Ironside left as voice actor. Gameplay styles changed with conviction. A lot of people didn't like it.

It was about as good as Conviction, I thought it was better. Ironside had cancer at the time so he opted out voicing Sam which sucks, but was understandable.

Rereleases evoke different feelings.
I'll break them down
>RE1 PS1
It's the original cover, but I'm ranking the Director's Cut there, which has stuff like auto aim and Arranged mode.
>RE1 Saturn
No Arrange, but it had Battle Game, which is an even tradeoff.
>REDS
RE1 but slightly less censored and portable. Also added Rebirth Mode and a multiplayer mode, and it got bumped up a notch because it kept the original tracks.
>RE5 Gold
Vanilla RE5 lacked Mercs Reunion, Desperate Escape and Lost in Nightmares.
It's a great time mate. Same CG as RE3, hilariously experimental camera angels, and the ending is hilarious when you realize that Dr. Connor was probably killed by the bombing as she never comes back.
