I don't get why Dimitri is obsessed with Edelgard. Why is he so mad at her and thinks killing her will solve all of his problems? How did Edelgard betray Dimitri or otherwise wrong him in any way? He was clearly bipolar and depressed long before she revealed herself as the Flame Emperor to him so she's not responsible for his emotional baggage. Dimitri is like if you were to see an elementary school crush today who doesn't recognize you so she keeps going her way. If you're normal, you would accept that she does not remember you and does not particularly care to befriend you so you go your separate ways. But Dimitri appears to suffer from oneitis and stalks her to the point of wanting to kill her so nobody else can have her.

The Flame Emperor killed the royal family, is indirectly responsible for the resulting Duscar massacre, and with the country run by a bad regent, has left the Kingdom suffering immensely, nevermind all the personal trauma he had, losing his family.

Edelgard then takes everything he'd regained from him with her idiotic war, has him imprisoned and has his closest ally die saving him.

Go play Black Eagles, at the part near the start where you talk to Edelgard about romance, one of the the prompts is to ask Edelgard who her first love was - she admits it was Dimitri.

That's what makes the BL route so tragic, because she acts like she doesn't remember their past, when she obviously does. It meant everything to her.

That's not Edelgard's problem nor could you argue she owes him to be in that role. Dimitri already has several people who abandoned their own families to serve him for life. He also has a handful of childhood friends going to school with him fight for him in the war so he has a family.

Post what? It's one of the conversations you have at school, when discussing the Goddess tower and the romance story related to it.

She talks about her father and how he fell in love with her mother when he was visiting the Monastary, he couldn't marry her since (as an Emperor) he was already betrothed, but he took her as his concubine and truly loved her. She talks about how she enjoys thinking about that kind of devoted love, etc.

One of the prompts is to ask her about her first love, she then tells you about Dimitri and from when she was in the Kingdom.
