After twenty plus years I'm thinking about finishing picking this up again.
What game are you planning on picking up from childhood?

Nothing. I want new stuff.
My favourite game of all time
Do it, it's still good.
I'm thinking about playing monster rancher 2, not sure how fun emulating it would be though without the disc gimmick.
I can never bear to start this up again, as kid I beat Metal Greymon and was right outside the final boss door only for my Metal Mamemon to die of old age. Never again.
Gotta finish up Chrono Trigger, finally knock out Xenogears then Xenosaga.
Should finish Dark Chronicles/ Dark Cloud 2. My physical copy could never get past a certain loading screen.
There's a patch that gives you a random monster from the shrine instead of using discs
The disk gimmick still works with emulators, and it even enables you to read dvds for the game too or other isos. I had to use a specific emulator for it though, I think it was ePSXe, but it's been nearly 10 years since I did it so I'm not certain that's the right emulator anymore
File Island..
home...
Sup
or at least it was until the digimon anime fucked everything up
Atleast that nigga has a Garurumon. I had a fucking Koromon when that motherfucker showed up.
It is an absolute treasure of a game. If you have ever had a tamagotchi or VPet you can see how much they tried to make a console version of it and completely nailed it. If you find it too difficult you always have the option of breaking the games economy by trading with the Mojyamon too. Highly recommend but you have to be ok with the idea of having progress slowed with your digimons death.
Good luck. I tried to to beat it a year ago, I quickly found it too tedious though.
I loved the novelty of this game as a kid, but god is the evolving mechanic awful.
What a stupid mechanic this one was.
You'd effectively be stuck inside jijimon house right?
>Toy Town
The only complaint I have against Digimon is that they never bring these wacky locations back.
No. Only if you talked to him
Even with a regular champion level Digimon you'll get fucking destroyed.
I mean if you talked to jijimon with koromon which obviously happened to you
Been thinking of making a new Adventure Quest account and then grinding my way to the level cap. Having a semblance of a goal gives my life structure
this bad boy right here.
was a poor fag without a memory card for quite a while so I never got past the first few worlds.
I'm not that user. I'm trying to say you'll only trigger the Greymon fight when you talk to Jijimon to check the city prosperity. If he killed you and just walked off the house he wouldn't show up.
Brave Fencer Musashi
I want to collect all the toys, the rabbits, and those people trapped inside the crystal
>finishing picking up
:|
I'm pretty sure he did,I remember being stuck at that point
I did the same with Digimon world. Went through and checked off every single recruitable digimon.
I would've got every medal, but half of them are doing tournaments, and when you have a max stat digimon with all the OP moves the game ceases to be challenging at all.
Also I took a bunch of pictures and a webm, but I screwed up and lost all my data while I was moving my OS to an M.2 SSD.
Fuck Monochromon and fuck those 1/255 encounter rate digimon. Why the f*ck did they have 3 of them?
Also fuck piximon for being a 1/255 encounter rate fag and for corrupting my save and making me lose some progress.
I played this part again last month. He doesn't show up unless you talk to Jijimon. You're just dumb, user
blogposting but I've been watching tamers recently because of the cyber games coming to switch in a month, never gotten into digimon besides this. even though they're unrelated should I try digimon world now or wait until later? I love the monster designs so much, even though I havent given it a chance until now it makes me feel all excited like a kid. already planning to watch adventure next.
You don't have to insult me little nigger
At this very moment I just picked Dark Cloud 2 back for like the fourth time.
Its one of my cursed games where everytime I get really far I somehow lose my savedata and lose motivation to start again.
I dont think I will ever finish this shit.
Digimon world is a bit dated. I guess you might as well give it a try though.
Dark cloud 2 is so comfy.
I know what you mean though. You really gotta be on top of your saves
Digimon thread?
Anyone know how Digimon World: Next Order is?
Next Order is World-style and might be better for you
What the fuck was his problem?
youtube.com
It's sitting in my cabinet. I just need to hook up my PS2. I made it to the last disc twice but never finished.
Its pretty comfy and theres a ton of shit to do which I love, I just wish the combat was a bit better, it feels so stiff and its not my favorite part of the game.
Last time I played before losing a save was 3 years ago, and I was seriously doing every little sidequest, taking photos of everything and shit so losing the save was a nightmare.
Idk,It's my childhood game so it never feels boring to play it for me,I always comeback a do another run with a different digivolution path and so on,there's plenty to do in the game(as far as what route to choose goes)
Holy shit this looks fantastic. I remember looking way worse
I never actually beat it. I've gotten quite far a few times. It's basically my big "when I got time" game.
OP before continuing with the game PLEASE do keep in mind there's a version of the game that as a glitch and makes it imposible to beat it
I've gotten the urge to play Chrono Trigger the last few days. Just have no idea on whether I should play the DS or SNES version.
Hey Matt
Mt. Infinity's theme was awesome in that game!
youtube.com
They look worse tho
No emulator can replicate this sprites.
>"Sorry, no Data and vaccine niggers allowed"
What did they mean by this?
>The hospital is a giant med kit pack
I never noticed this
This doesn't happen if you have a baby.
Digimon World aesthetic was way better than the current anime aesthetic.
Digimon was grungy, now it's too clean.
Palmon a cute
>you'll never have original Digimon art style back
So much genuine soul
The DS games any good?
This game fucking sucks. Make sure you're playing it on an emulator so that you can abuse features that the original game fucked up or ignored. Good god this game sucks LOL
yes because hitting a random button is just as fulfilling as seeing what monster you got from spinning one of your parents discs to see if it had anything worth while.
Fuck you.
hated having him as a partner because of that clopping sound
>This game fucking sucks. Make sure you're playing it on an emulator so that you can abuse features that the original game fucked up or ignored. Good god this game sucks LOL

Just do a lot of training before going into the jungle, you want to make it to colemon at the start of the afternoon that way you can quickly run back over the bridge and recruit him.
His voice was fucking awesome though
If you're emulating it on a device without a disk tray it's kind of essential though. Otherwise you're locked out of 95% of the game's content
Literally git gud
yeah it's a real shame this shit lost its soul and is like any other generic modern day setting jrpg
You can control the rng in monochromemon's shop by cycling through the options you attempted at the previous customer using save states.
Emulators are the best way to play the game regaurdless though.
Next order was good though
World Championship is the only good one
Not compared to the original digimon world
Look at that niggas hand.
Has to fap with the tip of his fingers.
Digimon world 2 and 3 chads where are you at?
>hurr durr soul
God, just shut up retard.
2/3 were terrible
There's much to love about Digimon World...except the actual training and raising of your digimon. I can appreciate it, but I sure as shit would never want to play it again.
Digital Card Battle was better
I loved 3's overworld. I'd kill for a whole game with this art style, battles included
These look great. Are there higher res ones?
My nigger. Very similar situation with the 64 version, I rented it and didn't have the expansion pak so I couldn't save either.
Playing through 2 right now. It's a guilty pleasure I'll admit, definitely bad but I'm nostalgic for it.
It really isn't to bad if you play it wicked sped up, and really like having a large cast of Digimon to use.
SURVIVE FUCKING WHEN
THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A TGS TRAILER
Pretty much all of them including that one. I learned moon so now I go back and play games in Japanese.
>SURVIVE FUCKING WHEN
2020
Okay, but the late 90s-early 2000s cgi cutscenes of this character were nightmarish.
This is how I feel. The game has so much charm, but the digimon raising mechanics just sour the whole thing.
WOW METALGREYMON VS METALMAMEMON
WE'LL SEE WHO WINS NOW
DW1:comfy as fuck(for veterans). Can be a little stressful for first runners that will be overwhelmed by the active timer and race against time.
DW2:Love it or hate it.Dungeon crawling is not for everybody, combat is pretty interesting,Digivolution mechanic is retarded tho(have to dna 2 champions to unlock level cap and the digimon born out of the dna becomes lvl 1 rookie again).Long fucking game, like 100+ hours long.
DW3:straight jrpg, digivolution mechanic is easy and boring, story is much more interesting than DW2 tho
DW4:Look,this game is not for everyone too, even for some digimon fans this game was pretty controversial. But I loved it.It's basically dark souls with over the top camera and you can only change weapons(your digimon also have different skills that change when you digivolve, they usually come with a normal single target spell,a aoe one,a power up one, a one that curses the oponent and a heal one)
Replayed donkey kong for gb a few weeks ago. Could never get past a certain level in world 2. I was retarded
I feel like it is a game of patience, you explore, raise, explore, so on and so forth. It's just so unique in what it was trying to do that there really is nothing else quite like it.
I really like the music after the Town is saved, but there's not much reason to stay there for too long after you did save it, unless you want to learn some techs.
Maybe they just showed the old trailer
Never, until we finally get a game where we can finish Analogman off for good the dude just kept showing up in various digimon titles after being spanked here and it's annoying, I want closure
I need an user to explain to me why MetalGreymon (Virus) unsettles me. Specifically this version. Is it the slit pupils?
>the fountain and little lights added
>when you ask Elecmon about the lights he just asks whether it has a point or not, and for you to decide if they do
That being said, I liked all the small little bonuses, like Kokatorimon's statue of you.
This STILL looks good what the fuck
So do you.
This is probably one of the only Soul vs Soulless comparisons that's 100% true. Next Order is sterile trash compared to the original.
3 had some good stuff about it even if it wasn't on the same level as 1. 2 is one of the worst games I've ever played.
The rotting body caused by the unnatural melding of metal and flesh
should post your f-list qt.
I just replayed and finished mario sunshine for the first time. that last level was pretty disappointing honestly
Never played it but I like Digimon.
I guess I will download the iso to check it out.
Think back in the ps1 days me and my bro played Monster Rancher, which is kinda the same I guess.
Is there any new game with the same type of gameplay as digimon 1 on ps1?
I know the remake came out on the vita, and the remake remake on the 3DS, but do they keep on par on am I better off playing digimon 1 on a ps1 emulator
My favorite is digimon 2, but that is a dungeon crawler with rpg elements.
I have never been far enough in this game to see all of that. Fuck now im tempted to play it
The PSP game (Re:Digitize) isn't a remake of DW1, but it has similar gameplay. If you haven't played DW1, you should give it a try.
I started playing Re:Digitize recently and even though it doesn't really feel the same as DW1, I'm still having a good time with it.
My personal problem was that I had no idea how to actually raise my digimon, which meant I never got very far in the game. The only thing out of the ordinary for me was when I got the yellow turd monster instead of the green one.
But I do feel kind of vindicated knowing that codemonkeys who's split the game apart also can't figure the game out either.
Dark Chronicle is definitely worth finishing, the story is nothing extraordinary but it still touched me when it was over.
My dad has a shit ton of music CDs and old DVDs so I went wild unlocking monsters.
I got a colorful mono from a christmas movie DVD.
Just download bunch of isos, i've used to do that with ps1 games iso.
am i the only one who loves side mini-games like running a super market in Digimon World and working at a hotel in Mario RPG?
Great taste
I played the shit out of the third Spyro game but never touched the prequels or crappy remakes.
Is the new remake worth it?
i really like next order's theme song, but that's it
Dot Hack: Infection-Outbreak
This shit. The framing device (MMORPG (that plays moreso like an MORPG) of a game within a game is pretty cool. The procedurally generated levels via keywords are pretty fun to run around, with giant corpses and statues of dudes vomiting and shit. The overworlds before the dungeons are empty and surreal. The music is boppin'.
However, this game is stretched between four titles with barely any major plot between them. One could say this actually emulates the experience of trying to solve a mystery while fucking around on message boards and grinding, but the games are the same.
I still feel proud about the fact I figured out the mojyamon exploit without reading guides. All the time spent on Neopets' capitalistic market made me a bright kid.
I played the game so much to the point I has found all of the glitches
How did you guys get your first ultimate? Mine was Phoenixmon after my Angemon randomly died inside the ice palace.
These are great user, thanks for posting.
I played the first three a ton growing up. I was never able to finish any of them do to the general difficulty in all of them, but I very much enjoyed them all. After seeing Digimon World 4, I'm glad I didn't play it. It looks genuinely awful and worse than the first three games in any way that could possible be fun.
Also, I'd say 3=2>1 in my experience. Each game had something I genuinely enjoyed, but they all also had a some painfully glaring flaws.
Even though I actually had a guidebook for all three of them as a kid, the games were just too difficult. No matter what I did for training and feeding, I never got good evolutions in the first game, for example, and I usually had to resort to Numamon -> free Monzaemon from Toy Town to get anything done.
2 I liked having a ton of digimon and the teams, but having to fuse and relevel digimon over and over endlessly is cancer and not fun. Fights are also mindnumbingly slow.
3 probably has the most potential in my eyes. The pixel art is incredibly soulful and the card game mini game is super fun, but random encounters really sucked a ton, especially considering some random encounters, for no real reason, were stupidly overpowered and could more or less one shot any of your digimon out of nowhere.
I've considered replaying 3 recently, but I can't seem to get the speed up working in Mednafen, so that's stopping me at the moment.
1 lacked a lot of in-game explanations. The death digivolutions had a 30% chance of happening regardless of stats but we don't find out about them until you enter the graylord manor.
3 allowed you to use several digivolutions so it was pretty fun compared to the hardcore grinding of the 2 previous games.
None.
If I replay those games, my fond memories of them will be overwritten with the shitty memories I make now.
Yep!
now when are we getting the romhack that swaps the low res sprites for these? i'd kill for a dw1 remaster
We can't do it.
The code only accepts a certain image file extension that was created only for this game
yeah because nobody has ever made an hd mod by rebuilding the game from the ground up right
Good luck baby,go do it ;)
This looks great as a wallpaper. Thanks a lot, user!
*ahem*
You mean, pixel characters on pre-rendered maps and shit?
The sprites site
spriters-resource.com
That's not a shit idea. Actually i did that and it's nice feeling to finish game you didn't finished in childhood. I played Digimon world when I had like 8-9 years and finished it when I had 27 years and I felt like I finished something in my life what wasn't finished for long time, good feeling
I need to beat Valkyrie Profile one of these days.
Digimon are cool. I love Digimon.
oh shit, I'm so replaying this game. Maximus comfy
Great game, but you won't be able to finish it because it's fucking unfinished. You eventually reached a quest that can't be completed and that's fucking it. They should make a game like this with more content and an actual ending.
Are you talking about ogermons fort
GOD people complain about Pikachu getting redesigned to shit but OG Metalgreymon is so much better then what adventure did to him its not even funny.
>being fucking retarded
the only thing that's unifinished is gyromons jukebox and that's only broken in half the releases. you can get 100 prosperity and beat the final boss just fucking fine
>he doesn't download the randomizer, which even if you don't want the randomizer itself, has a patch that makes it so the jukebox is fixed, along with other QoL things
well no shit if you're emulating you can fix the bug
i cant play it on emulator anymore because i always get tempted to use digivolve items via cheats after like 3 hours
Where are these all from?
These
Ran through this topazlabs.com
bump
Man, it's a miracle a game like this got made.
how is it a miracle?
>Also, I'd say 3=2>1
You're an idiot and nothing you say matters.
i hear the cyber sleuth games are goo but i can't really play a digimon game tat has standard rpg mechanics.
I prefer tamogachi style or dw4 style.
>or dw4 style
the pixel art
the music
the open ended game play
just the artistry man
i just think that digimon wouldn't take turns attacking each other
i think you mean to say the game itself is a miracle then. the act of making a good game is not miraculous unless it goes through development hell and still comes out good
yes but also consider dw4 is one of the worst games ever made. there are plenty of non turn based digimon games, albeit mostly fighting game spinoffs and the world games
bare***
Nothing would "take turns attacking each other". Do you actually take JRPG fight mechanics literally?
>the act of making a good game is not miraculous
Given what came after DW1, I think it's a miracle that they made DW1 at all. No other Digimon game has even come close to that.
while i do agree that dw1 is the best in the franchise i would disagree in that next order didn't at least come close. it had a lot of issues sure but it also fixed some of the absolute aids that was in the first game, such as literally being unable to know what digivolution requirements are
It wasn't even close at all. It was a sterile attempt to recreate the first game that felt like some garbage Gust would make. A few quality of life improvements won't make up for the awful artsyle, gameplay and lack of exploration that the original had.
well i don't like most pure turn based stuff in general
like why make a basic turn based game when it can be a arpg or even a srpg where the turns makes sense
i'd actually argue the combat was a direct upgrade from the first game if for no other reason than you didnt have to spend 8 fucking days training brain just to give your digimon commands (granted the animations are fucking awful compared to the first). training also wasn't nearly as egregious and you couldn't be interrupted by bullshit priority moves while casting your super move
again, there were lots of things that next order did worse but it had merit in some areas
>a lot more available digimon (even if half the roster was recolors removing those still gives you a lot more options than dw1)
>the songs that were remixed from the first game are great
>battles aren't completely meaningless for training
>early game food isn't fucking impossible to get
>you can actually learn digivolution requirements and have them saved
>tamer points do something
>ways to extend your partners life
again, next order does a lot of things wrong but the above were definite improvements over the original
Training stats could have been a little quicker, or at least you should have gotten more from battles in the original. Yes, the original should have had more Digimon and some more moves, but the Digimon it had all looked great and felt like unique Digimon. Nothing else you've mentioned is really an advantage for NO; food is actually easy to get in DW unless you don't have the item shop, can't find mushrooms, and get Tyranamon early on. Making all the digivolution requirements that easily identifiable would take some of the fun out of it. Quality of life improvements can't even come close to making up for the horrible art style, loss of the sense of isolation and exploration that the original had, or the brilliantly crafted world. DW1 with the exact same graphics, a few more Digimon and a tweaked stat system would be flawless. NO would have to be scrapped and reworked from the ground up to even come close to 1.
Why did they give weregarurumon a tail in cyber sleuth?
I want more comfy threads like this
