There may be nothing said by the others in your party, but you can just tell from their silence that they fear you and follow you in hopes they receive a compliment from you for doing good. The right tank player can instantly pimpify his entire party if he knows what he's doing. You're in charge, and they'll know it.

I'm a sprout that started DPS up through Arr to the start of HW and was nervous about switching to a Tank, and you know what?

It's super easy. Turn on your stance, do your rotation, safely ignore half of the boss fight mechanics, and remember your cooldowns exist. If you fuck up only the Healer will know it in 95% of the cases unless you go flying off the arena to your death.

Only real stress is the first time runs through dungeons as I try to feel out what I can pull, and even then just being a bit overleveled and overgeared mitigates it. My healer is generally also overgeared and picks up the slack.

Remember to never commendate your Healer. Give it to a DPS that didn't die.

As a player who has a tank, you are LITERALLY dedicating at least 80 levels of your time simply to level a tank for another player to enjoy. It is the ULTIMATE AND FINAL cuck. Think about it logically

Gunbreaker is good, but only if your party is good.

If your healers are dpsing, and your DPS can competently use cooldowns and AoE effectively, then by the time your cooldowns run out GNB is actually fine, but the same could be said for any other tank.

The other tanks have way better ways to deal with large pulls. DRK can spam TBN, free 25% HP every 15 seconds, WAR can spam nascent flash and heal practically to full if used with chaotic cyclone, and PLD can at least heal themselves.

GNB just has aurora and shoots themselves in the foot with superbolide. It brings the absolute bare-minimum when it comes to tanking large pulls. A good tank can make it work, but a good tank would make it work even better on another job.

How? It's literally just Combo A and then Combo B, where the final button changes every 3 combos. The exact same way it was pre-expac. Tornado Kick rotation was complicated and bad, but now pretty much all your damage comes from Leaden Fist. I think the only hard part might be actually using SSS.

To "compensate" their 2/3rd aoe, MNK also had a second aoe ability that ShB took away, sadly.

Every jobs had AoE, but they were mainly spamming 1 weaponskill instead of a combo.
NIN had only Death blossom.
From ARR to HW, DRG only had 2 weaponskill aoe, one was more powerful (and stylish) than the other but consumed a lot more TP.
Like DRG, BRD and MCH had 2 aoe, one more powerful and TP consuming than the other, but were actually easier to use because they were purely ranged so many people miss them over their cone aoe.
Heck, until SB PLD only aoe was fucking Circle of Scorn, and it was actually a DPS gain to heal yourself with Clemency and let your healer aoe than attack yourself.

You can only do just two buttons in PB if you're timing earth's reply or anatman mid-GCD, which is pretty much the same preplanning as BLM
You can still do some pretty cool things with TK too. I've yet to be able to do the fabled TK+SSS into 3stack anatman in the Orogenesis downtime.

The Anatman server timing doesn't seem fun though, much the same way the "Flare 3 times and then Transpose into the wait spell" wasn't exactly fun either.

A team of 8 (as long as there are only 8 in the zone), are able to beat any FATE in Eureka. The key part is just everyone doing the mechanics right.

absolutely. Healers and Tanks are a crutch that you should eventually learn not to rely upon.

We have DRG+BRD+MCH+RDM in our group and we cleared the tier without many problems with dps checks.
PF people might be a bigger problem though.

Pretty much any time a mechanic forces downtime longer than ~3 seconds, you want to use SSS.
e4s examples: fault zone, landslide(cross), both uplifts, if you have to run south with blue during second platform destruction thing, orogenesis
TK + SSS can be used for more than the very end of the fight if you can use anatman to get back 3 stacks before downtime ends, like Leviathan's Maelstroms

dragoon is specifically the tankiest dps but don't be surprised if half the time you can't solo field monsters as x dps
