Tentative hype. Wollay has a lot to prove, Mage gameplay looked good on the surface, but there are still a lot of systems that need to be shown off still to really make a game out of things and a lot of things going on behind the scenes that could negatively impact things overall. Such as the idea of a gear reset every area and quests being leveled to you. Though apparently that is only if the quest is white text. Anything above that is still your level +, so who knows.

I got hyped during the first cycle and I can't be anymore. I've never played it and am hoping that the core game loop is interesting enough to support what I assume are going to be bog-standard rpg stuff.

What the fuck is all this? I don't get how some of this is relevant information. Has he really loaded up that many zones? Chunks can't be map completion, it's infinite. Is it tracking strain, like how Minecraft keeps track of how much ram it's taking up at the moment? But then why always have that info instead of in some kind of debug thing?

i played it again a couple days ago out of hype and it was not fun. i've already gotten my enjoyment out of this game

It really will depend on quests and artifact leveling. If going off to find them doesn't feel satisfying and offer a good reward, then the entire loop will fall apart. Grand Quests need to feel meaningful too, if I kick the ass of the Steel Empire, I want it to feel like something is happening with them. Like having to deal with ambushes from them, even in zones they don't normally control.

He already showed off that you can use Cooking to cool you down when he was next to a lava lake, implying that you could swim in it and not take damage, or at least take less damage. Which means a system like that could also be in effect for the Firelands or Desert during the day. They also said there was hot cocco, so I imagine the same is true for extreme cold.

This could be done decent. It just matters on how the reset happens. If it's "you can't use the gear from that area here", then it's auto shit and the game will die as soon as it launches. If it's "The power of that gear is reduced in this area" and the amount it's reduced depends on it's rarity and if it has a + next to it's name or not, then it might be fine.

There is also the matter of the fact that, how could they make something like that, but with non-linear gameplay. I doubt that every area would have this restriction, since what if you want to sell thing? You obviously don't have infinite inventory, so if you wanted to go back to an old area long after you sold the gear from it, are you just screwed? There has to be some kind of logic to the progression and going back to old areas, they can't just bar you or lower your power every time you cross a border.

Development trouble. They have gone silent on shit and refuse to show any gameplay. Which is making people think their trailer wasn't actually real gameplay at all and was just programmed models running on a set path using studio maker or whatever. Also, Hypixel are known con artists and used perk servers to get money from kids. I wouldn't expect much from them anyway.

This game had such potential. Back the Minecraft was so badly optimized Cubeworld's optimization was like magic (got +200 fps on even the worst computers) but Wollay blew it by being a lazy fuck

He's saying that it's going to be a lot of empty promises, or over hyped systems that don't actually work how people are thinking and will ultimately be forgotten or sending death threats to the dev demanding that they deliver on the product as it was promised, instead of the con it became.

He still hasn't shown off all that he should have. Only little hints of it hiding in the wings, like the five factions and their grand quests that make the story of the game. I hope he made more 16 minute gameplay stuff to upload, but probably not.

The website is going to get updated with everything the game currently has in it, but that might not be until 1-2 weeks from now and the game might be launching on the 28th. Bit of time to see exactly all it has to offer.

The big problem facing No man's sky wasn't it's generation, it certainly shares the same idea with Cube World, but so does every other game with infinite procedural generation. They have to have something in between all of that though, or it's just a fat load of nothing. Infinite x 0 is still 0 after all. Cube world needs to really deliver on it's other systems to be anywhere on people's radar. It needs to show that it's dynamic quests and lore generation is entertaining enough to be a good gameplay loop. That it's combat is balanced, fair, but still challenging when doing higher quests. But more importantly, that there is a good pull to exploring. You can have the most beautiful landscape out there, but if you look out and just see places for boring set pieces that give you an incremental upgrade, then what is the point of playing? Imagine an Elder Scrolls game, but without the main quest, or factions. You just went into town, talk to someone and got some random quest to find a locket in a dungeon. Would you want to play that for 50 hours?
