I just got done with my fourth route being CF and I agree OP. Don’t understand why I saw people on here saying the route made them dislike her if anything it gave me insight into her motives behind a lot of her actions because the other routes do a poor job of doing so. Some said it was because of the waifu pandering in her route but I prefer the husbandos anyways so I didn’t pay attention to that. CF having the least amount of chapters was kind of a blessing but I wish we got to see more of the story since fighting Rhea was supposed to be only one step of Edelgard’s plan.

Three Houses likely started out as Two Houses, with Edelgard and Dimitri, but someone on the staff or in production likely got cold feet because of having two completely non standard lords. One a villain, and one a PTSD riddled nutcase. So they added Claude as the "vanilla" option which meant reworking a bunch of characters to fill up his house and diverting resources away even more.

Then when someone realized they were booking the "main villain" as the promotional material character, more cold feet occurred and so you get the church route so people can "back out" from being the bad guys, which split the resources even more, and they began defanging Edelgard in her route, while not fixing her in any other route.

So Edelgard ends up a fucking mess of a character, Dimitri ends up pretty solid with only a few loose story threads because he was likely touched very little during development since his route started at the same time, and Claude and the Church's route, likely being made closer together, resemble each other to a high degree, but they give Claude the Nemesis and Shambala maps so he has something unique.

Ultimately, it's the compromises that came from taking a character who was designed with a single counterpart in mind, and then having to tie her to all the extra shit that got added while flip flopping between who she is as a character that destroys her.

Considering how he treats both of them the same, flirts with both, it's obvious that Dimitri would dick both male and female sensei if he could.
IS probably never went with it because he is meant to have a son in his end by default, and IS is too lazy to make difference ending based on gender and male Byleth obviously can't pop a child out of his ass with Dimitri. Which is why there is no ending between the two in any way.

Not him but I'm not a fan of their ending either, though I like how their relationship is portrayed. Claude says he used to see Byleth as a tool he could use but he has grown to treasure her over time. His relationship with her is different from what he had with the other girls in a sense that Byleth is someone who can make his dreams and goals come true with her by his side, Hilda also mentions that Claude smiles from his heart when Byleth is around. It's one that is built on trust rather than a romantic one like with Dimitri or Edelgard who sees Byleth as their emotional anchor.

After finishing my first playthrough I still don't think I really understood the battalion system. They stopped being useful outside monsters pretty quickly.
Was I supposed to be constantly training and changing them? Did I need to keep training everyone's authority? I was nowhere close to getting good battalions on the my non-main units by the end of BE.

Any one who has anything useful to offer should be doing that, so dancer falls to the least useful, making them one of the most useful.
