For the Japanese they never needed to buy Ultimate or G versions of games. They were free updates.
And westerners never got the base game in the first place and started out with Ultimate version of the games most of the time.

it really didnt make a impact. These are AAA titles the bar is higher for them. if it doesnt break the 4M its called underpeforming most of the time hence things like anthem are considered blunder but still sold 2M.
