too high for a jap mech game
Mech games are fucking trash.
Both demos didn't really do it for me, but I didn't expect it to do this bad
Gamexplain's review was scathing, saying that the combat gets too repetitive and there's not enough content to justify the $60 price tag.
Personally, after playing the the beta demo, something about the game just felt very mediocre to me, regardless of having the talent of devs who worked on Armored Core in the past.
>What went wrong?
Reviewer X Mechagames
>Reviewer X Mechagames
People liked Xenoblade Chronicles X and Titanfall 2. It may not necessarily be the reviewers this time.
>What went wrong?
nothing "journos" are just shit at games so they depend on the story
>Whining about not passing the pleb filter.
Amateurs
>ATB RPG
>FPS
>mechagame
ok
Those are not the same genre of Armored Core style games, which all historically get bad to average reviews.
The 2nd demo felt better but it did get repetitive
Neither of those are arcade style games like the average mecha shit
A closer comparison would be AC7 which only has like an 81
if you played the demo then you should have expected this. it's mediocre as hell and really did not deserve all the press it was getting, as if it was some AAA title.
>What went wrong?
>beta demos suffered technical issues
>not enough game content
>too repetitive
>weak story
>mostly boring/annoying dialogue
>too many framerate drops
>released in the same month as Link's Awakening & Borderlands 3
>very little replay value aside from doing online co-op
It's just another mediocre Marvelous game that got released in the wrong state at the wrong time. The only good things about it are the mecha designs, the twins, and the soundtrack. Not much else desu. Hope there's some good DLC for the future.
The default controls are shit, literally garbage. I wanted this game to succeed but they dun fucked it up. Everyone will dismiss the game before setting up optimized controls.
>it's another faggots that don't play video games thread
It was always destined to be a niche title with a cult following.
bump
why are videogame "critics" allowed to do this
you wouldn't trust a movie review if they said "oh, i only watched the first 30 minutes"
you wouldn't trust someone who gives you a recap of a sporting event if they say "I dont really like the sport, and i dont understand it either"
but when game reviewers are all 50 year old fucks who both
>only play videogames for a few hours a month in order to write pieces
>never go further than 2 hours
no one bats a single eye
remember the cuphead thing?
maybe every game needs a journalist mode.
It's going to end up the type of game that will be praised and loved in the future and only certain people will "get it" and fall in love with it now despite the issues it has. Basically, it's a more hardcore game that's a bit rough, and because it's 2019, it'll get trashed too much by critics.
Yeah that's the impression I've got.
I played the demos for 10 hours already, no way I'm getting disappointed in the main game.
I just understand that it's not for everyone, but still I think it is perfect for mecha enthusiasts.
>metashitic
I couldn't care less about DxM and have no idea why it got that score because I don't own a Switch, but I just came here to say if you believe that MC speaks any sort of volume to the quality of a game, you're not going to end up with an accurate opinion of the game.
Metacritic's only function is for gauging if a casual friend would like it as a gift.
"pro" reviews are a fucking joke
This.
And this is why I hate modern critic.
It is just an indicator of how mainstream a game can be, and not how good it is.
Sure, sometimes the game can be both things. but often a good niche game gets bashed because it does not appeal to normies.
I hate this because if you like some niche genre, you will have a hard time finding reviews made by competent people.
Monster Hunter had to make an incredibly dumbed down and approachable title on all platforms just to get the series into a popular state. And even then a lot of people refuse to buy and play it because they feel it's too complicated. And then those same people complain that there are no good AAA titles on their platform.
>Offline MMO with an Open World Meme
>FPS that just so happens to have giant robots
It's the reviewers, Armored Core tended to get scores like this too. Journalists can't handle something like this and as stated, even Monster Hunter didn't really get successful outside Japan until they dumbed it down with World. It's why you can't trust reviewers with something like this, it's not a game they'd have even looked at if not for it being a job.
If you listened to metacritic you’d think that nuGoW is better than DMC 3, 4, and 5.
Why would you do that?
The score doesn't surprise me that much, since the demo was boring as fuck. They should have spent more time on it and then released it during a drought to give it at least a small chance at success, not in the middle of fucking Astral Chain and Link's Awakening.
>Astral Chain
At least in DxM I won't have fucking shit platforming segments and have to play goddamn car moving puzzles.
>Got repetitive even within short demos
>Pretty hefty frame rate issues (though switch users are used to/ok with that, I assume)
>Reportedly low amount of overall content
>Marvelous Inc.
They make decent games, but that's it, it really is not a very good developer
Nothing.
i will never not be upset that i missed out completely on chromehounds
I know that feeling brother. Hearing the ones that remember it talk about makes my heart ache.
My biggest problem with it is that it isn't an actual mecha game. Little to no customization (outside of swapping parts). Nothing will ever scratch that itch like AC did where you can actually build the mech you envisioned for your play-style.
Confirmed for not playing the game.
I'm a few missions in and it seems like I already unlocked all the customization. Does it actually get better? Can I swap air mobility for land mobility in a meaningful way other than getting stronger leg parts?
based
>im only at the beginning, why do i have to play the game to unlock things?
Fucking answer you retard. I googled this after the 2nd demo already and everybody went: "Nope. Just swapping parts is all."
this pisses me off
you haven't even scratched the surface
just look at this shit, user
i never really look at reviews in general, but they really cant play mech games.
Explain.
>Gamexplain
>didn’t even use boost
lmao why would you listen to those hacks?
Post pilots
I just hope this means I’ll see progressively less weebshit during Nintendo directs
Have sex
>night-time Yea Forums
>nintendo exclusive gets a YELLOW score on metacritic
>a fucking 70
>no OHNONONONONO posting or wojaks in sight
Is it seriously just a single group doing that shit? You would think there would be a few stragglers making shitpost threads at the very least about this, but it's like this went completely under the radar
It's september. Kids have school.
It's because mecha is the ultimate pleb filter
Sonyfags in Yurope have to work their wage slave jobs.
First off, in the 2nd demo the body modification was locked off, and that has various skill trees that can expand your Arsenal's abilities and your out of mech ones too.
There's also attachments that you can stick to gear to enhance certain attributes of theirs.
I'm not out of Rank D missions yet so there's probably more that unlocks over time but off the bat there's things here you can do outside of part swapping.
Kids had school at the end of August too, but that didn't stop the flood of shitposting about Astral Chain's 88.
Haha yeah us nintenbros collectively slit our wrists when ZombiU was critically panned
Mecha repulses everyone who isn’t already a /m/an, so even smoothbrain consolewar faggots don’t give a shit.
Post your outer and judge others
a.uguu.se
and there are final exams all 365 days of the year, but that doesn't mean most people have final exams every single day.
I want to buy this game but I already have loads of games I bought weeks/months ago and have to play first, but I kind of want to buy this now anyway just to support it. Should I?
she looks so sad
>you wouldn't trust a movie review if they said "oh, i only watched the first 30 minutes"
roger ebert and gene siskel were trusted. they never watched films, lied about everything, and got a nice case of jaw cancer/brain tumor before their deaths.
cope
Finally an answer, thanks.
Body modification is unlocked from the start in the main game, so I knew about that. Already got the visual leg and eye mod as example.
Knew about attachments already too, but haven't gotten any that had downsides to them on top of giving bonuses.
This isn't really "customization". It's just upgrades. I can't actually customize the mech to be a certain type, such as a ground-based mech that's fast on the ground, but due to its weight can't fly and only do a thruster jump as example.
Probably gonna refund, oh well.
In Europe (the Nintendo-hating continent) most schools start in the first or second week of September.
It all makes sense now. It's morning in central Europe so the shitposters are literally in school right now.
All the face types look pretty meh. The lighting really doesn't help the models either.
lmao
>Europe
>Nintendo hating continent
What shitty memery is this?
Nigger Europe is sony central. People only play FIFA and GTA here.
Holy ampharos, based!
>this is your brain on consolewar
it's a mecha game
>No content
please tell me this isnt true, i just want to customize the shit out of my mech
Look at sales charts please.
there's 100 missions total and NG+
Europe has always preferred the competition to Nintendo, be it Sega or Sony.
The sales charts tell that me Nintendo stuff sell just as well in Europe.
Having to use the community as beta testers, and being a rather indecisive game overall.
Its the wonderful 101 all over again a useful ability in the game and they don't fuck utilize it.
I'd say stick with it, you may not be able to customize that deeply but the game might still be fun for you regardless on its own merits.
Plus, it's probably the closest thing to Armored Core we'll see for a very long time considering FromSoft makes more money making Souls games and mecha's a pretty niche genre. But that's just my take on it, I'm having fun so far and I plan to play the Co-Op missions online at some point with friends too.
sure does
>Metacritic scores only matter when the game gets a good score
lol nintendobabs
>Having to use the community as beta testers
What's wrong with this?
How does the score matter? Please explain.
how many different weapons are there? i could go for another hyrule warriors bit with mechs, unlocking tons of shit.
Then I guess america is a Sony-hating continent then huh retard?
where's the porn of him?
Great counter.
I thought it was common knowledge that you need to be on the spectrum to enjoy mech games.
>Then I guess america is a Sony-hating continent then huh retard?
Everything isn't black and white you fucking mouth breather
See It's less the scores not mattering because they're not high and more the scores not mattering because the games this is inspired from were in a similar spot despite being great.
Westerners aren't really that into mecha games and the scores reflect that more than the games' actual quality.
no idea, check the weapon categories in the hangar to get a rough estimate.
Those dumb burger must really fucking hate Sony, look, only 50,114 PS4 wtf, they literally seeth at Sony.
I guess I'll re-approach the game with a different mindset. Just bummed out, because all I want is another AC, but as you said...
Again, thanks for answering my question and I hope you'll have a blast with the game.
These people are the reason why mech games are all but existent anymore
>Nintendo sells just as well in Europe
>no it doesn't, look
>UM YEAH BUT AMERICA!!!
yeah, great counter. keep going buddy.
Thanks user, I hope you do too.
>50k means they hate it
>WTF NO IT DOESNT MEAN THAT AT ALL
>How does the score matter? Please explain.
It makes your favorite company look good and makes great shitposting material
Does Nintendo sell as well as Sony in Europe?
Laser, Ballistic, Missile, Grenade and Melee. If you're looking for "unlocking tons of shit" this is the game for you. It's just mindless picking up one upgrade after another and slapping it on your mech.
Is this your brain on console war faggotry? Read the reply chain again and take you time this time. Maybe then you'll understand that user's point.
this
if a mecha game scores high you know it's watered down mass appeal pleb shit
mecha for the sake of mecha will always be an acquired taste
>The sales charts tell that me Nintendo stuff sell just as well in Europe.
I can read. Can you?
Let's see, i was stupid enough to buy it digitally, so there is no Trading it in anyway. Gonna hit the gym now and check it out later.
Only the Switch.
hmmmm
This entire discussion is retarded, because those numbers simply don't indicate anything. Look at Japans PS4 numbers. They sure must hate the PS4, huh?
No. They all already have a fucking PS4 in their home and are now buying Switches on top of it.
I fucking hate consolewar faggotry so much.
It's ugly as hell, all of its characters are super shallow anime tropes that kind of just come and go and none are really "characters", and the mech customization isn't nearly as deep as other mech games that are available now. The gameplay is also very repetitive. Basically everything about the game's entire presentation is extremely ameteurish.
And don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast playing it. I like this game a lot so far, and it scratches the itch I needed it for pretty well. I pre-ordered, and I got exactly what I expected. I don't think this game is worth the full price tag, nor do I think it was worth the amount of advertisement it got. It was basically doomed to fail from the start, but that's just the life of mech games.
not true though, base line grim reaper is just as effective as grim reaper III because the latter sacrifices a huge chunk of the mag size for a little bit more damage.
it's all about getting 3 slot versions of the weapons and getting good attachments
honestly this
>They all already have a fucking PS4 in their home and are now buying Switches on top of it.
PS4 took 6 years to reach 7 millions in Japan, the Switch topped that in 2 years. Japan doesn't like home consoles and doesn't like the PS4.
The PS4 sells double what the Switch does in Europe almost every single month.
This is actually correct
This is the real problem.
Japan got betrayed by Sony, they spit on it now.
Okay just for you. The initial post was that Europe must hate Nintendo, because they buy less of them compared to America. After bringing up the charts, user made the ridiculous claim, that Murricans must hate Sony, because it sells less compared to Europe. (Notice how the ratios are pretty much the same). Now you come along with "nice counter" as if this is about console war shit and not just dunking on a smooth brained comment. Slightly less sales doesn't mean a continent hates a company. It's just a shitty console war meme.
I am literally right you are literally wrong snoygger.
>because they buy less of them compared to America
??????? No?
This still pulls them almost equal, though as said, niche gamers are annoyed at the sudden burst of censorship.
And yet this isn't an excuse for consolewar faggotry. Who the fuck cares? Discuss games, not consoles.
Off topic but how is 7/10 a yellow score? Why the fuck are vidya scores so inflated?
Blame big companies
One user asked why this game wasn't being shitposted. I gave an answer. That's all there is to it.
Because everyone is handing out 10/10. Some small swedish magazine I know isn't getting paid by Nintendo gave Astral Chain a 5/5. I liked the game too, but why the fuck is everyone giving a perfect score to non-perfect games? What if an actual perfect game hits us? Are they going to give out a 11/10 or a 6/5? It's fucking retarded and why I hate gaming "journalism".
I'm sorry, I gave you the benifit of doubt and thought you were only exaggerating with that claim. Turns out you're actually dumb enough to believe what you write.
Just give me a better emulation for the old AC games instead where I can upscale without issues.
Eagerly awaiting a 69 score like TSA.
Holy shit this is the most pathetic damage control I've ever read.
Truth is:
They only give this game bad reviews because it's a nintendo exclusive.
see
>waste 10 minutes pirating it
>it sucks anyway
I hope Weegee's Mansion is at least decent.
>cherrypicking shit games
This is bait, do not reply.
>literally made up numbers
the entire genre cant be shit, user
find me a mecha game that has over an 85
Daemon X Machina is not some clunky old shit it's a well refined action game with tight visuals.
This
here is a comprehensive list of every single mech game with a metacrtic above 80. None of them have reached 90. There is an entire genre of this shit but not a single game in the genre has scored above a 90. And the games in this genre above an 80 can be counted on two hands. Think about that.
How much are you being paid to say that? Because if you google the latter part of the phrase, every "journalist" said the same thing.
"refined action game"
"tight visuals"
Now post the score for Zone of the Enders 2 on ps4
>70 with Nintendo bonus
Yikes
Titanfall 2 is not a mecha game and GBA2 is a fighter.
Mechwarrior deserves the score though. Good game.
>Nintendo exclusive gets bad score
>only one ironic mention of nintendo bonus
see? it's a fucking meme and cope mechanism for when a Nintendo game gets a good score.
It sure makes you seeth.
Sure just like a person saying the earth is flat makes me seeth. lol
If you look at accumulated sales and stop being a retard you would notice that sales for ps4 and switch are pretty close at the same points in life.
The only place that currently really hates Sony is japan
>Titanfall 2 is not a mecha game
Probably why is scored so high.
you missed two
Good job. That's literally what he implied.
Sandlot should make new RAD
Mech game doesn't just mean "has mechs in it"
Seethe has an 'e' at the end, you kindergarten dropouts.
Seetheing
lol
Seeth more.
>Japanese mech game has mediocre scores
The tragedy!
>a 7 is bad now
okay retard
Monster Hunter, like all capcom games, is fucking garbage and always has been dumbed down
lmao brainlet detected
Monster Hunter was never good
How does DxM compare to AC? I'm kind of worried about DxM because of the progression tree bullshit which never bodes well
Not to mention the boost heavy gameplay, games like Garrison Archangel and MASS Builder have godawful gameplay that emphasise booster
Exactly
holy this
>an FPS with tacked on robots
>a JRPG with tacked on robots
>mecha games
>splitting hairs
holy samefag
Answer me this, in MH if a monster is beating you what do you do?
you change your build
Exactly. You grind.
If I'm stuck in Daioujou, I learn the game and get better
MH all you do is grind
Daily reminder that, as Marvelous has distribution in Japan, game's probably going to be timed exclusive a la TSA.
The console warring is fruitless.
Well if Titanfall 2 and GBA2 count I don't see why RAD and XCX don't.
Reminder metacritic thinks the kuso that is AC 2 is better than AC: Nexkino
sorry but grinding doesn't work when you have to beat a monster with maxed out equipment who still kicks your ass
Basically, everything under a 6 is essentially a 0, and then 6-10 is actually 1-5, because game reviewers are retarded
make a petition maybe you'll get it faster
You learn the monster and get better at fighting it or you practice your weapon more and get better at using it.
Have it reserved and buying it today. I'm just being realistic.
>ambitious devs with plans to make a fast as fuck mech game
>produce your software on the switch
>game runs like doo
Probably is great but christ on a cross it feels like swimming in molasses
>game runs like doo
It runs fine, tho
>>game runs like doo
We're clearly not playing the same game
?
...
I can't imagine what it'd be like to be this fucking dumb.
Why is it that the game has been fucking out for 16 hours, and none of you retards thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread about it?
search the catalogue, retard
mandatory reminder that vgchartz's EU numbers are complete fabrications
Not that I don't think PS4 sells better than the switch there, it probably does. But those vgchartz numbers still aren't real.
vgzchartz numbers are complete fabrications in general, i don't know why people keep posting like they have some credibility when they are completely disproven come investors call periods
>IGN Spain
>Despite what Nintendo has tried to sold us, Daemon x Machina is a low budget game that have potential, but its lack of ambition is the reason for not being successful.
These shitskins really can't speak English on any continent. And those are PROFESSIONAL shitskins.
I mean, the review was not written in english and was probably autotranslated by Metacritic.

Insanely obnoxious editing.
