There's absolutely nothing that can be done with Kanna at that point. Her story's over. Shin still has his connection with Sou that could still be explored.

Well yeah, narratively it makes far more sense for Kanna to die at this point and Shin to live, but the other ending practically screams "this is the true route" while this one feels likes it's setting up to be a very long bad ending.

What I like about the flow of the 2nd main game is that they slowly manage to put together a case to get the entire game annulled, creating a ray of hope, and then that just gets crushed. And there's no counterattack, they just straight up fucking lose, Nao's gonna die, and Sara has to choose between killing Kanna or Sou. This shit captures Despair way better than the formulaic Danganronpa ever could.
