Why does every remake remove the soul?

Why does turtle shell turn Mario brown?

So you're a little bit older and a lot less bolder than you used to be

because he gains koopa skin

>It's literally the same sprite but with shading
Out of all the remakes in Mario All-Stars Mario 1 is the one that got it the worst.

Every time anyone remakes/try to do HD version of anything ever, it's just an endless sea of MUH SOUL. Assuming that a remake or HD version of the game is made, how should they go about doing it to do it 'right'? And don't fucking pull that THEY SHOULDN'T IT'S FINE AS-IS NEVER TOUCH IT bullshit I know some of you want to say because it wouldn't be exactly how you remember it from muh childhood.

i prefer the remake except for the physics of sm1 which can be fixed with a patch

wow OP both sides are pretty soulless
now here's some real soul

i don't think interesting is the right word

These images fail when you start adding random adjectives to otherwise neutral, objective things
>interesting
>generic
Just call them cracked blocks and ORANGE bricks and let people decide for themselves (personally I like left's grass and right's blocks)

but I like both sprites

>literally wearing koopaface
How did they get away with it???

Why did Mario look worse in 3 than 2 (except for when mini)

The problem is that it's poorly shaded. A clean sprite is better than a muddy one.

It's called color with gradient

It's called a crappy palette, and pillow shading.
I could do a better job

they also removed the throwable blocks

That's one way of removing the soul I suppose

no, you missed the point entirely.
in the NES version, marios skin turns color when he wears the hammersuit,
in the SNES version, his skin color is always tan

I always interpreted the original Hammer Bros sprite as Mario going commando due to Hammer bros not wearing shirts.

Old = Soul
New = Soulless

there is no 'soul' it's just you bending to muh nostalgia

Truth. New games are soulless as fuck.

The 2 sprite was actually made after the 3 one.

It's just a side effect of the NES's limited color palette.

No they didn't, they just made them crates instead.
You can even eat one as Yoshi and make a square egg with it.

I sort of like this one

Cringe.

the n64version was too hard for her.

a lot of people were turned off from majora's mask because of its difficulty

>MM
>Difficult

How was it difficult? Because of the 3-day limit and timed events? I found it tedious at most.

It IS difficult for HER. Try seeing things from other people's perspective for once in your life. Jeez.

I always thought those boxes were cork or processed wood

Wasn't there an Iwata ask or an article that talked about how Super Mario 64's "Openness" intimidated the older players because you had the option to go anywhere now instead of just going right. I think that was the "difficulty" she was referring to. I also vaguely remember a Nintendo employee (i think) saying Super Mario 3D Land was a merger of both 3d and 2d Mario and hope that it will recapture the older players that only played 2d Mario.

It's probably the "added stress" due to the time mechanic. clearing dungeons, finding fairies, and what not.

>Super Mario All Stars absolutely butchered the original physics of the games it remakes
>but no, the reason its bad is because they took a sprite from SMB3 did literally nothing to it but add more color, and reused it
Soul: me beating the shit out of you
Soulless: you posting asinine horseshit on Yea Forums

>not knowing the deepest lore behind the marbled-blocks

Unironically yes

Attached: remake_W1.jpg (1816x2900, 1.27M)

i like to believe they did all that just to show off the fancy prerendered backgrounds. Disappointing they didn't even make nod to the Famicom version by making the cartridge pink for the JP release.

Attached: 81dBpMLFZFL._SL1500_.jpg (1500x1125, 179K)

I thought only the SMB1 (and 2JP) engine was affected?

Is it really the same sperg spamming these in every thread?

soul has nothing to do with gameplay or physics

Attached: remake_SMB3_all2.jpg (3500x2200, 1.89M)

So if it includes every bit of detail for the remaster, it has soul? Because this soul/soulless shit has reached cum|brain levels of forced.

>soul has nothing to do with gameplay or physics
So it has nothing to do with the most important aspects of a videogame, then.
