Brachydios is super easy with lance and gunlance now that blast resist is so easy to get. Brachy really needed that blast infliction on block.

Pick any of the half dozen normal 6 gunlances that exist now. They're all good with artillery 5.

I've never got used to his movement. Even with how mobile lance becomes every new gen I still flounder in his fight. Too many moves that end up to your side or behind you that I still can't read very well.

I'd only bother wounding parts if you're having a hard time empty poking on hard armor spots. Shouldn't be a problem for long.

Make sure you're taking advantage of Wyvernstake blast, Normal loves it for the huge burst damage off slam burst, Long gets like +75% damage per charged shell and it triggers the stake far easier thanks to how long the shell hitbox is.

I don't know how easy it is for wide as I haven't tried one yet, it also has a larger shell hitbox than normal so I suppose it depends on the angle you're poking at you can probably still trigger it without being right on top of it.

Always move while shooting and aim for the weakened parts. Then focus on the bullet the gun prefers and work around it

Monster Hunter is purposefully a multiplayer game and G rank is designed around it.

Only the truly autismic would want to play solo

Red boosts attack and changes your moveset into a faster, stronger version. Literally don't even bother attacking until you have it. Usually found on heads or other "attacking" parts.

White increases movement speed and jump height. Pairs with Red for an even larger attack boost. Ideally, you should aim to have at least red+white at all times. Usually found on legs or wings.

Orange increases defense. It used to pair with white for knockback resistance and earplugs, but it doesn't anymore because the devs hate the IG and feel the need to nerf it further with every subsequent appearance. Now it's pretty much only good for getting all three extracts for the maximum boost. Usually found on torsos, tails, hind legs, etc.

For bugs, speed>all. How fast your bug is at getting extracts and bringing them back is your number 1 stat priority. Power isn't important because bug damage is negligible, and I have no idea what healing it supposed to do besides increase how much health a green extract gives you. Beyond that, their dust type determines what sorts of clouds they make when set to attack a marked part. Paralysis is arguably the best, but blast types are good too.

Bugs can be raised into a specific build you want. Slash or Blunt damage, Whatever element/status of your choice, made for longer "summoning" time or made for quick hit and run, etc. However you build it doesn't really matter but the rule of the thumb is that you always want to spec your bug with max speed. Speed is important because it would allow the bug to shoot off like a bullet and bring you back the extracts.

Insect Glaive's game is all about collecting all three extracts to get that super buff and then going ham on the monster. You shouldn't risk getting all of it at the point of carting but getting all 3 should be your top priority no matter what.

You know how you get the molten bursa from shiny drops? It's the same deal with these.

What is the difference between the blue and red completed stamps next to the MR quest categories? Blue is not truly complete, I assume? Are there hidden quests to unlock? How do I unlock them? Keep doing optional quests to unlock more? I did every LR & HR quest and got the rainbow pigment but on HR 8* quests I have a blue completed status despite there being no more quests to do. Everything else in LR & HR is red.

Pseudocanth and Cancadaman are both good, fast Blast or Paralysis respectively. Not sure how the Iceborne upgrades turn out but I assume going down those paths continues to be good.

They were always inflated. You can still do sub-10 minute MR runs if you're somewhat decent and that's with late HR weapons and armor. I remember my very first G-rank monster, it was a Rathian and I couldn't even pierce its skin with my shitty weapon. Even on the 3rd try when I finally did kill it I was seconds away from timing out again. That was in 3U. I got to the point where I was yeeting them in like 5 minutes. I guess I'm just saying that mew G-Rank expansions always feel tedious until you get in the groove of things.

evade distance doesn't increase iframes.

however, you are correct that evasion window is excellent on switchaxe, since it has no other way to get iframes.

It would have been more tolerable if the the slinger/wall charge mechanic was capped, so monsters would resist it after using it several times. That way you have to plan when it's best to use it, and can't simply spam it throughout the fight (when it's not enraged).

I think I've read before that if you don't do any of the special arena quests, they stay active until your first completion and wont disappear into the quest cycle. If true, that's the only possible in game list you can use.

Something about how the melder table isn't resetting properly in 10.11 so no matter how many quests you do, it'll always go back to the same spot. Basically just quit to the menu, go back in, and do a Strange Stream, and the 3rd deco will always be a magazine jewel.

Rule #1 is always hit the head. Level 2 charge running attack (charged upswing) is your best friend. You're basically always circling around the monster charging to try and use the forward movement on it to fly in and pop the head, and if possible then transition to a second or third hit, if not you dodge away and repeat. Be on the lookout for opportunities to do a bigger hit with one of the standing charge move instead, but remember you can't GOTCHA BITCH like GS can.

When you knock the monster over or stun it is when you get to shine, and if you're playing right that'll happen often. You'll get a feel for how much time you have to pull off a combo but it will pretty much invariably involve a charged triangle attack with some triangle followups, but what you really want is to start the circle combo, Big Bang. You can't really bust this one out except for when the monster is stationary (you can, sometimes, just not always a great idea) because each successive hit in the combo requires the previous one to land, so make sure you aren't standing in a way where the monster's head is gonna shake out of reach on the followup hits. If you get the full thing off you get big dick damage and often will even end up stunning or KOing the monster again as you'll do the final hit just as they've recovered.

On slopes feel free to abuse the spin-to-win, but be careful too because you're quite vulnerable in it and even worse you can easily start sliding while just trying to charge up for a normal hit which will then leave you in the air when you might not want to be.

A lot of World's sales came from people buying into the hype for a series they've never touched -- now that they know what it's like many know it's not for them. MH won't ever reach those numbers again for several games and knowing how retarded Japanese suits are that's not a good omen.

I'd imagine a percentage of the people that didn't get IB are people who tried out World and didn't like it and another percentage are people that double-dipped for vanilla World and can't get used to the console version after trying out the PC one.

Sorry, I should have worded that differently, I meant that you can't do it the same way GS can, if GS gets their full swing off they can absolutely count on it KOing the monster and they can do it safely with the extra reach GS affords them.

Hammer needs to soften them up first and has to have better timing or they're probably going to be eating the hit at the same time as they hit the monster.

If you compare the large structure of the game, then yes, they're totally different games.
But the combat, the core gameplay in which you engage for the most of the time you spend with both these games, then they're quite similar. But more importantly, they're both good and strangely satisfying. It's hard to put into words, but they just play better than some run of the mill slasher games.

You don't need to do anything, beating Xeno is all that's recommended before getting it. Having lots of supplies/zenny/weapons to upgrade is good but you'll mostly want to use master rank equipment with Iceborne anyway. There's a lot of optional stuff you could complete for some bonuses (canteen ingredients, lynian research) but you can work on that stuff at any time and it continues in Iceborne.

how did Monster Hunter Story handle Hunters vs Huggers? I remember watching some episodes of the anime with the hunters being chill with the riders.

Don't fight until you have red extract for the better moveset; you're gonna want white too for the attack buff. Orange is less of a priority but make sure you get it whenever you can.
Once you have all three, mark the monster with pheromones so your bug fights it automatically. If you can, take a bug with an element effective against the monster since this can double the bug's damage. Some people say the damage sucks but it's free damage so there's no excuse. Don't bother with healing dust; poison and blast dust are best for solo play (I usually use blast unless a monster is resistant to it and/or extremely weak to poison), and paralysis is handy in multiplayer if there's no one else on para duty. I usually use Blunt bugs since they're usually able to KO the monster at least once per hunt with dedication, and since you'll often be attacking a monster's head you'll have lots of dust clouds there. I put pheromones on the monster's head and let it fight, and if my triple up ends while it's out, it often has red extract ready to go.
Bug stats are up to personal preference. I personally prioritize both Attack and Speed. I wouldn't bother with Stamina. Compromising on speed usually means less reliability in extract recovery, unless you can coordinate your bug's trajectory with the monster's specific body part.

That's what I did. There's a dude I usually play MHW with, but he mostly plays GU and is slowly turning into a Switch drone (i.e. prefers to buy multiplats on Switch, even though he has a high end gaming PC).
We still hunt together from time to time though, and he's getting IB, and he's a fan of the series, so I don't think I'll be losing a hunting partner. But I just wish my IRL friends had a better taste in vidya.

He didn't have the base version in IB, and he'll probably be a part of post-game grind, so won't appear in the optionals, and will be exclusive to the Guiding Lands. But that would also mean that the base version will be tuned for endgame and be on Furious level already.
Although i guess there is a chance, that base Rajang appears a late game event quest, and then you can unlock Furious at lvl 6-7 Guiding Lands or something.

I think you're misinformed. Aside from one guy who worked on Gen/GU moving up to direct Iceborne the other usual portable team suspects are unaccounted for as far as I know.
