wyverns are so derpy. they look ridiculous crawling around on their wingtips. even like rathalos in monster hunter looks like a goober when he's on the ground. dragons are so superior. they stand on all fours with their head up, proud like the kings they are. the only wyverns I've found to be aesthetic are fire emblem wyverns because when they land on the ground they stand up straight majestically instead of hunch over.

In Tolkien lore the first dragons were non-winged and not all dragons had a breath weapon, the first ones like Glaurung were literally just made as gigantic elf genocide tanks.

the problem with proper dragons is that animators can't be arsed to actually put effort into considering how it moves, whereas with wyverns you can just copy a bat or motion capture benedict cumberbatch.

Literally all you have to do for a four-legged dragon is to motion capture a cat and extend the neck when finetuning the animation.

Glaurung did have a fire breath though, that's why only the fully armored dwarves wearing face masks could fight him.
