legiana is the notable exception because it doesn't fucking land
Ground attacks deal more damage. The spinny air attack doesn't deal much but is useful to get on the monster but only the last hit lets you mount. The downward air attack deals more than the spinny attack and also lets you mount on all of its hits.
Your usual IG gameplan is to grab extracts, knock monsters out the air then wail on them on the ground.

The Dragoon Dive has higher MVs than the other aerial attacks (about 28+42+7+36 according to itest.5ch.net
It also tags hitzones for Kinsect autoattacks. If your Kinsect is docked before doing Dragoon Dive, it'll piledrive towards the monster.
The Midair Clutch Claw is faster than Aim Switching on ground but that's it.

Descending Thrust is your strongest attack, MV-wise. You want to be dodging moves like Velkhana beams, Rath fireballs, or Urugaan's super chin slam with Vault then chaining it into DT.

There is 0 advantage to playing World on console other then being able to play it sooner. Playing on PC is unironically the best way to play it.
It's better to carry flashbugs and make them on the go. And brightmoss knocks them to the ground after hitting them twice or so, didn't start using it until MR myself so I don't have too much experience with it.

Either way G rank is where you need to start thinking of monsters in terms of "how many times does it need to hit me before I die" and if the answer to that is 1-2 times, you want to invest just enough to get it to 2-3 instead and then focus on beating the monster into submission before it can become a problem
SnS is rad. The claw upper cut can really help maintain pressure.

New to this game. Picked up Long Sword cause it's fucking anime like.
One complaint, why does the combat feel so clunky? Like if you go to attack and use the sword you can't turn mid attack or between intervals. And there's a huge delay in stopping your attack to turn around, especially when fighting a monster that moves around a lot. It can be hard to get successive hits.
