I'm having kind of a weird experience with this game, the way it sounds, the way it looks, its iconography and lore... I have grown with this and it has always been the most boring part of culture, I am from a christian family in a small spanish town and until my mid teens I've taken part on mass, processions and other religious events and I've always hated it.
So now seeing all that and much more be transformed to a sick fucking action game is almost cathartic to me, it's so fucking great that someone used their creativity to make something just beautiful out of something in practise so boring, it just makes me very happy.

Imagery and asthetics aside, the game is pretty medicore.
The level design is roughly 70-80% backtracking, most items in games are just stat buffs that don't matter cause you can beat the game with the base attacks and movement. There is some problem with platforming, where you can just miss ledges entirely and go right through them. Top ladder climbing is an example. Some anons were disappointed with when you try and wall climb if you get hit you can grab the walls again. I beat it in roughly 6 hours, didn't really pay attention to the story or "lore". It was okay, some bug fixes are needed though. Have fun user if you like sub par metroidvainas mixed with similar Demon's Souls mechanics.

Just beat the game with both endings. Decent game, bit rough on the edges though, especially on the edges of spike pits, sometimes Penitent just refuses to jump and straight falls into them. Also the final few areas felt like they weren't tested all that much, they have a couple of Leap of Faith areas where you die on spikes because you have to hang from a wall and can't look down enough. Better than Slain but not as good as Hollow Knight, 7/10.
