Recently 100%'d TTYD. The infamous "General White" backtracking wasn't even that bad. It's two places right next to each other in the warp shortcuts, Glitzville, then two places with pipes right next to each other (Twilight Town and Fahr Outpost).

Now the Trouble Quests, those were extremely fucking gay with the amount of backtracking involved.

I mean with how things are going I could see them giving you just 1 Party Member for the whole game.

If it were Shy Guy, they could swap between Pyro Guy, Spy Guy, etc to use different abilities and gain different effects. It would be pretty cool for such a bad situation.

I too, saw Zero play Paper Mario.

One thing I like about PM64 is that of all the Mario RPGs, it feels the most like a traditional Mario adventure expanded into RPG form, if that makes any sense.

They'd probably just reuse cappy and let him take on enemies to be partners

Shy Guys are cool and the variety of them in the Toy Box in Paper Mario 1 was really interesting to me.

I would prefer a Magikoopa though. I love their colorful geometric attacks and they could buff Mario and themself during battle. A Chain Chomp is fine too.

I actually like this, maybe give him a special ability that allows him to keep the transformations after the first capture and allow him to change through them during fights/inbetween them. Wouldn't want it to be the main focus of the game but it'd make him a neat party member. Bonus points if he takes on personality traits of each enemy and actually acts/sounds different depending on the form. Extra special good boy points if this applies to unique enemies that call back to previous party members/seem intended to be a party member in their own right.

Color Splash was fun, many of the set pieces were fun to play through and the music was cool too, would have liked if they had expanded on the true villain of the game.

I wish this series was good again... unfortunate how it got backhanded hard for mario and luigi games. Which aren't bad but like I don't enjoy how Paper Mario has been generally treated compared to it.

I will never not be impressed by the while battle-as-theatre motif of the combat system in ttyd. What an absolutely splendid, original presentation and mechanic. I think if other games straight up ripped it off, it would still be good and feel fresh.
