Dark Mage is trash sadly, the only character who ever benefits from it is Hubert. Bishop is actually the best healing class in the game but it has no canto. With healers you have three options that depend on your play style: bishop if you want the strongest heals but the worst range, gremory for weaker heals but some offensive power, or holy knight for weaker heals but canto and insane range. Personally I find holy knight the best overall but it's totally up to you.

dark knight's better than holy knight if you want canto, there's no character that benefits more from white tomefaire than black tomefaire

Why would you rather have black tomefaire on a healer then white tomefaire? Your healer should be dealing damage to nothing but units with only a few health points remaining or bulky physical units, and even when they do attack they should be using aura which is white magic.

offensive white magic is pretty mediocre compared to black magic

Bernie can be amazing, though she can sometimes be fucked hard by rng. She has generally good stats for an archer, a great personal skill, and a great crest. Her only real problem is her lacking strength growth, though unless you get seriously screwed by rng I have found that her amazing speed allowing her to double and even quadruple enemies makes up for her sub par strength. I think she is one of the better units, no Hilda or Felix, but definitely good.

MS is a meme. The movement is too shit for Felix, he is such a strong unit and you need him on the front lines.
Pegasus is a great route for her. Bow knight adds insane range but its negative growth leave being something to.use only by the endgame. Sniper has some nice utility as well.

Personally I feel like that's a waste. Having a rally bot and a dancer is great as you can then either buff one unit twice or buff two units.

I never even used rallies or had a specific rallybot on hard. How would I keep them leveled if they're spamming rallies every turn.

Spam weapon arts with training weapons to save money. If you're getting overwhelmed, moving all your units back to bait and one round a small wave of enemies works pretty well.

Ignatz is unironically pretty great in Maddening. Learns Rally Speed and Rally Dex pretty early, good for poking with Break Shot and Seal Strength. His personal skill giving +20 Hit means he won't be missing as often against inflated stats either.
